Claudia Scheinbaum’s decision not to deliver oil to Cuba in Cuba’s hour of need is disappointing indeed. Prior to this news, I had held this lady in high regard. But her halo has truly slipped now! One doesn’t have to be a fan of Cuba’s economic system—I am not—to care about human beings who are suffering unnecessarily. Mexico’s help could have been a lifeline for the long-suffering Cubans. Maybe China will now step in to fill the void. — © Mark Alexander
