Anne Frank 'Posthumously Baptised as a Mormon'

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Anne Frank, one of the most revered victims of the Holocaust, was posthumously baptised by the Mormon church, according a researcher examining the church's proxy records.

The allegations come just a week after The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apologised when it was brought to light that the parents of Holocaust survivor and Jewish rights advocate Simon Wiesenthal were posthumously baptised by church members at temples in Arizona and Utah in late January.

Mormon researcher Helen Radkey, who revealed the Wiesenthal baptisms, said this week she found Anne Frank's name in proxy baptism records dated Feb 18, showing the ritual was performed in the Santo Domingo Temple in the Dominican Republic.

The Mormon church almost immediately issued a statement, though it didn't mention Frank by name.

"The Church keeps its word and is absolutely firm in its commitment to not accept the names of Holocaust victims for proxy baptism," the Salt Lake City-based church said. "It is distressing when an individual wilfully violates the Church's policy and something that should be understood to be an offering based on love and respect becomes a source of contention." » | AP | Friday, February 24, 2012

Anne Frank Graphic Novel Published

NEWSOXY: Anne Frank biography and graphic novel.

Anne Frank graphic novel and biography will be published this month. Frank's graphic novel will detail Anne's life during Jewish wartime. Anne Frank is one of the most talked about Jewish victims and the novel is supposed to be graphic in detail.

The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is a museum committed to the Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank, who hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the building. As well as the preservation of the hiding place and an exhibition on the life and times of Anne Frank, the museum acts as an exhibition space to highlight all forms of persecution and discrimination. The Anne Frank House has decided to publish a graphic biography to make the young writer's story easily accessible to a wider audience. >>> John Lester, Staff Writer | Sunday, July 11, 2010

Gies and other employees of Anne's father, Otto, smuggled food and books to the Franks as they hid with the van Daan family for two years, from 1942 to 1944, in a secret annex above Frank's business premises in Amsterdam.

Anne's diary, a log of life in hiding, which ended in betrayal, is one of the most enduring records of the Holocaust. Anne was sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where she died of typhus.

Mrs Gies found Anne's diary after the family was deported and locked the papers away, handing them over to Otto Frank, the family's sole survivor, after the war. >>> | Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Dutch Teens Convicted of Insulting Jews Ordered to Visit Anne Frank House

HAARETZ: A Dutch judge has ordered four teenagers to visit the Anne Frank House museum after finding them guilty of discrimination for insulting Jews at a rally.

The boys, aged 14 to 17, must turn in a report to the Hague Police Judge about their visit the canal house in Amsterdam where Anne Frank and her family hid from Nazi occupiers during World War II.

The four boys were convicted Friday for insulting Jews who were protesting Israel's military attack on Gaza. Prosecutors say two boys held a banner with a swastika superimposed on the Star of David, and two shouted "Hamas, Hamas, all Jews to the gas."

The judge also convicted and fined three adults for shouting anti-Semitic slogans at the Jan. 18 rally in The Hague. [Source: Haaretz] The Associated Press | Sunday, March 15, 2009
