Jan 9, 2022 • Im Oldenburger Land ist Grünkohl das traditionelle Wintergemüse. In der Region im Nordwesten Deutschlands kommt der Kohl mit dem feuchten Meeresklima gut zurecht. Früher stand Grünkohl in fast jedem Garten in der Umgebung, denn er sicherte die Grundversorgung in der kalten Jahreszeit. Bio-Bauer Peter Kluin baut seltene Grünkohlsorten an und verkauft sie auf dem Wochenmarkt.

Peter Kluin ist Landwirt und verkauft seit über 30 Jahren auf dem Oldenburger Rathausmarkt Bio-Gemüse. Mit den ersten kühlen Tagen beginnt die Grünkohlsaison. Grünkohl ist ein Wintergemüse, es wird von November bis März geerntet. Auf seinem Hof südlich von Oldenburg baut Peter Kluin alte Sorten wie Lerchenzunge, Schwarzkohl oder Roten Grünkohl an. Seine Frau Susanne Bruns und er kochen mit dem Gemüse ausschließlich vegetarisch. Susanne verarbeitet den Kohl auch roh im Smoothie, geröstet als Chips und sogar als Dessert-Zutat.

Peter hat eine SoLaWi-Genossenschaft gegründet, um unabhängiger vom Wochenmarktgeschäft zu sein. Die Mitglieder der solidarischen Landwirtschaft erhalten wöchentlich eine Gemüse-Kiste und Peter mehr Planungssicherheit. Gemeinsam pflegen sie einen norddeutschen Brauch: Sie unternehmen eine Kohlfahrt. Trotz eisiger Temperaturen wird gewandert und anschließend Grünkohl gegessen. Zur Kohlfahrt gehört der Klassiker „Grünkohl mit Pinkel“ mit geräucherten Würsten aus Speck und Hafergrütze. Peter und seine Frau probieren auch eine vegane Variante mit kräftigen Gewürzen.

Während im Handel meist nur eine Sorte Grünkohl angeboten wird, setzen sich immer mehr Landwirte für den Erhalt seltener Sorten ein. Peter Kluin besucht den Saatgutretter Reinhard Lühring, der regionale Gemüsesorten sammelt und vermehrt. Bei ihm entdeckt Peter alte Sorten für die nächste Grünkohlsaison.

He was a dashing helicopter pilot and war hero, who captivated millions of Britons during the Falkland Islands war. Royal watchers liked to say he was a favorite of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

These days, however, Prince Andrew, 61, is drawing global infamy and revulsion over accusations that he raped a teenager in 2001.

The prince has repeatedly denied the accusations. But this week, his once-glittering royal life was shattered irreparably after a federal judge in Manhattan ruled that a civil case related to the sexual abuse accusations could proceed.

The reaction from Buckingham Palace was swift and punishing. Just a day later, the prince’s 95-year-old mother stripped him of his military titles and royal patronages. Going forward, the prince will no longer use the title “His Royal Highness,” a symbol of his status as a senior member of the royal family. The Sun, a popular British tabloid, summed it up: Prince Andrew had been “effectively banished.”

Looming over the case is the prince’s friendship with the former financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who the accuser, Virginia Giuffre, claimed had trafficked her to the prince. Mr. Epstein committed suicide in prison in 2019.

The case has deeply shaken the royal family, already buffeted by scandal and the rancorous departure of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan. Jan 18, 2022 • A closed airport and lack of communication have continued to hinder international relief measures on the Pacific island nation of Tonga after Saturday's massive volcanic eruption and tsunami, even as significant damage was reported along the western coast of the country’s main island on Tuesday. The New Zealand High Commission reported damage on the island of Tongatapu, which is home to many holiday resorts, and the waterfront of capital Nuku'alofa. The United Nations also said that satellite visuals showed extensive damage on the western coast of Tongatapu, with several resorts and houses destroyed or severely damaged.

The official toll of deaths, injuries and damage from the disaster is still unclear, as the South Pacific archipelago has remained severed from the rest of the world after its main undersea communications cable was cut during the eruption on the uninhabited volcanic island of Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai. In the first known death from the catastrophe, British national Angela Glover, 50, was killed in the tsunami as she attempted to save dogs at a rescue shelter she had set up with her husband in Tonga, her brother said. High waves from the eruption also caused two deaths in faraway Peru, where two women drowned. The country also reported an oil spill after a ship was affected while transferring oil at a refinery. "We don't have any further information that would suggest... significant casualties, although, as you would appreciate, information is still relatively patchy," Australia's Minister for the Pacific Zed Seselja said on Nine's Today show on Tuesday. He said the airport could likely open by Wednesday, with volcanic ash currently preventing planes from landing safely.

The UN said on Tuesday that it had detected a distress beacon from Tonga. eThe UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) expressed concern about the small low-lying islands of Mango and Fonoi. An active distress signal was detected from Mango. "Communication is still the most challenging single issue as internet and international phone lines are still out of order," the OCHA said. "Satellite phones are the only reliable instrument for communication with the outside but they, too, do not always work reliably." Meanwhile, the New Zealand High Commission said that it was trying to establish communications with smaller islands "as a matter of priority." The eruption triggered atmospheric shockwaves and unusually large waves that traveled as far as Alaska, Japan and South America.

MI5 Investigated Texas Synagogue Hostage-taker in 2020

The British man who took hostages at a Texas synagogue had been under investigation by MI5 as a possible Islamist terrorist threat as recently as 2020, Whitehall sources have acknowledged.

British intelligence closed the investigation, however, after officers had concluded Malik Faisal Akram from Blackburn posed no threat, and as a result he was able to travel freely to the US and purchase a gun.

It is understood the investigation was “mid-level” and took place in the second half of 2020 – but once it had ended Akram was left as a closed subject of interest on MI5’s records, and no information of concern appears to have been passed to the US authorities before the synagogue attack.

The Security Service’s investigation lasted “over four weeks”, a source said. But it ended with an assessment that Akram did not pose a jihadist terror risk and there was no reason to prevent him from travelling abroad.

The acknowledgment is a particular embarrassment to the agency, which prides itself on a close working relationship with its US counterparts. The FBI has known about MI5’s previous investigation for some time, although British sources declined to say whether they had apologised.

LGBTQ+ Rights Activist Found Dead in Florida Landfill

ADVOCATE: Jorge Diaz-Johnston and his husband were one of six couples who successfully challenged Florida's ban on same-sex marriage in 2014.

Authorities in Florida are investigating the death of Jorge Diaz-Johnston, an LGBTQ+ activist who won a landmark court case in Miami-Dade County against the state’s ban on same-sex marriages. He was 54.

Diaz-Johnston vanished from Tallahassee January 3, according to Miami TV station WPLG. Detectives found his remains in a trash pile at a landfill Saturday morning in Jackson County, Fla., which is west of Tallahassee.

Police are treating the case as a homicide.

Investigators said in a release that the trash Diaz-Johnston's remains were found in came from a metal bay at another landfill. They added that any person or company has access to it.

Diaz-Johnston and his husband, Don Johnston, were one of six couples who successfully sued the Miami-Dade County Clerk’s Office after the office denied them marriage licenses in 2014.

NEUE ZÜRCHER ZEITUNG: Die Empörung ist gross. Klein dagegen war bis anhin die Lust an der Aufklärung über die Beziehungen, die der Pädo-Kriminelle Jeffrey Epstein zu höchsten Vertretern aus Amerikas Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft unterhielt. Das könnte sich jetzt ändern.

Gerade einmal zwei Wochen ist es her, dass sich (nicht nur amerikanische) Medien süffisant zurücklehnten angesichts des Schuldspruchs gegen die schöne Ghislaine Maxwell, die Komplizin des pädophilen Sexualstraftäters Jeffrey Epstein. Nun wurde vergangene Woche die Zivilklage von Virginia Giuffre gegen Prinz Andrew entgegen den juristischen Bemühungen seiner Anwälte von einem New Yorker Gericht für zulässig erklärt. Die «Tagesschau» des Schweizer Fernsehens leitete den Bericht darüber ein mit dem Satz: «Es gab eine Zeit, da waren die Reichen und Mächtigen unantastbar, wo es gang und gäbe war, sich mit Deals aus der Affäre zu ziehen.» Aber der Reichtum ist hier nicht das Obszöne, sondern der Missbrauch.

Jan 17, 2022 • People have been rallying in cities across the UK to protest against a new bill they say is an attack on the right to demonstrate. The controversial 'police and crime bill' would grant police greater powers to crack down on disruptive protests, but critics say it will also make it more difficult to hold peaceful demonstrations.

In a statement, the Home Office told DW: "Freedom to protest within the law is a fundamental part of our democracy, but the police must swiftly deal with the selfish minority of protestors whose actions endanger the public (...)."

The UK government is targeting environmental activists. It wants to stop disruptive protest. Public nuisance will be a new offense, carrying a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison or an unlimited fine. And that's highly controversial.

NGOs and human rights groups have staged many protests. They see the bill as an attack on democracy itself. And even conservative legal observers like the former attorney general are concerned.

Laut den am Montag veröffentlichten Daten des chinesischen Statistikamts wurden im vergangenen Jahr in der Volksrepublik nur noch 10,62 Millionen Kinder geboren. Das bedeutet einen Rückgang gegenüber dem Vorjahr um 10,5 Prozent. Es ist die geringste Zahl an Neugeborenen seit der Gründung der Volksrepublik im Jahr 1949. Auf tausend Einwohner kamen 7,52 Geburten. Zum Vergleich: In Deutschland liegt die Rate bei 9,4.

BELGRADE, Serbia — When Covid-19 reached Eastern Europe in the spring of 2020, a Serbian journalist reported a severe shortage of masks and other protective equipment. She was swiftly arrested, thrown in a windowless cell and charged with inciting panic.

The journalist, Ana Lalic, was quickly released and even got a public apology from the government in what seemed like a small victory against old-style repression by Serbia’s authoritarian president, Aleksandar Vucic.

But Ms. Lalic was then vilified for weeks as a traitor by much of the country’s news media, which has come increasingly under the control of Mr. Vucic and his allies as Serbia adopts tactics favored by Hungary and other states now in retreat from democracy across Europe’s formerly communist eastern fringe.

“For the whole nation, I became a public enemy,” she recalled.

Serbia no longer jails or kills critical journalists, as happened under the rule of Slobodan Milosevic in the 1990s. It now seeks to destroy their credibility and ensure few people see their reports.

The muting of critical voices has greatly helped Mr. Vucic — and also the country’s most well-known athlete, the tennis star Novak Djokovic, whose visa travails in Australia have been portrayed as an intolerable affront to the Serb nation. A little over a month ago, the prime minister told the House of Commons that he shared the anger of a nation at seeing a video of his Number 10 staff making light of lockdown measures and joking about Christmas parties. We were supposed to believe that a culture of impunity and disregard for rules at the heart of government had absolutely nothing to do with Boris Johnson; that he was as shocked by the hypocrisy as the rest of us. It was always a ludicrous contention that the prime minister had no idea what was going on in his own office, part of the same complex as his own residence. And in the last week the full extent of the sheer gall of a leader prepared to throw his staff under a bus to evade accountability for the worst sort of political hypocrisy has been exposed.

Revelation after revelation has emerged since the start of the year – as Johnson must have known they inevitably would – that rubbishes that statement he made to MPs last month. We now know that in May 2020, Johnson was giving a speech at a social gathering, with drink and food, in the Downing Street garden the very same evening ministers were warning the public at a press conference that they could only meet one other person outside. That his staff were throwing not one, but two, raucous parties that reportedly left items in the garden damaged the night before Prince Philip’s funeral. The Duke of Sussex believes the UK is too dangerous for him and his family to visit without state protection, as it emerged he is taking legal action against the government to allow him to pay privately for police security while in Britain.

Prince Harry lost taxpayer-funded police security when he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. The couple pay for private security in the US, where they now live.

Harry is seeking a judicial review against a Home Office decision that prevents him personally paying for police protection for him and his family while in the UK. His legal representative said the duke’s private security team did not have adequate jurisdiction abroad or access to UK intelligence information required to protect him, his wife, and their children, Archie and Lilibet. Die Massenarbeitslosigkeit infolge der Weltwirtschaftskrise erreicht 1932 ihren Höhepunkt. In Deutschland kämpft die Weimarer Republik ums Überleben. Am 30. Januar 1933 wird Adolf Hitler zum Reichskanzler ernannt. Der Reichstagsbrand Ende Februar 1933 dient dem Regime als Vorwand für die Zerschlagung der KPD. Jüdische Bürger sehen sich massiven Repressalien ausgesetzt. Hans Beimler ist 1932 für die KPD in den Reichstag eingezogen. Doch nach dem Reichstagsbrand muss er abtauchen. Beimler wird verraten und in das KZ Dachau verschleppt. Dort wird er brutal gefoltert. Die Lage scheint aussichtslos, doch dann bietet sich eine Chance zur Flucht. Rudolf Höß hat geheiratet, eine Familie gegründet und lebt als Landarbeiter in Pommern. Er übernimmt die Führung des völkischen Artamanen-Bundes vor Ort. Da begegnet er Heinrich Himmler, der ihn für die SS-Totenkopfverbände gewinnt. Wenig später tritt Höß eine Stelle als Aufseher im KZ Dachau an. Nach erfolgreichen Jahren in Hollywood hat Pola Negri in der Weltwirtschaftskrise ihr Vermögen verloren. Auch ihr erster Tonfilm ist ein Flop. Die deutsche Filmindustrie will den ehemaligen Star für deutsche Produktionen gewinnen. Trotz Warnungen ihres Vertrauten Ernst Lubitsch lässt sich Pola Negri auf das Geschäft ein. Unity Mitford, Tochter einer britischen Adelsfamilie, schwärmt für Adolf Hitler. Sie gehört zu der wachsenden Gruppe von Briten, die sich für den Faschismus begeistern – im Gegensatz zu ihrer jüngeren Schwester Jessica, die eine überzeugte Kommunistin ist. Ihr Vater, Lord Redesdale, erlaubt Unity eine Reise nach Deutschland.

Während eine kleine Oberschicht die Goldenen Zwanziger genießt, leben in den Armenvierteln Millionen Menschen im Elend. Nach dem Schwarzen Freitag 1929 brechen Banken zusammen, es folgen Warenhäuser und Betriebe. Der Geschäftsmann Marcel Jamet eröffnet in Paris das Edelbordell „One Two Two“, das zum Treffpunkt von Politikern, Militärs und internationalen Stars wird. Sie hält landesweit Vorträge über Sexualität und Empfängnisverhütung. Sie hat Erfolg. Doch dann beginnt ihr langjähriger Lebensgefährte eine Affäre mit der 18-jährigen Alfa. Silvio Crespi ist es gelungen, sein Firmenimperium weiter auszubauen – mit Hilfe hoher Kredite. Infolge der massiven Aufwertung der Lira durch Mussolini brechen aber die Exporte ein. Ein Großauftrag der Regierung bringt noch einmal Hoffnung. Doch dann fordern die Banken den Kredit zurück. Die Österreicherin Edith Wellspacher wird als eine der ersten Frauen in Wien zum Medizinstudium zugelassen. Sie erträgt die Anfeindungen durch Mitstudenten und Professoren und hungert oft tagelang, um das Studium finanzieren zu können. Da begegnet sie dem jüdischen Assistenzarzt Max Wachstein.

Ce vendredi, les opposants au président Kaïs Saïed, qui a pris les pleins pouvoirs cet été, comptaient fêter l’anniversaire de la révolution - l’autocrate Ben Ali a fui le pays le 14 janvier 2011- et montrer leur poids. Cela malgré l’interdiction, décidée en début de semaine, de se rassembler pour cause d’épidémie de Covid. L’épreuve de force a bien eu lieu. À coups de matraque, de gaz lacrymogène et de canon à eau, les policiers ont dispersé la foule.

«C’est un fou. Un fou à lier», souffle une sexagénaire qui refuse de donner son nom, «trop risqué». Elle est venue manifester sur l’avenue Bourguiba, en plein cœur de Tunis, malgré l’interdiction: «Je n’ai pas participé aux manifestations pendant la révolution. Je m’en suis voulu et je me suis juré d’agir depuis. J’ai un grand rêve: celui de la démocratie.» Ghassen Marzouki, lui, peste contre les policiers: «Ils ont tout fait pour nous empêcher de nous réunir. Il y a des groupes de gens coincés un peu partout. Les policiers quadrillent. Wie so oft würden von US-Seite vermeintliche Sensationsnachrichten gestreut, ohne dass es dafür eine Grundlage gebe, teilte die russische Botschaft in Washington daraufhin am Samstag mit. „Wie üblich werden keine Beweise vorgelegt.“

„Wir haben Informationen, die darauf hindeuten, dass Russland bereits eine Gruppe von Agenten aufgestellt hat, um eine Operation unter falscher Flagge im Osten der Ukraine durchzuführen“, hatte die Sprecherin des Weißen Hauses, Jen Psaki, am Freitag gesagt. THE NEW YORK TIMES: When Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed British lawmakers in a febrile Parliament on Wednesday, he appeared to raise his eyes to the heavens for a split moment as if to seek rescue.

Was he praying for escape from the opposition lawmakers who loudly jeered what many considered to be his non-apology for attending a boozy party at Downing Street during the 2020 lockdown — after he repeatedly insisted over the past several months that he had broken no rules?

Or perhaps from the sullen members of his own political party whose view of the “Blond Bombshell” is fast transiting from electoral super-asset to toxic brand likely to lose them their seats?

Or was it from the millions like me watching — at home, in the streets, on buses, in cafes — who gasped at the entitled lack of respect he demonstrated to those of us who abided by the restrictions, in the name of the greater good, and thus never got to say goodbye to our dying mothers, fathers and friends?

The Boris Johnson show was box-office that day but it was no longer a comedy act that viewers wanted to see from Britain’s onetime favorite performer. We wanted honest and deep contrition, but we were denied it. The overall message was that he had done no wrong. VIENNA — No one expected much progress from this past week’s diplomatic marathon to defuse the security crisis Russia has ignited in Eastern Europe by surrounding Ukraine on three sides with 100,000 troops and then, by the White House’s accounting, sending in saboteurs to create a pretext for invasion.

But as the Biden administration and NATO conduct tabletop simulations about how the next few months could unfold, they are increasingly wary of another set of options for President Vladimir V. Putin, steps that are more far-reaching than simply rolling his troops and armor over Ukraine’s border.

Mr. Putin wants to extend Russia’s sphere of influence to Eastern Europe and secure written commitments that NATO will never again enlarge. If he is frustrated in reaching that goal, some of his aides suggested on the sidelines of the negotiations last week, then he would pursue Russia’s security interests with results that would be felt acutely in Europe and the United States.

Le célèbre styliste italien Nino Cerruti est décédé à l'âge de 91 ans, a appris samedi soir l'AFP d'une source du secteur de la mode, confirmant l'annonce des médias italiens. Son décès a eu lieu dans un hôpital de Vercelli, dans le Piémont (nord-ouest) où il se trouvait pour une opération à la hanche, selon le site du Corriere della Sera. «C'est un géant parmi les entrepreneurs italiens qui s'en va», a réagi le vice-ministre du Développement économique Gilberto Pichetto.

«Un grand innovateur, un créatif visionnaire et précurseur de nombreuses réalités d'aujourd'hui», a dit de lui Carla Capasa, président de la Chambre nationale de la mode italienne. «Il laisse un grand héritage: le courage d'investir et de croire dans les jeunes. A Tale of Two Sisters | Jackie & Lee Bouvier | Free Documentary History

Jan 11, 2022 •Jackie was a clever child growing up in an upper class family in New York. Her younger sister, Lee was continually trying to emulate her, as little sisters do. As the two grew older, a competitive element developed, but the divorce of their parents brought them closer.

Lee beat Jackie to the altar in April 1953, but Jackie then snagged the most eligible bachelor in the country, John F. Kennedy. In 1960, Jackie became First Lady. The responsibility was a great one and Jackie came to rely on her sister, not least after the devastating effects of the assassination of JFK in November 1963.

Once stymied by her unofficial role in the presidential family, Lee was now free to pursue her own dreams. She began writing and even launched a short-lived acting career.

Tragedy, however, stalked Jackie. In 1968, Robert Kennedy was assassinated. Perhaps it was that renewed grief that pushed Jackie into a fresh marriage to Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis freed from the Kennedy burden. This came as a particular shock to Lee, who had once conducted her own affair with the tycoon as her second marriage disintegrated. The relationship between sisters never truly recovered.

While Jackie today remains iconic, her sister Lee is less well-known. It is impossible however, to truly understand the life of one without the other.

In Ireland, where half the population relied on the potato as their main source of food, the impact was even more extreme. One million people died and between 1845 and 1855, two million emigrated. Today Ireland is the only country in the western world with a population lower than it had in the 1840s. The famine had broader repercussions. It caused the fall of the British government led by Robert Peel in 1846, was a catalyst for the revolutions that rocked Europe in 1848 and became the root for the global Irish Diaspora that today numbers 70,000,000 across the world.

Sep 8, 2017 • Prince Charles Edward was Queen Victoria’s favourite grandson. In 1900, the sixteen-year-old Prince was the only viable British contender for the hugely wealthy Dukedom of Saxe Coburg and Gotha in Germany. Ordered to go by Queen Victoria, he took the title and was transformed from a British Prince into a German Duke – Herzog Carl Eduard. The course of his life was altered in ways neither he nor Queen Victoria could have ever imagined.

At the outbreak of the First World War, Prince Charles Edward had no option but to fight for Germany against the country of his birth. When the War ended, he was stripped of his British titles, and an Act of Parliament branded him a Traitor Peer. Disillusioned and depressed, Charles Edward became an enthusiastic supporter of Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist Workers’ Party, and unwittingly helped him in his rise to power. Appointing him President of the Anglo German Fellowship, Hitler offered Charles Edward a way to return to Britain with his head held high.

Charles Edward was also President of the German Red Cross, and it was this that would ultimately embroil him in the darkest aspects of the Nazi regime, implicating him in the T4 Euthanasia Programme. At the end of the Second World War, he was arrested by the Americans, held in a series of harsh internment camps and forced to undergo a humiliating trial where, despite his claims he had no knowledge of the crimes of the regime, he was adjudged to have been an important Nazi and was almost bankrupted by heavy fines. He died in poverty and obscurity in Germany in 1954. His sister Princess Alice, who had stayed in England, became one of the most popular members of the Royal Family and a favourite aunt of Queen Elizabeth II. She was the living embodiment of the life her brother could have had, if it had not been for Queen Victoria’s fateful decision fifty years earlier. Documentary first broadcast in 2007.

Prince Andrew: Ruthless Royals Move to Limit the Damage

There was no waiting to see if Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, could clear his name in court. He's already lost the use of his HRH, and his military links have been severed.

Lead or Step Aside, Senior Tory Tobias Ellwood Tells Boris Johnson

BBC: Boris Johnson must "lead or step aside", senior Tory and former minister Tobias Ellwood has told the BBC.

Mr Ellwood, who chairs the defence select committee, said "we need leadership" following reports of parties being held in Downing Street while Covid restrictions were in place.

It comes as hundreds of angry constituents contact their MPs.

The government has urged people to reserve judgement until senior civil servant Sue Gray's inquiry is finished.

But Andrew Bridgen, Conservative MP for North West Leicestershire, said: "I don't need to see what Sue Gray says to know that for me Boris Johnson has lost the moral authority to lead the country.

Tsunami Hits Tonga after Underwater Volcanic Eruption

THE GUARDIAN: Streets and buildings flooded in Pacific nation’s main island following latest eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai

People have been forced to flee their homes, and streets and buildings have flooded, as tsunami waves crashed into Tonga’s main island of Tongatapu, following a huge underwater volcano explosion.

The eruption at 0410 GMT on Friday of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai underwater volcano, located about 65km (40 miles) north of Tonga’s capital, Nuku’alofa, caused a 1.2-metre tsunami, Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology said.

The eruption – captured in satellite images that show a huge plume of ash, steam and gas rising from the ocean – was heard and felt as far away as in Fiji and Vanuatu, where people reported feeling the ground and buildings shake for hours.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or the extent of the damage in Tonga, but videos posted to social media showed huge waves in coastal areas, swirling around homes and buildings.

April vergangenen Jahres eine Abschiedsparty in seinem Büro gegeben hat – am Abend vor der Beisetzung Prinz Philips. Auch Slack entschuldigte sich am Freitag „vorbehaltlos für den Ärger und die Schmerzen, die das verursacht hat“.

Die Party, die angeblich ohne Johnson stattfand, soll mit Musik und Tanz bis in den Morgen gedauert haben. Ein Mitarbeiter holte offenbar mit einem Koffer Alkohol-Nachschub in einem Supermarkt. Queen Won’t Risk Bailing Out Prince Andrew, Say Royal Experts

THE TIMES: The Queen will not bail out the Duke of York to help to fund a financial settlement with Virginia Giuffre, according to royal experts.

Ingrid Seward, the royal biographer, believes that providing him with money would be too damaging to the Queen’s reputation and that she would rather leave him to face the allegations in court.

David McClure, who has written books about royal finances, believes the prince would not have enough money to cover a settlement himself. He said that the recent sale by the duke of a chalet in Verbier, the Swiss ski resort, has revealed him to be “extremely cash poor”.
