Trump Holds the American People in Total Contempt
THE NEW YORK TIMES — OPINION: To say that President Trump is corrupt is to somehow understate the size, scope and magnitude of his corruption.
It is as if you were to describe a modern thermonuclear device as a “bomb.” That is true enough, but it is not quite the truth. It does not capture the nature of the thing in full.
So it goes for Trump’s corruption, which is so vast as to be a new phenomenon in American politics. The president and his family have leveraged his office to the tune of nearly $4 billion. They have received hundreds of millions of dollars from a network of branded cryptocurrency assets. Investors include large corporations, foreign nationals and state actors hoping to curry favor with the administration.
One such actor, according to The Wall Street Journal, was Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, brother and national security adviser to the president the United Arab Emirates. Tahnoon’s investment fund purchased a half-billion-dollar stake in the Trump family’s crypto fund, World Liberty Financial, just days before Trump’s second inauguration. Tahnoon has since successfully lobbied the White House for U.A.E. access to America’s most advanced A.I. chips, with a large portion going to Tahnoon’s A.I. company. » | Jamelle Bouie | Opinion Columnist | Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Spanish Prime Minister’s Wife Charged with Corruption
THE GUARDIAN: Pedro Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez, and two others charged after investigation triggered by group with far-right links
Begoña Gómez, the wife of Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, has been charged with embezzlement, influence peddling, corruption in business dealings and misappropriation of funds at the end of a two-year investigation by a judge in Madrid.
Gómez, 55, has been accused of using her influence as the wife of the socialist prime minister to secure and manage a post at Madrid’s Complutense University, and of using public resources and personal connections to further her private interests.
The judge, Juan Carlos Peinado, has also charged Gómez’s personal assistant, Cristina Álvarez, and a businessman, Juan Carlos Barrabés, in connection with the case.

Corruption in the White House - Trump Officials Are Getting Richer
I have come to the conclusion that just about everyone at the top is bloody corrupt. The Epstein files show us that this is true. Today, virtuous behaviour is very thin on the ground.
I was raised on the notion—the naïve notion as it has turned out—that one went into politics ‘to give something back’ AFTER one had become successful. Being in politics was viewed as a service to the nation. That sounds so quaint these days. These days, people go into politics TO BECOME RICH, by fair means or foul!
As for politics in America, we all know it is rotten and corrupt at its core. Particularly in Trump’s administration/regime. — © Mark Alexander

New Yorker Mag Reveals Trump Family's Frenzy to Cash In on the White House | Reupload
Aug 20, 2025 | "How much is Trump pocketing off the presidency?" That's the question driving a major new investigation by journalist David D. Kirkpatrick in The New Yorker, which finds that the first family has been leveraging its place atop U.S. politics to rake in billions. According to Kirkpatrick, Donald Trump and his immediate family have made $3.4 billion from his time in the White House, including more than $2.3 billion from various cryptocurrency ventures alone.
"What really surprised me about all this is just how fast they're making this money. They seem to turn down no opportunity," says Kirkpatrick. "It really sharpens the question of what a buyer, so to speak, might be getting for that."

Chris Murphy Exposes Trump's Family Corruption on Prediction Markets, Introduces Bill amid Iran War
As I have said many times before, Trump has turned a once decent and admired nation into a SHITHOLE! If the powers-that-be had had the SPUNK, Trump, the Felon- and Sex Offender-in-Chief, would have been sent to prison and locked up for good! Just think of how many innocent lives would have been saved in America and around the world had someone in high office had the SPUNK, the COURAGE, to act WISELY on behalf of the NATION! Wars, chaos, corruption, and a probable impending serious downturn in the world economy could have been avoided. An old, cruel, corrupt man with galloping dementia is really NOT the right man to lead the most powerful nation on earth. When America F***S UP, the rest of the world is SCREWED! — © Mark Alexander

Trump's 'Unchecked Corruption' Is Splintering the Maga Coalition
Dec 5, 2025 | "Even just the perception of this stinks."
Trump is a "lame duck" whose family are "just trying make the most amount of money" while they can but the GOP is worried about what this will do to the Maga coalition, says Washington reporter for Politico, Daniel Lippman.

Zelensky’s Top Aide Resigns Amid Widening Corruption Scandal
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Andriy Yermak, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff and top peace negotiator, became the highest-ranking casualty of an investigation into a vast kickback scheme.
President Volodymyr Zelensky’s powerful chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, resigned on Friday in the highest-level political realignment in Ukraine since Russia’s all-out invasion nearly four years ago.
The departure of Mr. Yermak, who had headed Ukraine’s negotiating team in peace talks with the Trump administration, also put in doubt the future of the latest round of diplomatic efforts by the United States, Ukraine and European nations to end the war.
Mr. Yermak stepped down amid a spiraling, $100 million embezzlement scandal that has already led to the dismissal of two cabinet ministers and even threatened to topple Mr. Zelensky’s entire cabinet.
“I am grateful to Andriy for always representing Ukraine’s position in the negotiation track exactly as it should be represented,” Mr. Zelensky said in a video address announcing the resignation. He said he had accepted the resignation to “avoid rumors and speculation” about his chief of staff.
Mr. Yermak, 54, is the highest-level official to lose his job in the fallout from the 15-month investigation called Operation Midas, revealed by Ukraine’s top anti-corruption agencies, which said the effort had produced 1,000 hours of wiretaps.
Mr. Yermak has not been officially named in the investigation. But on Friday, investigators searched his home in Kyiv. » | Kim Barker and Andrew E. Kramer | Reporting from Kyiv, Ukraine | Friday, November 28, 2025

Democracy Now! "Master Plan": David Sirota on the Elite Plot to Legalize Corruption in the U.S.
Oct 29, 2025 | We speak with journalist David Sirota about his new book, Master Plan: The Hidden Plot to Legalize Corruption in America. Co-authored with Jared Jacang Maher, the book is based on their award-winning investigative podcast of the same name for The Lever.
Sirota says that while the United States is now "immersed in corruption" in a way that seems like an inevitable part of politics, it is the result of a decades-long agenda by the wealthy to deregulate the campaign finance system and to essentially make anti-bribery laws unenforceable. "This is all part of a plan by a corporate movement that sees democracy — the government providing what people want — sees that as a threat."
