May 4, 2021 • Bis Mitte Oktober sollten Großbritannien und die EU ihre künftigen Beziehungen nach dem Brexit geklärt haben, anderenfalls steht wieder das Szenario eines harten Brexit ohne Deal im Raum. Vor allem die Schotten fürchten eine Verschlechterung ihrer Lebensbedingungen. Sie haben mehrheitlich gegen den Brexit gestimmt. Viele fühlen sich von der Regierung in London zunehmend entfremdet. Nirgendwo sonst ist Premier Boris Johnson so unbeliebt, nirgendwo sonst ist die Kritik an seiner Corona-Politik so stark. But in China, a determined group of young men and women just won’t take no for an answer. About 800 special invitees are piling aboard a cruise ship to witness the marriages of nine LGBT couples in a brazen statement against China’s law and traditional family values.
But there’s a hitch. Even though shipboard marriages have no legal standing in China, authorities are edgy about this “immoral” cruise and the defiance it represents. They move to stop the ship sailing, threatening to blow up months of planning.

“Vichy protected French Jews and gave the foreign Jews,” Mr. Zemmour said in September on CNews, a growing Fox News-like TV channel, one of several remarks suggesting that the wartime government of Marshal Philippe Pétain that sent more than 72,500 Jews to their deaths was not so bad after all.
The comment was shocking not least because Mr. Zemmour is Jewish. From 1942 onward, there is no evidence that the Vichy regime tried to protect French Jews. It collaborated with the Nazis to round up Jews, whether foreign or French.
Clearly borrowed from the Trump playbook of staying at the top of the news through provocation and outrage, Mr. Zemmour’s declarations have divided the French Jewish community and made the unsayable sayable. The announcement by the US supreme court that Texas’s new law banning abortions after six weeks would be allowed to stand, until it hears the federal government’s case against it on 1 November, was a blow to anyone hoping that the court might block attempts to remove women’s constitutional right to abortion. The 1973 decision that established this right, Roe v Wade, is a landmark in the history of the court.
The challenge brought by the Biden administration aims to overturn the Texas law on grounds that the state has violated the court’s authority. By outsourcing enforcement of its abortion ban to private citizens, who since September have been allowed to sue anyone who helps a woman obtain an abortion, Texas legislators have sought “to evade the traditional mechanisms for judicial review”, the suit states. The justice department argues that this is a dangerous precedent with the potential to undermine other supreme court decisions. PINK NEWS: David Beckham has reportedly signed a deal worth £150 million to become the “face of Qatar” ahead of next year’s World Cup.
According to The Sun, Beckham will “promote tourism and culture” for the next decade in the country, which is strongly anti-LGBT+ and has an atrocious human rights record.
The deal was first reported by The Mail on Sunday in February, although it is still unclear what duties the role will involve. He will reportedly earn £15 million a year for the next decade.
Beckham, who in 2007 said he was “honoured to have the tag of gay icon” and is an ambassador for UNICEF, spent a week in Qatar this month, one of the most dangerous places in the world to be LGBT+.
In a vague statement, a spokesperson for Beckham told The Telegraph: “David has been visiting Qatar regularly for over a decade and went on to play for [Qatar-owned Paris Saint-Germain] so he has seen the passion for football in the country and the long-term commitment that’s been made to hosting this World Cup and delivering a lasting legacy for the region.

Bosses of multiple trade bodies and businesses in the trucking and food industries have written to the prime minister saying not enough had been done to resolve the crisis and urging him to intervene personally.
They said measures intended to plug the gap, including a temporary three month visa for HGV drivers, “simply do not go far enough to tackle the crisis and protect the UK economy in the months ahead”.
“Without further action, this will only get worse, particularly as we begin the countdown to Christmas,” they added.

A former senior Saudi intelligence officer has claimed that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is a “psychopath with no empathy” who once boasted that he could kill the kingdom’s ruler at the time, King Abdullah, and replace him with his own father.
In an interview on US television, Saad Aljabri, who fled Saudi Arabia in May 2017 and is living in exile in Canada, also said he had been warned by an associate in 2018, after the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, that a Saudi hit team was heading to Canada to kill him.
Aljabri told 60 Minutes on CBS he was warned “don’t be in a proximity of any Saudi mission in Canada. Don’t go to the consulate. Don’t go to the embassy.” When he asked why, he said he was told “they dismembered the guy, they kill him. You are on the top of the list.”
Some details of the alleged murder plot, which were detailed in litigation in the US and Canada, have already been reported. But the 60 Minutes interview represents the first time Aljabri has publicly spoken about his break with Prince Mohammed.

Considering the dreadful history of the middle of the twentieth century, it is truly astonishing that people with such obnoxious and disturbing views should exist at all in the twenty-first century. LE FIGARO : Un tremblement de terre d'une magnitude de 6,5 a frappé le nord-est de Taïwan dimanche selon l'agence de météorologie, les habitants signalant de fortes secousses dans la capitale Taipei mais aucun rapport ne faisant état de dégâts importants dans l'immédiat.
L'agence de météorologie de Taïwan a constaté un tremblement de terre de magnitude 6,5, tandis que l'US Geological Survey a donné une force plus faible de 6,2. Il a frappé le comté de Yilan au nord-est à 13H11 heure locale (05H11 GMT) à une profondeur de 67 kilomètres (42 miles). Latin America Has Become an Unlikely Leader in LGBT Rights
QUARTZ: In 2010, Argentina became the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage, largely due to the work of LGBT activists like Esteban Paulon.
Paulon, who didn’t have a partner at the time, saw this movement as a political struggle, rather than a personal one.
“I fought for the law without knowing if I would ever get married or not,” said Paulon, vice president of the Argentine LGBT Federation. “But on the journey to this achievement, I met my partner.”
Paulon and his partner were married three years after the law was passed—turning a national political achievement into a personal milestone they were able to celebrate with their friends and family.
“If the state says that all families are equal before the law and that all families have the same worth, this inevitably has an effect on daily life and on social perception about sexual diversity,” Paulon said. “The fact of being able to access marriage is also personal.”
Since 2010, more than 15,000 same-sex couples have been married in Argentina, the tenth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. The decision illustrated Latin America’s unlikely leadership in the fight for LGBT equal rights. Indeed, the focus on the US gay rights movement has overshadowed other countries where important gains have been won. Alors que les négociations s'accélèrent en Allemagne autour du social-démocrate Olaf Scholz et que la prochaine réunion des Vingt-Sept est programmée peu avant Noël, il fallait rendre hommage à la chancelière. Le président du Conseil européen, -Charles Michel, l'a fait vendredi matin.
Les réunions des Vingt-Sept « sans Angela, c'est Rome sans le Vatican, Paris sans la tour Eiffel », a-t-il affirmé. À la surprise générale, Charles Michel a ensuite fait diffuser un message de l'ancien président des États-Unis, Barack Obama. Louant le « sens de l'humour », « le pragmatisme sage » et « la boussole morale constante » de la chancelière, celui-ci s'est dit « heureux d'être devenu votre ami ». PINK NEWS: A gay man from Afghanistan who was burned by a Taliban member has said he is “shocked” by the lack of support and solidarity shown by the international LGBT+ community.
Sohil – whose surname has been withheld to protect his identity – is a young gay Afghan whose life was thrown into disarray when the Taliban seized power in August.
Afghanistan was never accepting of homosexuality, but he was in contact with a small network of other gay people. Now, they’re all “living in the shadows” – hiding themselves to evade capture and torture by the extremist group.
“Imagine you have all the great hopes for your life, you have everything, and then one day you wake up and everything is gone,” he tells PinkNews. “I lost my university, I lost my life, I lost my community. Even the boys I was in contact with, they are all living in the shadows. They are all hiding themselves.”
His daily life is very different to what it was before the Taliban took over. Sohil says he was just a “normal person” before extremists weaponised his sexuality. He was a medical student who had ambitions to get out of Afghanistan and build a life for himself. The Queen Spent Night in Hospital after Cancelling Northern Ireland Visit

The Queen spent Wednesday night in hospital after cancelling a visit to Northern Ireland, Buckingham Palace has said.
The 95-year-old had been due to take part in a two-day trip, but doctors told her that she should rest for a couple of days at Windsor Castle.
However she was then admitted to hospital for “preliminary investigations”. She returned to Windsor on Thursday.
The Queen was seen by specialists at the private King Edward VII’s hospital in central London. Her admittance is understood not to have been related to coronavirus. It was her first overnight stay in hospital since 2013, when she also spent one night at the King Edward VIII, being treated for gastroenteritis.

The Queen spent Wednesday night in hospital after cancelling a visit to Northern Ireland, Buckingham Palace has said.
The 95-year-old had been due to take part in a two-day trip, but doctors told her that she should rest for a couple of days at Windsor Castle.
However she was then admitted to hospital for “preliminary investigations”. She returned to Windsor on Thursday.
The Queen was seen by specialists at the private King Edward VII’s hospital in central London. Her admittance is understood not to have been related to coronavirus. It was her first overnight stay in hospital since 2013, when she also spent one night at the King Edward VIII, being treated for gastroenteritis.

Level: Easy | Total: 1 hr | Prep: 15 min | Inactive: 10 min | Cooking time: 35 min | Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients:
1/4 cup good olive oil
3 tablespoons minced garlic (9 cloves)
1/3 cup dry white wine
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest (2 lemons)
2 tablespoons freshly-squeezed lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 boneless chicken breasts, skin on (6 to 8 ounces each)
1 lemon
Directions [Method]:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. [200C]
Warm the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add the garlic, and cook for just 1 minute but don't allow the garlic to turn brown. Off the heat, add the white wine, lemon zest, lemon juice, oregano, thyme, and 1 teaspoon salt and pour into a 9 by 12-inch baking dish.
Pat the chicken breasts dry and place them skin side up over the sauce. Brush the chicken breasts with olive oil and sprinkle them liberally with salt and pepper. Cut the lemon in 8 wedges and tuck it among the pieces of chicken.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken breasts, until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is lightly browned. If the chicken isn't browned enough, put it under the broiler [grill] for 2 minutes. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and serve hot with the pan juices.

The island’s governor general, Dame Sandra Mason, was elected almost unanimously by the former British colony’s parliament on Wednesday, with only one member declining to vote.
Mason, a 72-year-old judge and former ambassador, will be sworn in on 30 November, the 55th anniversary of her country’s independence from Britain in 1966.

The NHS said "things are only going to get worse" and that "the health service is right at the edge." Despite the gloomy outlook, Health Minister Sajid Javid has resisted calls for restrictions to be reintroduced.
Medical professionals are calling on the UK government to restore social distancing restrictions, as Covid-related hospitalizations and deaths rise to levels not seen in months. England eased most restrictions back in July. The UK had one of the fastest vaccination rollouts in the world - now the government says it's relying on booster shots to protect the most vulnerable.
