Muslims and Buddhists Clash in Northern Myanmar

REUTERS.COM: (Reuters) - Muslims and Buddhists clashed in Myanmar's northern city of Lashio on Tuesday, witnesses said, as a wave of sectarian violence reached a mountainous region near China's border.

Phone lines were down in the city of about 131,000 people and the extent of the violence was unclear. Witnesses reported several large fires and said a mosque and Buddhist monastery appear to have been torched.

The violence followed unrest between Muslims and Buddhists in other parts of Myanmar over the past year, including fighting in the central city of Meikhtila in March that killed at least 44 people, mostly Muslims, and razed several Muslim neighborhoods. About 12,000 people lost their homes.

Lashio, capital of Shan State, had been spared from the religious unrest. Known for its strong Chinese influence, it is about 190 km (120 miles) from Muse, a city on China's border. » | Reporting by Aung Hla Tun and Jared Ferrie; Writing by Jason Szep; Editing by Pravin Char | Yangon | Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Israel Warns Russia Against Arming Syrian Government

THE GUARDIAN: Israel's defence minister signals that its military is prepared to strike shipments of advanced Russian weapons to Syria

Russia has said it will supply one of its most advanced anti-aircraft missile systems to the Syrian government, hours after the EU ended its arms embargo on the rebels, raising the prospect of a rapidly escalating proxy war in the region if peace talks in Geneva fail next month.

Israel quickly issued a thinly veiled warning that it would bomb the Russian S-300 missiles if they were sent to Syria, as such a move would bring the advanced guided missiles within range of civilian and military planes over Israel. Israel has conducted three sets of air strikes on Syria this year, aimed at preventing missiles being brought close to its border by the Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah.

"The shipments haven't set out yet and I hope they won't," Moshe Ya'alon, the Israeli defence minister, said. "If they do arrive in Syria, God forbid, we'll know what to do." » | Julian Borger in Ankara | Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Mumbai Bans Lingerie-clad Mannequins to Save Men from 'Impure Thoughts'

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Mumbai, home of India's increasingly raunchy Bollywood film industry, is to ban mannequins modeling lingerie from its shop windows to stop the city's men having "impure thoughts".

Representatives on the city's local authority have voted to ban the models in a move they believe may reduce the number of rapes and sexual assaults.

Local councillors, known as corporators, said mannequins dressed in lacey underwear, stockings and suspenders, had led to a "pollution of minds" among men in the city, which has India's second highest number of rapes after Delhi.

Opponents said the mannequins were not as suggestive as erotic sculptures and carvings at celebrated temples like Khajuraho, which feature scenes of group sex and bestiality. » | Dean Nelson in New Delhi | Tuesday, May 28, 2013

The Grand Deception

Cal Thomas Commentary: Radical Islam Aims to Take Over America

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH: Following the hacking death of a British soldier by two alleged Islamic extremists, Prime Minister David Cameron said, “There is nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act."

Winston Churchill thought otherwise, but he lived in a time before political correctness ran amok, and he drew on his personal experiences serving in the Sudan and in the Crimean War.

In his 1899 book The River War, Churchill described what he witnessed in countries where Islam ruled: “ Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.”

Churchill said only Christianity had sheltered Europe and were it not for that faith, “the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

Given the secular condition of modern Europe and the huge influx of radical Muslims, many of whom carry with them earthly agendas, which prime minister is more credible?

One of the men arrested in London spoke of his motivation: “The only reason we have killed this man today is because Muslims are dying daily by British soldiers.”

What Westerners struggle to figure out is how to distinguish Islamists from moderate Muslims and how to recognize the true Islamist when they are taught to deceive us about their radical beliefs.

A documentary released last fall, but largely ignored, might be a useful guide. It’s called Jihad in America: The Grand Deception. The film by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, (www.granddeception.com), exposes the tangled web of Islamic front groups in America that are backed by the radical Muslim Brotherhood.

The documentary reveals how these groups have penetrated the highest levels of American government and culture. Zuhdi Jasser, who heads the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, says, “ Their dream is the creation of an Islamic state. … Their strategy in America is to use America’s freedom and liberties in order to achieve that dream.” The same might be said of Britain. » | Cal Thomas * | Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Jailed Islamic Extremists 'Stabbed and Battered Warder Hostage after Prison Imam asked Them to Pray for Murdered Soldier Lee Rigby'

MAIL ONLINE: Terrified warder was 'locked in a cleaning room and beaten senseless' / Captive told he was 'going to die and have toilet cleaner poured in his eyes' / Freed by prison's riot squad and taken to hospital with serious injuries / Attack raises concerns about spread of radical Islam in Britain's prisons / Investigation has been taken over by North East Counter Terrorism Unit

Three jailed Islamic extremists stabbed a warder and beat him for four hours after the prison imam called on them to pray for murdered soldier Lee Rigby, it was reported last night.

The trio snatched the warder from E-wing at Full Sutton prison, near York, and held him hostage before stabbing him during a stand-off with guards.

The terrified victim, who is in his 30s, was locked in a cleaning room where he was also apparently beaten with mop handles and told he was going to die.

The prison's National Tactical Response Group were called and eventually managed to free him and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A prison source told the Daily Mirror: 'The fear was that the gang had somehow got hold of knives from the prison kitchen and they would attempt to behead him.

'By the time the attack finished the officer was covered in bruises and blood. He feels very lucky to be alive. He was told they would kill him.' » | Daniel Miller | Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Expert: Islam Taking Over, Europe Soon to Be Unrecognizable

YNET NEWS: According to Dr. Mordechai Kedar, European softening, together with demographics, is leading to 'abysmal' change. Dr. Avika Libman: Riots start with preachers demanding Muslim state

The murder of a soldier in London, the stabbing of a soldier in Paris and the violent outbreak in Sweden – Europe's alarm clock has been ringing once again over the past week. The negative birthrate compared to the increase in Muslims, the heavy unemployment and the social-religious isolation of European immigrants are all back on the agenda.

"Europe has lost its will to live as Europe," said Mideast expert Dr. Mordechai Kedar to Ynet. "It is gathered into museums, into history. If the leaders will not put an end to immigration, we will soon be hearing the death throes of the continent as we know it."

Even if it is somewhat demagogic to attempt to bind the three events from the past few days in different European sites under "Islamic extremism," and even if the rage sparks in the weaker classes of immigrants, it is hard to ignore the basic facts. Behind these events are African immigrants from Islamic countries.

Dr. Zvika Libman studies the effects of the Muslim minority in Europe in light of the radical Islam on European countries. When he sees the reality, he said, there is no alternative interpretation for the events. "There is no doubt that the unemployment and the economic hardships lead to rioting, as happened in France. And yes, there is a disadvantage compared to the European bourgeois, but this is not solely bitterness due to the economic situation – because there is unemployment among youngsters who are not Muslim, like in Spain for example.

The Muslims have a fertile ground of mosques that awaken them, preach to them that they are deprived, that they don't belong, that they're not wanted and that the only solution is a country with an Arab majority. This is the starting point for these riots."

According to Dr. Libman, Sweden is an example of the situation in Europe. Penniless immigrants coming from weakened and colonized countries, get housing, education and solid foundations from European welfare countries, and still express their anger at the establishment. » | Roi Mandel | Tuesday, May 28, 2013

» | Inga Rogg, Istanbul | Montag, 27. Mai 2013

EDL Protesters Blame Islam for Woolwich Attack

THE GUARDIAN: More than 500 far-right supporters gather outside Downing Street as anti-fascist groups hold counter-demonstration nearby

For a movement that was on the verge of implosion less than a month ago, the English Defence League has staged a major show of force in central London, signalling that the death of Drummer Lee Rigby has breathed new life into the far-right protest group.

More than 500 supporters – including football hooligans, veteran fascists and others – assembled under tight police security at the entrance to Downing Street, where they listened to their leaders blame Islam for the killing in Woolwich last week.

A counter-demonstration of several hundred people, organised by anti-fascist groups, was kept apart from the EDL protest, which chanted "scum, scum, scum" as their leader, Tommy Robinson, railed against the left and Muslims. Flags of St George fluttered and placards with messages such as "wool which 2013: no turning back" were held aloft.

Amongst those at the EDL gathering was Ben Roberts, a former soldier waving a flag of St George and wearing service medals from Iraq and Afganistan.

"I am here to show that we stand together against the killers of Lee Rigby. It seems that there is one law today for Muslims and one for everyone else," he said, adding that other ex-service personnel were also present. "I've had it with parties like Labour and the Conservatives," said Roberts, who identified himself as a Ukip voter.

While many protesters were young men with close-cropped hair wearing casual sports gear or England shirts, there were a small number of women and children and a handful of Sikhs, whose presence at other EDL gatherings has been condemned by leaders of their community. » | Ben Quinn | Monday, May 27, 2013

UK Archbishop Lauds British Muslims' Response to Terrorism

PRESS TV: The archbishop of Canterbury has lauded British Muslim bodies for their response to the recent murder of a soldier in a London street by two assailants.

Justin Welby referred to various religious communities in the UK, saying that they are in a good position of co-operation and mutual support.

"We have all been appalled by the brutal murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich," he said during a joint appearance in Leicester with Sheikh Ibrahim Mogra, the assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain.

The archbishop praised the way in which religious groups had reacted to the incident.

"I want to recognise the response of churches, mosques and other faith and civil society groups, as well as those of brave individuals who have done so much to bring our communities together at this time," he said.

"The strong response of the Muslim Council of Britain and many other organisations has rightly emphasised that these acts have no place in Islam." » | MOL/HE | Monday, May 27, 2013

Young Woman Spat At as Charity Reports Rising Anti-Muslim Incidents after Woolwich Murder

WALES ONLINE: A charity says it is looking at claims from a woman she was spat at in the Cardiff area as young Muslims speak of their fears of a backlash after the death of soldier Lee Rigby.

Young Muslims in Wales say they fear a backlash after the barbaric killing of Drummer Lee Rigby in London.

Charity Faith Matters said it is looking at claims a young woman was spat at in an incident in the Cardiff area and said it was dealing with a significant rise in the number of anti-Muslim incidents in Britain as a result of the attack in Woolwich.

Meanwhile, hateful messages have been posted on social media websites. The Welsh Defence League’s Facebook page boasted a picture of the aftermath of the shocking murder with the message: “Still believe Islam is the religion of peace? How many more have to die to disprove the lie?”

It comes after bacon was left outside a Cardiff mosque the day after Drummer Rigby was hacked to death.

Other incidents across the UK have seen a mosque in Kent attacked, while in Essex a man walked into a temple brandishing a knife and a burning bottle was hurled at an Islamic centre in Bletchley.

Young Muslims in Wales have now told how they fear a rising tide of hostility will engulf them following 25-year-old Drumer [sic] Rigby’s murder. » | Darren Devine, James McCarthy | Sunday, May 26, 2013

Obama Officials Are 'Criminalising Journalism', Says Republican Senator

THE INDEPENDENT: Administration’s efforts to trace leaks called ‘heavy-handed’ after private emails seized

The Obama administration has been accused of criminalising the press, as US lawmakers called for an independent investigator to look into the way the Justice Department conducts cases involving reporters.

President Barack Obama is facing widespread criticism for the aggressive way in which his government investigates leaks, after it emerged that officials had secretly seized phone records from the Associated Press and monitored personal emails of the Fox News reporter James Rosen.

Mr Obama last week directed his Attorney General, Eric Holder, to review the Justice Department’s procedures. Mr Holder is due to report back in July – but his position as the head of the department at the centre of the controversy has led lawmakers to question whether he is the right person to lead the review.

“This would be a good time for a special counsel or independent counsel… This is clearly an overreach,” the Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told Fox News. Referring to a case in which the Justice Department obtained the Fox reporter’s private emails, he added: “We’re beginning to criminalise journalism, and I think that should worry us all.” » | Nikhil Kumar | New York | Sunday, May 26, 2013

Terror in Woolwich: Home Secretary Theresa May Threatens Online Crackdown for Extremists Who Don’t Advocate Violence

THE INDEPENDENT: Coalition clashes over Home Secretary's plans to revive controversial ‘snooper’s charter’

Radical Islamist groups which whip up hatred but do not advocate violence could be outlawed in the UK for the first time, under an attempt to curb the spread of hardline ideology being considered by the Government following the Woolwich murder.

Theresa May, the Home Secretary, warned that there were thousands of people judged to be at risk of being radicalised as she set out moves to deprive hardliners of platforms for their views. They include plans to ban more organisations accused of fomenting division and to tighten the rules on their access to the internet, as well as the revival of plans for a "snooper's charter".

But the moves threaten to provoke a freedom-of-speech row as organisations which stop short of advocating terrorism could be banned under the proposals, which will be considered by a Whitehall task force headed by David Cameron.

At the moment, the Home Secretary has the legal power to proscribe an organisation linked to terrorism, such as al-Muhajiroun, which was outlawed in Britain in 2010.

But she has no authority to act against organisations suspected of "inciting hatred and division" and ministers will consider introducing a lower threshold enabling her to act, Whitehall sources said. » | Nigel Morris | Monday, May 27, 2013

Grimsby Mosque Hit by Suspected Arson Attack

Woolwich Attack: Calls for Anjem Choudary to Be Placed under a New Terror Control Order

THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Calls were growing last night for Anjem Choudary, the radical Islamist accused of brainwashing one of the Woolwich murder suspects, to be placed under a new terror control order.

It is estimated that one in five terrorists convicted in Britain over the past decade were either members of or linked to al-Muhajiroun, the extremist group founded by Choudary and the exiled preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed.

Choudary, 46, and a lawyer by training, has never been convicted of any offence, much to the frustration of British authorities.

But the revelation last week that al-Muhajiroun had played a large part in radicalising Michael Adebolajo, 28, who is accused of murdering a soldier outside Woolwich Barracks, has renewed pressure on the Home Office to find a way of dealing with Choudary. » | Robert Mendick, and Robert Watts | Sunday, May 26, 2013

Poll Reveals Rising Fears of Clashes in Wake of Woolwich Killing

THE GUARDIAN: YouGov poll shows rise in proportion of people who believe British Muslims pose a threat to democracy

Nearly two-thirds of people believe there will be a 'clash of civilisations' between British Muslims and white Britons in the wake of the murder of a British soldier in Woolwich, a new poll shows.

The number of those who believe such a clash is inevitable has increased by 9% from last year.

There has also been a small increase in the proportion of people who believe British Muslims pose a serious threat to democracy, up to 34% on Thursday and Friday from 30% in November 2012, according to the YouGov survey of 1,839 adults.

The poll will fuel concern of an explosion of race hate, with one interfaith charity reporting a huge increase in anti-Muslim incidents since the murder of soldier Lee Rigby in south-east London on Wednesday.

Faith Matters, which runs a helpline, said they had received 162 calls since the attack, up from a daily average of six.

A number of people have also been charged by police after allegedly offensive messages were posted on social media websites. These include a 22-year-old man from Lincoln, a 28-year-old man from London, a 23-year-old woman from Southsea, and a 19-year-old man from Woking.

Turkey to Restrict Sale and Advertising of Alcohol

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Turkey is to restrict the sale and advertising of alcohol, prompting outcry from citizens concerned about the creeping Islamisation of the country.

Members of Turkey's Islamist-leaning government, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have approved legislation, which is awaiting presidential approval, which will see the sale of alcohol in shops prohibited from 10pm to 6am.

Although similar restrictions are in place in some European countries, including Britain, the legislation also bans the advertising of alcohol. Broadcasters will even need to blur out bottles and glasses of alcohol consumed by TV characters.

Nonsense Aplenty from Clegg: Woolwich Attack: Nick Clegg Says Murder of Drummer Lee Rigby 'Flies in the Face of the Peace and Love that Islam Teaches'

This Beheading Should Be a Seminal Moment in Our Tolerance of Islam

The gruesome beheading of one of our soldiers in a London street should be the final wake-up call for those who have been too slow to awaken from their slumbers. It should be plain for everyone to see by now that we are dealing with a force of darkness.

In my book, The Dawning of a New Dark Age, I warned in strong words that something would have to be done to keep Westerners safe from the danger that is Islam. Many might have thought that my words were alarmist. Today’s beheading in Woolwich, London proves them wrong. I have been vindicated.

It is difficult for Westerners who have to toil long and hard to put food on the table for their family to comprehend that there is a ‘culture’ out there which is hell bent on destroying the West, destroying all we stand for. But this happens to be the case. Alas, not all people in this world share our benign values.

I realise full well that the West has a history of its own which showed we could commit heinous crimes in the name of religion. But that was centuries ago. That was then; this is now. We have grown up; they have not. We have become enlightened; they still live in darkness. They are benighted.

Our politicians and leaders of all kinds have been unwilling, reluctant in the extreme, to come to terms with the fact that in Islam we are dealing with such a force of darkness: extreme darkness, in fact.

Islam is a religion which is aggressive and conquering. It brainwashes its adherents. It believes that all the world belongs to Allah and his final messenger; and that it is theirs for the taking. These people will never understand the concept of ‘living and letting live.’ They will never co-exist with Westerners. It is their stated aim to take over the West. It is their stated aim to make the whole world submit to Allah, who they believe to be the one true god.

Muslims divide the world into two: The ‘House of Islam’ (Dar ul Islam) and the ‘House of War’ (Dar ul Harb). We inhabit the ‘House of War.’ Therefore, we have to be conquered and brought into the ‘House of Islam.’ To them, until this happens, until we are conquered, they will be in a constant state of war with us. This tragic beheading today is but one dreadful manifestation of their way of thinking.

Our leaders, our politicians, our establishment will have you believe that there is a difference between Islam and ‘Islamism.’ They mislead you. ‘Islamism’ is a term made up by Westerners for Westerners, in order to lull them into a false sense of security, and to let our weak politicians off the hook. An ‘Islamist’ is a person who is intent on living according to the strict guidelines of Islam. He/she is a devout follower of their prophet. When Westerners refer to ‘moderate Muslims,' they refer to nominal Muslims, or people who are Muslims only in name, Muslims who do not take their religion very seriously. They are not devout. And in the eyes of devout Muslims, these 'moderate Muslims' have fallen by the wayside.

We are going to have to come to terms with this if we are ever to get a handle on the huge problem that we face with Islam. The sad fact is that because our leaders are so reluctant to come to terms with reality, innocent people are being placed in great danger in their own countries. This poor soldier today is a very sad case in point.

The MSM will not help you, because they are more concerned with being politically correct than they are with keeping you and me in safety. This is the sad reality of the Western world that we live in today.

It is high time that we had a reality check in the West. We need to stiffen our resolve to combat this threat to our safety, we need to stiffen our resolve to keep the West western. We have our values too; and barbarism is not one of them. We are better than that. We are civilised. Let us keep it that way. This is what I say: Whatever needs to be done to rid the West of this cancer, it has to be done. Time is not on our side. We have already been infiltrated. So what are we going to do about it?

Since when have you become an expert on Islam? Have you read anything about Islam other than what the MSM have said or written? Have you read any of the Koran, or the Hadiths? Have you lived in an Islamic country and mixed with Muslims at the grassroots level? No, I thought not.
