Feb 27, 2026 | It's been a big few months for Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

Trump’s Goons Struggling to Keep Their Lies Straight about War with Iran

Feb 27, 2026 | The Trump regime is currently trying to manufacture consent for war with Iran, but they’re really struggling to keep their lies straight and settle for a single justification they can all get behind. In this video we’ll talk about why the war propaganda is lazy and laughably pathetic, and explain why there’s no good reason to start a war with Iran.

El Pastificio de Nicola: Biancomangiare: A Sicilian Dessert of Medieval Origin

Feb 26, 2026 | Biancomangiare is a traditional dessert from Sicily with medieval roots. Its name literally means “to eat white” and refers to a historical preparation in which the color white symbolized refinement and elegance at the table.

Over the centuries, the recipe evolved, yet its core idea remained unchanged: few ingredients, precise technique, and the necessary time. In Sicily, it became a simple, homemade dessert made with milk, sugar, and starch, delicately scented with lemon zest and served well chilled.

The earliest versions were thickened with wheat or rice starch and were often prepared with almond milk. Later, cornstarch [UK: cornflour] became common due to its neutral flavor and stable texture.

A modest dessert with a long history, still appreciated today for its clarity and balance.

Cuba Vows to Fight ‘Terrorist Aggression’ after Attack from US-registered Boat

THE GUARDIAN: Cuban president says country will ‘defend itself with determination’ after deadly coastal assault from exiles

Cuba has vowed to defend itself against any “terrorist and mercenary aggression”, a day after border guards said they had killed four exiles on a Florida-registered speedboat that opened fire on a patrol.

Cuba’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, wrote on X that the Caribbean country will “defend itself with determination and firmness” after the incident in which six other people on the boat were injured.

The incident has the potential to crank up tensions between Washington and Havana, which have been at at odds since US forces seized Cuba’s key ally, the Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, and the Trump administration imposed an oil blockade on the island in January. » | Ruaridh Nicoll in Havana | Thursday, February 26, 2026

Cuba Kills 4 Exiles Trying to "Infiltrate" Island by Boat as U.S. “Medieval Siege” of Cuba Continues

Feb 26, 2026 | Cuban exiles on a U.S.-registered speedboat attempted to enter Cuba undetected, but were confronted by border patrol in Cuban waters on Wednesday. According to the Cuban Interior Ministry, the Cuban nationals on the speedboat fired on the border agents who then returned fire — killing four and injuring six of the men. This comes as the Trump administration’s blockade of fuel has triggered a severe humanitarian and economic crisis in Cuba, compounding the impact of the U.S. economic embargo in place since 1962. In response to the growing humanitarian crisis, activists are organizing a flotilla to deliver aid to the island. “We cannot allow us to go back to the days of gunboat diplomacy, where the U.S. thinks that it is allowed to violate sovereign nations, and it can have hegemony over the hemisphere,” says CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin, who is taking part in the flotilla. “These are sovereign countries. We must leave them alone.”

Americans are a cruel people. Trump is especially cruel. Americans call themselves Christian—Nay! They insist that they are Christian—but Jesus wouldn’t recognise them as such. Americans are about as far away from Christianity and Christian principles as it is possible to get! Greed, cruelty, and mercilessness abounds in America, especially under the leadership of Trump and his cronies.

I am no communist sympathiser. But so what if a tiny island such as Cuba chooses to live by communist principles? What possible difference could this make to the Goliath that is America today?

Instead of going to church next Sunday, I suggest that Americans look into their mirrors and ask themselves one simple question: Am I really living according to Christian principles? — © Mark Alexander

‘Extremely Low IQ and Cries Like a Child’: Donald Trump Renews Attack on Robert De Niro

THE GUARDIAN: After the star made a fresh denunciation of the US president at an alternative State of the Union event, Trump returned fire at length on Truth Social, calling De Niro ‘sick and demented’

Donald Trump has responded to a recent podcast appearance by Robert De Niro, in which he called the president “an idiot”.

Speaking on Monday’s episode of The Best People with Nicole Wallace, De Niro, who has long criticised the politics, morals and competence of Trump, said: “He’s an idiot. We gotta get rid of him. He’s gonna ruin the country.”

He added:“ I don’t want everybody going around with their Maga, the American flags, like they’re the only ones. We are Americans too.”

The actor then took headline billing at the State of the Swamp, a Washington event intended as a riposte to Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday. In his emotional speech, De Niro he described the president as “failing, flailing and desperate” and said he felt “betrayed by my country”.

Writing at length on Truth Social on Wednesday, the president first proposed deporting representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who left the Capitol building early on Tuesday after shouting him down during his speech. » | Catherine Shoard | Thursday, February 26, 2026

Ugandas Anti-Homosexualitätsgesetz: Zwei junge Frauen nach Kuss festgenommen – was ihnen jetzt droht

» | Peter Steiniger | Donnerstag, 26. Februar 2026

Cuba Says It Shot Dead Four People on US-registered Speedboat

BBC: Four people shot dead by Cuban border guards in a US-registered speedboat were Cuban nationals living in the United States, Cuba's government said.

In a statement posted online, Cuba's interior ministry said that the speedboat's passengers - the four who were killed and six others who were wounded, also Cuban citizens - opened fire on a coast guard vessel that approached them near an island off the country's northern coast on Wednesday.

The 10 individuals, some with previous criminal records, were armed and intended to "carry out an infiltration for terrorist purposes", the statement said. » | Bernd Debusmann Jr, White House reporter and Max Matza | Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Jersey Approves Assisted Dying Law

BBC: A law to allow terminally ill adults the right to choose to end their own lives has been approved in Jersey.

It marks the final legislative stage for the landmark proposals before they get Royal Assent in the UK - and once approved the first legal assisted deaths could happen as early as next summer.

Those eligible are people with terminal illnesses causing unbearable suffering where they are expected to die within six months, or 12 months for those with neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's and motor neurone disease (MND).

British Public Want Deeper Economic Ties with EU, Business Secretary Says

THE GUATDIAN: Peter Kyle signs cooperation deal on competition and says it is not a case of being nostalgic for pre-Brexit past

The British public are “not nostalgic” for the pre-Brexit past but are pragmatic and want to move forward and “deepen” ties with the EU on trade and the economy, the business secretary, Peter Kyle, has said.

Signing an agreement in Brussels to cooperate closely on competition issues, Kyle said he thought the deal was “a real vindication of the reset and the relationships that have emerged between the EU and the UK” since Labour came to power.

He said it marked an alignment on strategies on issues such as mergers and acquisitions, the result of frequent conversations the two sides were now having.

The European Commission executive vice-president Teresa Ribera said it was “a privilege” to sign the deal, which was “reinforcing the current good cooperation” with the UK. » | Lisa O’Carroll | Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Ergo, this country needs to rejoin the European Union at the very earliest convenience. However can this country hope to achieve economic growth, cut off from the biggest single market the world has ever known?

We Brits are Europeans, and we belong in the European Union. Anyone who argues differently is ignorant of the facts.

Germany’s Leader Delivers a Blunt Warning to China on Trade

THE NEW YORK TIMES: Chancellor Friedrich Merz laid out his complaints in a frank message to his hosts on a trip to Beijing that China had designed to showcase their relationship.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany arrived in China on Wednesday with an outstretched hand and a list of complaints for his hosts, asking for closer diplomatic ties but also relief from economic policies that he said were impeding “fair competition.”

Mr. Merz, who took pains before the trip to say he would not be “lecturing” Beijing, laid out his critiques in a speech at a meeting of the Advisory Council of German-Chinese Business, to an audience that included Premier Li Qiang, China’s second-highest ranking official.

The chancellor was more blunt and more specific in his criticism than other western leaders, including the prime ministers of Britain and Canada, who have recently trekked to Beijing to reset relations with China amid the turmoil caused by President Trump.

Mr. Merz called on China to reduce subsidies for its domestic manufacturers, to allow the value of its currency, the renminbi, to strengthen, and to ensure continued exports of raw materials, such as critical minerals — all of which would benefit German industry. Doing so, he said, would allow Germany and China to forge a tighter bond.

“In view of the uncertainties caused by customs policy that we see around the world,” Mr. Merz said, addressing Mr. Li directly, “we can now set a different example in our bilateral relations, through the reliability and security of the economic relations between our two countries.” » | David Pierson and Jim Tankersley | David Pierson reported from Hong Kong, and Jim Tankersley from Berlin. | Wednesday, February 25, 2026
