THE NEW YORK TIMES: JD Vance, the vice president, sat down with Nigel Farage, a longtime supporter of President Trump whose party, Reform U.K., is leading in British polls.
Vice President JD Vance began his family vacation in England last Friday with a lightning round of carp fishing. He hasn’t slowed down since, taking part in conference calls about Ukraine, huddling with Britain’s foreign minister, David Lammy, and meeting fellow right-wing political figures.
On Wednesday morning, it was the turn of Nigel Farage, the leader of the insurgent, anti-immigrant party Reform U.K. He sat down with Mr. Vance, according to an official familiar with the vice president’s schedule, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he said this was a personal trip.
Mr. Farage confirmed the meeting, saying in a statement: “Good to catch up with my old friend JD Vance this morning. Everything we discussed remains confidential.”
Earlier, the official said, Mr. Vance met Robert Jenrick, a Conservative lawmaker who is viewed a rising force on the right flank of the Conservative Party. But he did not meet the party’s leader, Kemi Badenoch, an omission that both sides chalked up to logistical hurdles. » | Mark Landler | Reporting from London | Wednesday, August 13, 2025

Lee Anderson’s Constituents Stunned When They’re Told about Reform’s NHS Plans
THE LONDON ECONOMIC: "I thought the Reform party were more on our side."
Lee Anderson’s constituents have been left stunned after being told about Reform UK’s plans for the NHS.
Whilst Reform may be experiencing a surge in the polls, one issue they can’t seem to shake off their backs is the fact their leader, Nigel Farage, has previously called for the NHS to move towards an insurance-based system.
Reform’s Anderson was re-elected as MP for Ashfield last July, but it turns out a fair few of his constituents aren’t quite aware of his leader’s views.
So, the Trades Union Congress decided to head to Ashfield to open their eyes to what Farage has said in the past about the NHS. » | Charlie Herbert | Wednesday, July 27, 2025
‘Farage collapsed the economy with Brexit, and faced no consequences’ – Stephen Flynn: With the BBC facing criticism about the amount of airtime they are giving Nigel Farage, some awkward questions have started to emerge. »
Nigel Farage is a fraud. The NHS would NOT be safe in his hands. People who would vote for that egocentric and self-serving man would need their heads read! Keep Farage&Co well away from Downing Street! He has stuffed up the country once already, with Brexit. Don’t let him finish off the job. – © Mark Alexander

Michael Lambert: Farage for PM? Are We Completely Mad?
Aug 2, 2025 | Nigel Farage, more than anyone else is responsible for the disastrous Brexit which everyone can now see has been extremely damaging to the UK and yet he is the favourite to become the next Prime Minister of the UK.
Despite the massive damage Brexit has done to the UK economy, reputation and standing in the world Nigel Farage accepts no responsibility for the results of Brexit, preferring to blame others. And yet an ever increasing number of people seem prepared to vote for Farage's new party UK.
His fellow MPs, Richard Tice, Lee Anderson and newly-elected Sarah Pochin are all inexperienced whilst two other MPs, Rupert Lowe and James McMurdoch have both been forced to resign over different scandals.
Many voters who are disappointed with the current Labour government and others who are disappointed with the Conservative opposition may well vote for Reform UK in protest.

Farage Launches Crime Campaign Then 'Immediately Backs Rioters'
Jul 22, 2025 | "This is the strange paradox that is the Nigel Farage crime campaign."
Nigel Farage wants people to think the country is "getting out of control" because it's the kind of thing that will get voters to "press the big red Reform button", says The Time's James Marriott.
For heaven’s sake, keep Farage well away from Number 10. Electing that man into power would be a catastrophe for this country. The loudmouth and troublemaker has already caused lots of damage to the United Kingdom with his dim-witted Brexit. To take the next step and elect him into power would be the ruination of this country. The man is a mini version of Trump. If you want to know what his policies would be, all you need do is look across the Pond and see what Goldilocks is doing! Even Trump’s insane, exceptionally cruel, and depraved policy of sending people to El Salvador is a policy which Farage wants to emulate. I hope to God that the British electorate will not be as naïve and foolhardy as to put a cross by the side of that man’s name when the election comes ‘round. I hope and trust that they will have more sense. (But I am not holding my breath!) – © Mark Alexander

Macron Snubbed Him – Farage Lost It | Does He Want the Migrant Crisis?
Jul 15, 2025 | When Macron floated the idea of a deal to help control the Channel crossings, Nigel Farage lost his temper — and let something slip. He said there’s “no advantage” in a migrant deal with France.
But here’s the real question: Does Farage even want the crisis to end? Because without it, who would he blame? What would he rant about? He needs the boats. He needs the outrage. He doesn’t want solutions — he wants headlines. And Macron’s calm offer of cooperation made that crystal clear.
Very well said. If people want to know what a Farage premiership would look like, they need look no further than Trump's cruel and shameful dystopia across the Pond. Trump is Farage’s hero. That should tell people all they need to know about the self-serving loudmouth and troublemaker. In school, one called such people sh**stirrers! – © Mark Alexander

Nigel Farage Told to Shut Up as MPs Don't Let Him Speak at PMQs
Jul 9, 2025 | "Will you shut up?" Nigel Farage's turn at PMQs is met with clamour and chaos as opposition MPs talk over his question to the prime minister.
Hugo Rifkind is joined by chief political commentator for The Times Patrick. Maguire, Times Radio political correspondent Theo Usherwood, and comedian Jon Harvey to unpack the action at PMQs.
The latest political news and interviews from Times Radio.
Loudmouth and troublemaker Nigel Farage is a true pain in the butt. That man has caused so many people in this country nothing but pain and misery, to say nothing about what he has done to our shrinking economy. All because of his obsession with Brexit and that ever-elusive sovereignty. He lined his own pockets so well from the EU coffers and continues to line his pockets with his regressive ideas and damaging, far-right, populist ideology. Why? Because many continue to be taken in by him. Frankly, one wishes that he would shut his mouth, once and for all! That man thinks not of what is good for the people, but of what is good for his pocket and bank balance. – © Mark Alexander

Keir Starmer Accuses Nigel Farage of Taking People for Fools’ in Wales
THE GUARDIAN: Starmer makes claim in speech to Welsh Labour conference as polls suggest Reform could be biggest party in Senedd after next year’s elections
Keir Starmer has used his keynote speech at the Welsh Labour conference to launch an attack on Nigel Farage, as the prime minister turned from fighting off a rebellion of his own MPs, to fighting off the threat of Reform.
Starmer said Farage was “taking people for fools” in Wales, and criticised the Reform leader’s recent visit to Port Talbot, during which he demanded the reopening of Welsh coalmines to provide fuel for the town’s now shuttered steel making blast furnaces.
“Just look what he said … pretending he has a plan to reopen a blast furnace. Nigel Farage isn’t interested in Wales. He is interested in Nigel Farage,” Starmer said. » | Bethan McKernan Wales correspondent | Saturday, June 28, 2025

Michael Lambert: How Brexit Has Wrecked the UK Economy
Jun 28, 2025 | Last week saw the 9th anniversary of the referendum in which the UK voted to leave the EU. Since Brexit, the UK has struggled economically and faces several major challenges.
Jonathan 'Johnny' Reynolds is the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry charged with spearheading the UK's push for growth. Reynolds who was previously a trainee solicitor and then an assistant to MP James Purnell has no previous business experience. Despite this, he boasts of three major trade deals with, India, the EU, and the USA. It is estimated that these three deals will add less than 1% to the UK GDP in about ten years’ time. Leaving the EU has cost the UK at least 4% of GDP.
Since growth in the UK is very slow owing to the overall economic conditions, and since it is now almost impossible for small and medium sized businesses to sell to the EU given the onerous post-Brexit paperwork and expense involved, it is difficult to see where growth can be found.
Since leaving the EU, the UK has suffered from a shortage of workers in many sectors of the economy, including the NHS, care, hospitality, construction, food processing, and agriculture.
Whilst some EU workers were initially replaced by those from countries such as Nigeria, Bangladesh, and India in response to calls from Nigel Farage, the government has now introduced minimum salary requirements of almost £40,000 per annum for anyone seeking work in the UK. The result is likely to be much more severe shortages.
The government plans to train up British citizens to do the work formally done by foreign workers. Inward investment, often amounting to foreign companies buying UK infrastructure and businesses has dried up, although it is expected that major US asset managers will soon start buying up and renting back UK housing stock.

Truth To Power: Pro-Trump Nigel Farage Aligns with Putin on Ukraine
Mar 8, 2025 | This week saw the latest chapter in Nigel Farage’s never-ending quest to be the most controversial man in British politics. Farage has decided to double down on cosying up to Donald Trump and, by extension, Vladimir Putin, while turning against Ukraine and criticising its president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Farage, the man most responsible for a Brexit avidly welcomed by Putin’s Russia, and which has weakened Britain on the global stage, that same Farage is now overtly siding with Putin over Zelenskyy, a democratically elected leader fighting for his country’s survival. …

Michael Lambert: How Farage and Brexit Wrecked the British Economy
Jan 25, 2025 | Nigel Farage is a conman. He is only interested in his own fame and making money. For twenty years he was a member of the European parliament during which time he complained and argued incessantly for the UK to leave the EU ich resulted in the disastrous Brexit which has caused so much harm to the UK economy and reputation.
Nigel Farage is now an MP and yet he earns more than £1 million per year from outside activities and claims that he received more than £2 million in expenses over a ten-year period whilst he was an MEP.
He recently told reporters in America that he could be the next UK prime minister.
Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor of the Exchequer attended the World Economic Forum in Davos this week accompanied by Johnathan Reynolds the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade where they were both interviewed by Bloomberg . The interview was a disaster in which Reynolds demonstrated his lack of understanding of his job or how to create any growth in the UK economy.
It is difficult to see how Keir Starmer and Reeves can survive given the constant flow of bad economic news. One person who might be able to save the situation is the First Secretary to the Treasury, Darren Jones.

Farage Is a Fake and Only a Matter of Time before He Is Found Out
Jan 19, 2025 | I do not wish ill on Farage - and certainly do not anticipate his "demise" but I certainly predict a time when he will have to deliver something of value rather than carping against the establishment and making a tidy buck on the side.
I have never liked Farage. The man is a fraud. He is in politics only for his own ends: he's in politics to feather his own nest. He laughs all the way to the bank even while he is impoverishing the masses. Whom do I dislike the most: Farage, Trump, or Musk? Difficult question! The answer would be complex. When all is said and done, they are all self-serving and self-aggrandizing. Bad actors. – © Mark Alexander

Farage and Truss Attend UK Launch of US Climate Denial Group
THE GUARDIAN: British arm of Heartland, which has taken oil and Republican funding, to be led by ex-Ukip head Lois Perry
Climate science deniers are lining up a political offensive in Britain after a US lobby group opened a UK branch which is already working with Nigel Farage.
The Reform UK leader was the guest of honour at the launch of Heartland UK/Europe, which is to be headed by a former leader of Ukip and climate denier.
The former prime minister Liz Truss was seen at the event in London, alongside current Tory MPs Andrew Griffith, who is the shadow trade minister, and Christopher Chope.
The establishment of this UK branch of the Heartland Institute – which has links to the incoming Trump administration and has drawn on funding from companies including ExxonMobil and wealthy US Republican donors – comes as Farage seeks to make hostility to net zero a centrepiece of Reform’s electoral pitch. Reform MPs have used speaking time in parliament to push for the scrapping of net zero targets and to call for new coalmines. » | Helena Horton and Ben Quinn | Wednesday, January 15, 2025

Twelve Reform UK Councillors to Resign over Nigel Farage’s Leadership
THE GUARDIAN: Exclusive: Departures will add to pressure on party leader after Elon Musk said he was ‘not up to the job’
A dozen Reform UK councillors have given notice of their intention to resign en masse in protest at Nigel Farage’s leadership.
The resignations could come as early as Friday evening and will add to pressure on the Reform leader after Elon Musk said he was “not up to the job”. They are timed to overshadow the party’s south-east conference this weekend.
The councillors alleged the party was being run in an “autocratic manner” and accused Farage of “disloyalty” to long-term members. There are splits within the party over the jailed far-right activist Tommy Robinson, who is supported by Musk. » | Ben Quinn | Friday, January 10, 2025

Musk's Dad: Tommy Robinson Will Lead Britain, He's Like Mandela
Jan 7, 2025 | “History will tell you that there's a very good chance that Tommy Robinson will one day be the prime minister of England.”
Tommy Robinson’s imprisonment will lead to him becoming leader as it did with Nelson Mandela after he was sentenced to life in prison in South Africa in 1964, says Elon Musk’s father Errol Musk.
Tommy Robinson understands the problem this country and the West has with Islam pretty well — Did he read my book years ago, I wonder? — but he is hardly prime minister material.
Why is this Musk family interfering in the political affairs of other countries? Who do the Musks think they are? Having loads of dosh doesn’t give them the right to steer the politics of Western nations to the far right!
As an aside, it is pretty obvious to me that the Musks have got far more money than they have class (or common sense)! My advice to Musk and his father: STFU! – © Mark Alexander
