JD Vance Crashes and Burns in Disastrous Interview
Democracy is clearly on its last legs! There’s nary a decent politician left to run a democracy anymore! Where on earth have all the decent, upstanding, moderate politicians gone?
Here in the UK, the very worst thing to have happened to politics was the advent of the career politician. In years gone by, it was successful people who generally entered politics in order to ‘give something back to the country’. They were often already independently wealthy, so they didn’t need to milk the system. These days, people go into politics from university, usually, in order to make money, not to give anything back to society. They can’t do that since they have nothing to give back! They have had no experience of life. A good student does not necessarily make a good politician. Life’s experience counts for a lot.
We really are living in sad, dark times. The Age of Trump has been particularly sad and dark. The sooner Trump leaves the political stage, the better! — © Mark Alexander

And does he wear eyeliner? That is the question! The Web is replete with questions about whether JD wears eyeliner, or not. Google Images has a whole section on it! Lots of questions; few answers! 🤔 🤣 — © Mark Alexander

The Schmidt Storm: Kamala, Chaos and the Future of the Republican Party
How JD Vance Thinks About Power
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Mr. Vance has been blunt about wanting to break norms and test constitutional limits to execute his ideas: “We have to get pretty wild, pretty far out there.”
In September 2021, JD Vance offered two predictions about former President Donald J. Trump and one piece of advice.
Mr. Trump would run again in 2024, Mr. Vance said. He would win.
And when he did, Mr. Vance counseled, he needed the right people around him this time.
“Fire every single midlevel bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people,” Mr. Vance said on a podcast.
He continued.
“Then when the courts stop you, stand before the country like Andrew Jackson did,” Mr. Vance said, citing a (possibly apocryphal) quotation long attributed to America’s seventh president, “and say: ‘The chief justice has made his ruling. Now let him enforce it.’” » | Matt Flegenheimer | Saturday, August 3, 2024

JD Vance Calls Trump ‘Morally Reprehensible’ in Resurfaced Emails
THE GUARDIAN: Former friend releases messages largely from 2014-2017 in which Republican VP nominee also says: ‘I hate the police’
Questions continued to mount about the political transformation of Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, after the release of emails from a former friend in which Vance called Trump a “morally reprehensible human being” and said: “I hate the police.”
The messages between Vance and Sofia Nelson, who sent them to the New York Times, were largely dated between 2014 and 2017. In one, Vance sent Nelson a section of Hillbilly Elegy, his bestseller about his Appalachian boyhood.
“Here’s an excerpt from my book. I send this to you not just to brag, but because I’m sure if you read it you’ll notice reference to ‘an extremely progressive lesbian’,” Vance wrote.
“I recognise now that this may not accurately reflect how you think of yourself, and for that I am really sorry. I hope you’re not offended, but if you are, I’m sorry! Love you, JD.” » | Martin Pengelly in Washington | Monday, July 29, 2024
