In den letzten zehn Jahren ist die Zahl rassistisch motivierter Gewalttaten kontinuierlich gestiegen.

He died in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting another trial for running a sex trafficking operation involving underage girls. The latest release – made up of more than 3 million documents, images, and videos – gives new insights into Epstein's ties to the rich and powerful.
It is also fuelling speculation that Epstein could have been working for Russia. The suspicion is that Epstein would lure his powerful connections into sexual encounters, which were then used for the purposes of blackmail.
This tactic is synonymous with Russian intelligence, who have their very own name for this compromising material: 'kompromat'. At least one European leader appears to be taking the potential Russian connection very seriously – Polish prime minister Donald Tusk. He has ordered a probe into whether Epstein's activities were directed by the Kremlin.

The protests are largely over in Iran, crushed by the heavy hand of the government, but the retribution is just beginning.
Doctors who treated injured protesters have been swept up in mass arrests, beloved businesses have been seized and shuttered, and critical media has been silenced — all to stamp out the possibility of further unrest.
Even families holding funerals for loved ones killed during the crackdown have been ordered not to cry in public.
Several rights groups estimate that up to 40,000 people have been detained since protests began, many on charges of being “rioters” or “terrorists.” Many have made televised confessions that rights groups say are likely forced.
Activists say the scope and scale of the repression tactics are perhaps the most sweeping in the Islamic Republic’s history.
“It’s collective punishment,” said Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the director of Iran Human Rights, an Oslo-based organization. “They want to traumatize a whole generation, so they won’t rise up again.”
The severity of the crackdown reflects how much Iran’s clerical leaders feel they have their backs to the wall, analysts say.

The two leaders have exchanged threats and insults since Trump returned to office in 2025, with Petro harshly criticizing the U.S. bombing of boats at sea and for threatening the sovereignty of countries in Latin America. Both leaders took a much more conciliatory tone after their meeting, with Petro sharing a photo of them shaking hands alongside a handwritten note from Trump calling it an "honor" and adding, "I love Colombia."
Colombian Senator Clara López Obregón, speaking to Democracy Now! from Bogotá, says the White House meeting was an important "repositioning" of the relationship, and cautions that the region needs a more coordinated response to "coercion" from the U.S. "Latin America, unfortunately, has been unable to structure meaningful and permanent instruments of collective action, so each country has to negotiate on its own from a position of weakness."

Apr 9, 2025 | By June 1940, Nazi Germany had already attacked Norway and Denmark, invaded Belgium and the Netherlands, crossed the Maginot Line and occupied Paris. France was cut in two: north of the demarcation line was the German-occupied zone, to the south was a zone headed by Marshal Pétain, whose seat of government was in the central spa town of Vichy. The Vichy regime very quickly – as early as October 1940 and without pressure from the Germans – passed the first Jewish laws. With the first of these, prefects in the southern zone had the right to lock up foreign Jews and Jewish refugees in camps, to which the Nazi regime deported Jews from the Rhineland and Westphalia. The German minister of foreign affairs had at first planned to deport German Jews to Madagascar, and Heydrich had instructed Eichmann to draw up a plan, but this was rapidly abandoned.
After the French capitulation, Nazi propaganda in which Jews were likened to rats was shown in all cinemas across the continent, from Poland to the English Channel, from Norway to Italy. The conquered lands fell under the Nazi jackboot right along the front, and Jewish men aged between 16 and 40 were shot. They had the backing of the army, the military and civilian administrations in the occupied zones. From August 1941, Jewish women and children were also targeted by the Einsatzgruppen and its local collaborators. On 29 and 30 September 1941, they methodically shot 33,000 Jewish men, women and children in the Babi Yar ravine near Kiev.

LE FIGARO : DÉCRYPTAGE - L’Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire (Anses) fait le point, dans un rapport publié ce mercredi, sur les risques liés à l’inhalation des substances contenues dans les e-liquides ou se formant lors du vapotage.
Quinze ans après leur arrivée sur le marché, les cigarettes électroniques sont entrées dans les habitudes : plus de 6% des adultes – soit environ 3 millions de personnes - vapotent quotidiennement en France. Quelles sont les conséquences sur leur santé ? Si un recul de quinze ans est insuffisant pour obtenir des certitudes, l’Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire (Anses) fait le point, dans un rapport publié mercredi, sur les risques liés à l’inhalation des substances contenues dans les e-liquides ou se formant lors du vapotage.
Selon cette expertise, la cigarette électronique doit être envisagée « uniquement comme solution transitoire pour arrêter le tabac » et les non-fumeurs, en particulier les jeunes, ne doivent pas être incités à en consommer. En effet, la e-cigarette ne peut pas être considérée comme un produit anodin. Elle est toutefois bien moins dangereuse que le tabac dont les effets sur la santé « sont à la fois graves, avérés et très documentés », note Benoît Labarbe, chef de l’unité d’évaluation des produits du tabac à l’Anses. Today in Oslo, he pleaded not guilty to the most serious of 38 counts against him – including four counts of rape. The charges also include abuse, acts of violence, transporting marijuana, and making death threats. Høiby was arrested again on Sunday on suspicion of assault, making threats with a knife and violating a restraining order.
The trial gets underway just days after revelations that Høiby's mother, Crown Princess Mette Marit had extensive contact with the late U-S sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – after he was convicted of child sex crimes in 2008.

Jan 19, 2017 | In La Falda, a small town in central Argentina, you can see the ruin of a luxurious hotel, but nobody would assume that this hotel played the role in German history it did. The hotel founded in 1899 helped the region to prosper and later Hitler to come to power. In the twenties, the famous and rich like the poet Berta Singer, the dancer Isadora Duncan, and the scientist.
Albert Einstein stayed here, while the owners visited Europe and met Adolf Hitler. From 1929, the hotel supported the NSDAP and even after it was closed down in 1945, it was used as a hiding place for persecuted fascists.
Nowadays, within the community of La Falda, people are arguing what to do with the ruins. Some want to demolish it while others want to host a museum and a cultural centre in it.
The filmmaker Cuini Amelio Ortiz, born in La Falda and now living in Germany, tells the story of the hotel in a fictional and documentarian style, moving somewhere between legend and reality; showing that German history left its traces in South America and how the fate of the inhabitants of La Falda is knitted together to Hitler’s Germany.
