Israel's Dream of Ruling the Region Is Over, Its Decline Has Begun | Mustafa Barghouti | UNAPOLOGETIC

Jun 27, 2026 | "Now Netanyahu has failed. Iran was not broken. Arab countries now realise that relying on Israel is a death sentence."

In this episode of UNAPOLOGETIC, we sat down in studio with Mustafa Barghouti, Palestinian physician, leader of the Palestinian National Initiative and co-founder of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society. Barghouti argues that Israel's two strategic goals, imperial domination of the Middle East and normalisation with Arab states, have both collapsed, and that this marks the beginning of its decline.

Across the conversation he sets out the scale of the atrocity in Gaza, the slow strangulation of life in the West Bank, and the transformation of Israeli society towards what he describes as fascism. He explains why the regional war with Iran ended in strategic failure for Netanyahu, why Oslo and the 2005 Gaza disengagement were traps rather than concessions, and why he refuses to accept any framing that places oppressor and oppressed on equal footing.

Barghouti also turns to the question of survival and resistance, from the 90 midwives employed in the first weeks of the war to the clinics rebuilt multiple times under bombardment and makes the case that Palestine has become the global measure of commitment to justice. Despite everything, he ends on a note of defiance and hope.

UNAPOLOGETIC is hosted by Ashfaaq Carim.

Gadi Eisenkot weiß, was Krieg bedeutet.

Juni 2026

Michael Lambert: Israel's Hangman Pin Badge | Why UK Politicians Say Nothing

June 26, 2026 | A UN report published this week has accused Israel of deliberately targeting and killing Palestinian children. A separate UN report in October 2025 went further — accusing Israel of genocide. And yet, politicians in the UK — many of them members of Labour Friends of Israel — say nothing.

Meanwhile, Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has celebrated with cakes the re-introduction of hanging for Palestinians. He and his colleagues now wear gold "hangman's noose" lapel pin badges.

Killing and maiming children can never be justified, The silence of UK politicians is deafening, and why the hangman's noose has become a symbol of something truly dark.

Thank you, Mr Lambert, for having the courage to speak out on these issues. I absolutely and totally agree with your analysis of the atrocities being carried out by Israelis against the poor Palestinians. What is being perpetrated is nothing less than a genocide. And we Westerners are supposed to remain silent!

Like many others, I have always been pro-Israel because of how Jews were made to suffer in Nazi Germany and, of course, because of the Holocaust. But because of that suffering, Jews really ought to be more compassionate, merciful, and understanding. That Jews in Israel are bereft of mercy is truly an enigma to me.

I concur with your analysis absolutely. Again, thank you for your courage. — © Mark Alexander

Israel’s Extremists: The Radical Men Pushing the Region Toward Chaos | ENDEVR Documentary

June 7, 2026 | In the space of a year, Israeli democracy has faltered. From the judicial reforms that deeply divided the country in the first nine months of 2023, to the war against Hamas that followed the tragedy of the 7 October massacre,

Benyamin Netanyahu’s government, the most right-wing in the country’s history, has continued to deepen Israel’s internal divisions and led the country to face the worst existential threat in its history.

Two men embody the radical initiatives of this government, two leading ministers who occupy regalian functions: internal security and finance. Their names: Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich. Both are complete unknowns on the international scene, brought into the spotlight by the events of recent months. They are the heirs of two ideological currents that were once marginal: Kahanism and religious Zionism.

Today, they are throwing all their weight behind their ideological agenda: imposing Jewish supremacist legislation, in the case of the former, and re-founding biblical Israel, in the case of the latter.

Who are they? What do they want? What is their background?

This documentary investigates two men whose strategy is to sow chaos in order to advance their ultimate project: imposing Jewish law on “Greater Israel”, from the sea to the Jordan River, and thus definitively annexing the West Bank, Gaza and even beyond.

This documentary originally aired in 2024

US-Iran Ceasefire Under Strain as Fighting Flares in Lebanon | DW News

Jun 19, 2026 | Ongoing fighting in Lebanon could undermine a ceasefire between the US and Iran. Hours after US President Donald Trump warned all parties to respect a peace deal, Israel launched deadly attacks in southern Lebanon while four Israeli soldiers were killed in combat. Meanwhile talks between the US and Iran in Switzerland have been postponed. So are Israel and the militant group Hezbollah undermining the deal? Was it set up to fail?

US-Iran Agreement Leaves Israelis 'in Profound State of Shock' • FRANCE 24 English

Jun 18, 2026 | Israeli leaders are privately fuming about the US-Iran deal, seeing the initial agreement as a form of capitulation. This comes as a final blow to the increasingly fraying relationship between Netanyahu and Trump, previously thought thought to be iron-clad. FRANCE 24's Noga Tarnopolsky tells us more.

Vance Issues Blunt Warning to Israel as He Defends Trump’s Deal

THE NEW YORK TIMES: The vice president delivered a rebuke to Israeli critics of the agreement, warning them not to alienate their most important ally, as the administration sought to rebut mounting criticism of the deal.

Vice President JD Vance on Thursday delivered an extraordinarily direct rebuke to Israeli critics of the U.S.-Iran peace agreement, as he sought to defend the preliminary deal with repeated misrepresentations of some of its terms.

“Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time,” Mr. Vance said. He added, “If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.”

The agreement has faced mounting criticism from Israeli lawmakers, as well as some Republicans in Washington, who argue that it gives Iran economic relief while punting negotiations on its nuclear program down the road.

The 60-day clock for the United States and Iran to negotiate the future of Iran’s nuclear program and other issues has begun, Mr. Vance said.

Not long after, Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said in his first statement since the preliminary agreement was signed that Iran would not submit to “excessive demands,” according to Iranian state media.

“In-person negotiations that will take place in the future do not mean accepting the enemy’s view,” he said in the statement, which cast his country’s bargaining position as a strong one. Mr. Trump, he said, had struck a deal “out of desperation.”

Israel is not a party to the deal, and its fighting with Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia in Lebanon, had threatened to derail the U.S.-Iran talks, to the increasing frustration of American officials. Mr. Vance’s barbed remarks from the White House came a day after President Trump himself admonished Israel over its military campaign.

Mr. Vance also reminded Israeli critics of the deal that, according to him, two-thirds of the weapons “that have protected your homeland” were American-made and paid for by Americans’ tax dollars. Democracy Now! Trump's War on Iran Ends with a "Triumphant" Tehran

Jun 18, 2026 | The United States and Iran have officially signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war in Iran. The 14-point agreement includes an immediate end to fighting on all fronts including Lebanon, an end to the U.S. naval blockade on Iran and the full resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. It also proposes easing oil sanctions on Iran, unfreezing Iranian assets and launching a $300 billion investment fund to rebuild Iran, all while tabling the question of Iran’s nuclear program, which is instead set to be negotiated over in the coming months.

“The United States is more eager for this war to end than Iran is,” says Professor Vali Nasr, who teaches at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. “In Iran, they’re very triumphant.” We discuss the long-term effects of the war, from the growing U.S. distrust of Israel, to the new generation of political leaders in the Islamic Republic, to the evolution of Iran into a major power player in an increasingly multipolar world.

Democracy Now! Hasan Piker on Being Banned from UK, Travelling to Cuba & Supporting Candidates Critical of Israel

Jun 5, 2026 | The British government earlier this week barred left-wing political commentators Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur from entering the UK ahead of several speaking events. The Home Office said it was cancelling their travel permits because "their presence in the U.K. may not be conducive to the public good."

Piker and Uygur, who are related, are both outspoken in their criticism of Israel. While the government did not cite a specific reason for the ban, some lawmakers and pro-Israel groups had accused the two of promoting antisemitism, which they reject.

"I find what the British government did here to be objectionable. I find it to be disgusting. I also find it to be terrifying," Piker tells Democracy Now!_"I think it's a sign that we're … headed down a very different — dare I say, fascist — direction in the Western world."

World Blames Trump as Iran ‘Made a Superpower’ with Strait of Hormuz Control

Jun 10, 2026 | “Looking at the price at the pump, not only in America but globally, all of them are blaming the US.”

The US needs to de-escalate the war at this point in order to keep the ceasefire alive and bring down the price of oil, says retired lieutenant general Russel L. Honoré.

Democracy Now! Iran Warns Israel over Attacks on Lebanon after Iran, Israel Exchange Strikes: Trita Parsi

Jun 8, 2026 | Iran and Israel exchanged fire overnight in the most serious escalation since a U.S.-Iranian truce was reached in April. Iran launched a wave of missiles at northern Israel in retaliation for Israeli attacks near Beirut on Sunday. Israel responded with attacks on Iran, with explosions reported in Tehran, Tabriz and Isfahan. This comes as peace talks appear stalled between the United States and Iran, largely over Iran's insistence that any agreement must include Lebanon and halt Israel's attacks on that country. President Donald Trump has also repeatedly expressed frustration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and reports from NBC News and The New York Times indicate the Pentagon is growing increasingly concerned over Israel spying on U.S. officials.

"I was not surprised by the Iranian attack on Israel," says analyst Trita Parsi, who notes that Iran's leaders want to "extend their deterrence" to Lebanon. "What is perhaps a bit surprising is … that the Israelis defied Trump's expressed wishes."
