THE NEW YORK TIMES: Some 80 percent of white, evangelical Christians voted for President Trump. Now, some want a policy change that could undermine a future Palestinian state.
Evangelical Christian leaders who delivered votes to President Trump are now pressing him to declare that Israel can claim ownership of the West Bank, based on a promise God made to the Jews in the Bible.
They are seeking a way to pave a path toward annexation of territory that is widely viewed internationally as intended for a future Palestinian state. Israel seized the territory as part of a war between it, Jordan, Egypt and Syria in 1967 and has occupied it since. In recent years, the right-wing government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been encouraging Jewish settlers to build homes there at an increasing rate.
Prominent evangelical supporters of Mr. Trump are mounting a multipronged approach to pressure the president — making appearances in Israel, petitioning the White House, pushing their ideas at a key evangelical conference and building congressional backing.
Some of America’s leading evangelicals, including Ralph Reed, Tony Perkins and Mario Bramnick, visited Jerusalem on Tuesday to publicly back Israel’s sovereignty of the West Bank. » | Ephrat Livni | Reporting from Washington | Saturday, March 8, 2025

Humza Yousaf Slams Gaza 'Ethnic Cleansing' by Israel & UK Government 'Complicity' | Full Interview
Feb 12, 2025 | Former First Minister of Scotland, Humza Yousaf, joins Global News Today with Tom Burges Watson for an exclusive interview to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and the recent threats made by US President Donald Trump and supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of the rest of the hostages by Saturday, otherwise "all hell will break out." President Trump had also wanted to turn Gaza into a "Riviera of the Middle East" and says that all Palestinians should move to neighboring countries.
Yousaf slams these ideas put forward by the US president and says its simply "ethnic cleansing," stating many countries are being cowardly in not labeling Israel's treatment of Palestinians in Gaza as such.
Yousaf also attacks Keir Starmer and the UK government for being "complicit" in Israel's "ethnic cleansing," suggesting that the language they use to describe Israel's actions is limited and the fact they continue to send weapons to Israel which are used against the Palestinians.

Trump Says He May Cut Aid to Jordan and Egypt if They Don’t Take Gazans
THE NEW YORK TIMES: The president turned up the pressure on the two nations to agree to his proposal for them to house the Palestinian population of Gaza and said the Palestinians would not have the right to return to the territory.
President Trump said on Monday that he could cut aid to Jordan and Egypt if they refused his demand to permanently take in most Palestinians from Gaza, substantially increasing the pressure on key allies in the region to back his audacious proposal to relocate the entire population of the territory in order to redevelop it.
The president also said from the White House that if Hamas did not release all the remaining Israeli hostages by “12 o’clock on Saturday,” the cease-fire agreement with Israel should be canceled.
“All hell is going to break out,” Mr. Trump said to reporters in the Oval Office, while acknowledging that the choice over ending the cease-fire ultimately fell to Israel.
Jordan and Egypt, both major recipients of U.S. military and economic aid, have rejected any suggestion that Palestinians be relocated to their countries. But Mr. Trump said on Monday that the assistance could be in jeopardy. » | Zolan Kanno-Youngs and Shawn McCreesh | Reporting from Washington | Monday, February 10, 2025

Riyadh Slams Israel's Netanyahu for "Palestine in Saudi Arabia" Remark | Firstpost Spotlight
Feb 10, 2025 | Riyadh Slams Israel's Netanyahu For "Palestine In Saudi Arabia" Remark | Firstpost Spotlight | N18G
Riyadh condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's suggestion that Saudi Arabia's land can be used to establish a Palestinian state. In a statement on February 9, the Saudi Foreign Ministry called the suggestions to displace Palestinians from their land an "extremist" idea. Saudi Arabi also affirmed that the "Palestinian people have a right to their land, and they are not intruders or immigrants" who could be expelled as per the wishes of Israeli leadership. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump doubled down on his earlier proposal that Washington D.C. will "take over" and "own" Gaza by resettling people of Palestine elsewhere.

Netanyahu Hits Out at Macron over Call for Halt to Arms Exports to Israel
THE GUARDIAN: Israeli prime minister turns on French counterpart’s continuing efforts towards a ceasefire and end to violence in Lebanon
A call by Emmanuel Macron for a halt in arms supplies to Israel for use in Gaza has been met with an angry rebuttal from the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The French president’s comments were directed mainly at the US and were part of continuing French efforts to revive its call for a ceasefire in Lebanon.
France provides few arms to Israel but is keen to strengthen its longstanding influence in Lebanon by showing it wants the US to put some genuine pressure on Israel to accept a ceasefire. Washington appeared to mount little diplomatic resistance when Israel – after sending mixed signals – rejected a US-French plan for a 21 day ceasefire in Lebanon announced at the UN in New York nearly a fortnight ago.
In an interview recorded on Monday, but broadcast on Saturday, Macron told France Inter radio: “I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop supplying weapons to lead the fighting in Gaza.” » | Patrick Wintour, Diplomatic editor | Sunday, October 6, 2024
To my great surprise, Emmanuel Macron is on the wrong side of history on this! Macron is ignoring what Hamas did to Israel and Israelis on October 7th, 2023, and he is ignoring the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu with our help will be able to rid the world of the scourges of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hamas. The Palestinian question will never be solved with these two rogue powers undermining peace in the region. We all want the very best for Palestinians. These poor people have suffered enough. But we cannot help Palestinians attain peace and prosperity if Iran and Hamas are big players in the region. They will sour it all. And let us not forget the heinous crimes that Hamas committed against the Israelis in 2023. – © Mark Alexander

Israel Tells US It Plans to Launch Limited Ground Incursion into Lebanon - US Official | BBC News
Sep 30, 2024 | Israel has told the US it plans to launch a limited ground incursion into Lebanon as soon as Monday, a US official has said.

Iran Vows Vengeance after Assassination of Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah
THE OBSERVER: Iran’s supreme leader says Israel’s killing of Nasrallah will “not go unavenged”, as fears grow of spiralling conflict
Iran’s supreme leader has warned Israel that its assassination of Hezbollah’s veteran leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, will “not go unavenged”, as fears of a spiralling conflict in the Middle East grow.
As the shockwaves from Friday evening’s airstrike that killed Nasrallah reverberated through the region, and Israel continued to pound targets in Lebanon, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced five days of official mourning on Saturday and called for an urgent meeting of the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Iran also called for the UN security council to meet over Israel’s actions in Lebanon and across the region.
Israel’s security forces were also put on high alert for possible retaliation, as experts warned the region was facing several scenarios following the killing, including the risk of a widening war that could draw Iran, Hezbollah’s main backer, into a direct conflict with Israel. » | Peter Beaumont in Jerusalem and William Christou in Beirut | Saturday, September 28, 2024
