Parallel wollen beide Seiten ein vorgezogenes reines Handelsabkommen unterzeichnen, das vor dem Gesamtpaket in Kraft treten soll. EU-Handelskommissar Maroš Šefčovič sagte beim Unternehmergipfel am Donnerstag laut der Tageszeitung El Universal, dieses Interimsabkommen solle noch 2026 wirksam werden. Le secrétaire d'État américain Marco Rubio a averti jeudi Cuba que les États-Unis étaient « déterminés » à imposer un changement dans l'île communiste, au lendemain de l'inculpation par la justice américaine de l'ex-président cubain Raul Castro. « Leur système économique ne fonctionne pas. Il est défaillant, et on ne peut pas le réparer avec le système politique actuel », a déclaré Marco Rubio aux journalistes depuis sa ville natale de Miami.
« Ce à quoi ils se sont habitués toutes ces années, c'est simplement de gagner du temps et d'attendre que nous nous lassions », a-t-il ajouté. « Ils ne pourront ni faire traîner les choses ni gagner du temps. Pour que le système économique cubain puisse fonctionner, il faut le laisser tranquille. Aucun système économique, qu'il soit communiste ou capitaliste, ne peut fonctionner s'il est soumis à des sanctions permanentes et qu'on ne lui laisse aucune chance de se développer. Les déclarations dénonçant le dysfonctionnement du système économique cubain ne sont que des manœuvres de tromperie. LE FIGARO : GRAND RÉCIT - La Boisserie, demeure familiale des De Gaulle, a été l’abri de sa vie privée, mais aussi la citadelle où il a préparé ses grandes décisions politiques.
La nouvelle fait grand bruit : les quatre petits-fils du général de Gaulle veulent vendre La Boisserie, la célèbre demeure du fondateur de la Ve République à Colombey-les-deux-Églises (Haute-Marne). L’État, sauf coup de théâtre, va l’acquérir tant il serait inconcevable que le lieu n’appartienne pas au patrimoine national. La Boisserie, c’était le sanctuaire de De Gaulle, son havre loin du tumulte, le refuge de l’homme privé et de sa vie de famille. C’est là aussi que de Gaulle a écrit ses Mémoires de guerre, préparé ses grandes décisions politiques, rédigé, après avoir quitté le pouvoir en 1969, le début de ses Mémoires d’espoir. Il est mort dans sa maison le 9 novembre 1970 et repose au cimetière du village. L’homme du 18 Juin est indissociable de Colombey-les-deux-Églises.
Au bout d’une allée gravillonnée encadrée de grands arbres, La Boisserie, étonnamment simple avec un manteau de vigne vierge, apparaît. Belle pendant les beaux jours, austère l’hiver lorsqu’il gèle et que le ciel est sombre. Quand les De Gaulle découvrent le lieu, en 1934, la maison n’a pas l’eau courante. La propriétaire pompe l’eau dans une citerne, ou va la chercher au puits. L’installation électrique reste sommaire et des lampes à pétrole éclairent la plupart des pièces. Le pays est rude, le village isolé. Mais de Gaulle, alors âgé de 43 ans, est séduit par cette demeure digne, le parc de deux hectares et demi qui l’entoure et les forêts voisines. Who Runs Iran Now? A Hard-Line Military Band of Brothers.
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Decision making in the country is guided by a small group of men associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
When Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader for 37 years, was killed by Israel on Feb. 28, in the opening airstrike of the war against the Islamic Republic, he was succeeded by his son, Mojtaba.
But at 86, the ayatollah had wielded a level of influence that no replacement could soon match.
Senior Iranian officials maintain that all key matters are run by the 56-year-old heir. Decision making, however, extends beyond one man, experts say, guided by a small, elite band of mostly current or former senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
It is not the Guards as an organization that is exerting control, they say, but a hardened “band of brothers,” whose seminal experience was the brutal, eight-year war between Iran and Iraq that began in 1980.
Founded in 1979 to safeguard the newborn revolution and its leader, the Guards promoted these commanders to generals while they were still in their late 20s or early 30s. Western support for Iraq in the war convinced them that Iran had to forge its own way no matter what the cost.
After the war, they went on to control intelligence or security services. Most are believed to have some personal connection with Mojtaba Khamenei from the long years that he directed his father’s office.

When Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader for 37 years, was killed by Israel on Feb. 28, in the opening airstrike of the war against the Islamic Republic, he was succeeded by his son, Mojtaba.
But at 86, the ayatollah had wielded a level of influence that no replacement could soon match.
Senior Iranian officials maintain that all key matters are run by the 56-year-old heir. Decision making, however, extends beyond one man, experts say, guided by a small, elite band of mostly current or former senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
It is not the Guards as an organization that is exerting control, they say, but a hardened “band of brothers,” whose seminal experience was the brutal, eight-year war between Iran and Iraq that began in 1980.
Founded in 1979 to safeguard the newborn revolution and its leader, the Guards promoted these commanders to generals while they were still in their late 20s or early 30s. Western support for Iraq in the war convinced them that Iran had to forge its own way no matter what the cost.
After the war, they went on to control intelligence or security services. Most are believed to have some personal connection with Mojtaba Khamenei from the long years that he directed his father’s office.

“Cuba is willing to talk about everything with the United States. There is no taboo subject in our conversations — on the basis of reciprocity and equality,” Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, the Cuban ambassador, said in an interview on Wednesday.
But, he added, “obviously it does not help a climate of dialogue and trust that every other day there are statements like, ‘We are ready to take over Cuba,’” referring to recent comments by President Trump.
“Warmongering rhetoric does not help,” he said. “Building different pretexts for military aggression against Cuba, which is what they are building, does not help.”
The hourlong conversation was the first time in years that a sitting Cuban government official had granted an on-the-record interview to The Times.

The US special envoy to Greenland has said it’s time for Washington “to put its footprint back” on the Arctic island, as he wound up his first visit to the island since his appointment in December 2025.

Were America to be a person, one would say—with justification—that that person was committing slow suicide. But even though America is not a person, it can still be said to be committing suicide. Countries and empires can commit suicide, too. Especially when they enter self-destruct mode.
The US has enjoyed hegemonic status since 1945, since the end of World War II. This is because the war had destroyed the economies of Europe and of Asia, so America, relatively untouched as it was, was able to assume that pre-eminent role in the world. Especially because its GDP was equivalent of about the GDP of half of the rest of the world at that time, and especially because America possessed the strongest military. As a result, whenever the US commanded something, much of the rest of the world snapped to.
That was then; that was before the era of Trump. But this is now; and this is the era of Trump. So, everything has changed — for the worse. In a very short period of time, America has already started losing its pre-eminent position in the world. It is also in debt. Its debt is astronomical, standing as I write this at $39 trillion!
Trump is spending the nations’ money like a drunken sailor. He is engaged in an illegal and quite unnecessary war with Iran which has been costing the nation between one and two billion dollar a day! Trump insists that the federal government cannot afford universal healthcare for Americans, and nor can it afford to lift the millions of homeless poor out of their misery. But the nation can afford tax breaks for the superrich and it can afford to finance the killing machine. Such strange priorities for a country!
One doesn’t need a doctorate in rocket science to be able to say that this state of affairs is unsustainable. A nation, nay empire, that behaves in this corrupt, self-destructing manner will not be an empire for much longer. The shifting of hegemonic status will shift surely, but inexorably to the next emerging superpower.
