Der Anführer der vom Iran unterstützten Hisbollah, Naim Qassem, hat die Hamas am Samstag vor dem von den USA vorgeschlagenen Waffenstillstand für Gaza gewarnt. Er warf Israel vor, den Plan von US-Präsident Donald Trump zu nutzen, um Ziele zu erreichen, die es im Krieg zuvor „nicht erlangt“ habe. „Tatsächlich ist dieser Plan ein Plan voller Gefahren“, sagte Qassem in einer Rede anlässlich des Gedenkens an zwei Hisbollah-Kommandeure, die von Israel vor etwa einem Jahr getötet wurden, wie die Times of Israel berichtet.

Als Reaktion auf Überlegungen der US-Regierung, der Ukraine Tomahawk-Marschflugkörper zu liefern, hat Russlands Präsident Wladimir Putin vor einer neuen Eskalationsstufe im Ukrainekrieg gewarnt. Nach Angaben der staatlichen russischen Nachrichtenagentur Tass sagte der Kremlchef kürzlich, eine solche Lieferung würde „die Beziehungen zwischen den USA und Russland zerstören oder zumindest die kürzlich entstandene positive Entwicklung aufhalten“. Weiter sprach er demnach von einer möglichen „qualitativ neuen Stufe der Eskalation“.

Can Conversion Therapy Be Banned? Colorado Faces Speech Test at the Supreme Court.
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Colorado and more than 20 other states restrict therapists from trying to change the gender identity or sexual orientation of clients under age 18.
When Kaley Chiles welcomes therapy clients to her tranquil bungalow of an office, she offers loose-leaf tea and asks what brings them to counseling, what’s causing distress and how she can help them meet their goals.
Under a 2019 Colorado law, if clients under 18 tell her that their same-sex attractions are causing them stress, as a licensed therapist, she is forbidden from counseling them to change their sexual orientation. If they want to talk about their gender identity, she cannot advise them to change it.
Colorado lawmakers and major medical groups say that kind of counseling is ineffective and potentially harmful for minors, and it is therefore appropriate for state governments to outlaw it for licensed mental health professionals.
Mrs. Chiles, an evangelical Christian with a master’s degree in clinical mental health from Denver Seminary, says the law violates her First Amendment rights, constraining what she is allowed to say in therapy sessions with young people who have sought out her care. » | Ann E. Der 31-jährige Finn Smith ist gelernter Bäcker, sein Bruder, der 29- jährige Steff, überrascht mit einem Superfood-Brunch: Lauchfritters mit "Laver Bread".
Bei den Brüdern Finn und Steff Smith, sowie Jack Cunliffe dreht sich alles ums Essen: Die Bergregion Snowdonia im Nordwesten von Wales ist für den Anbau von Lauch bekannt - und das inspiriert auch viele hier typische Gerichte.
Vor allem im Winter gibt der Lauch den Walisern Kraft und Energie. Der 31-jährige Finn Smith ist gelernter Bäcker und versorgt die Familie mit Sauerteigbrot, aus dem er ein “Welsh Rarebit” mit viel Lauch herstellt. Sein Bruder, der 29-jährige Steff überrascht die Familie mit einem Superfood-Brunch. Zu seinen Lauchfritters kommt “Laver Bread”, eine Paste aus Seegras, die er mit pochiertem Ei garniert. Sein vierjähriger Sohn Bran hilft ihm beim Kochen.
Auch Tante Tamsin Smith kocht mit Lauch. Da das Stangengemüse in der Region kaum noch kommerziell angebaut wird, experimentiert sie damit in ihrem Garten. Die heimischen Lauchsorten sind robust und winterfest. Der viele Regen in der Region bietet ideale Anbaubedingungen. So schaffte Lauch es sogar zum Nationalsymbol der Waliser.
Tamsins herzhafte Lauchküchlein bäckt sie mit Caerphilly-Käse - eine Variation der für die Region typischen “Welsh Cakes”.

UK Jewish Groups Condemn Israeli Minister’s Invite to Tommy Robinson
THE GUARDIAN: Far-right activist described as ‘thug who represents worst of Britain’ after invitation to Israel sparks outrage
Plans by an Israeli minister to host the British far-right activist Tommy Robinson have been condemned by Jewish bodies in the UK and others.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews and the Jewish Leadership Council described Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, as “a thug” who represented the “very worst of Britain”.
Both organisations spoke out after the Israeli diaspora minister, Amichai Chikli, said on Friday that Robinson would visit Israel this month after the terror attack on a Manchester synagogue. In a post on X, Chikli described Robinson as “a courageous leader on the front line against radical Islam”.
Robinson said he had accepted an invitation by the Israeli government to cover the cost of his flight and hotel stay for a few days, adding that he intended to travel after an appearance in court on 13 October.
He said he would visit the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, to meet government leaders andvisit “Judea and Samaria”, a term typically used by rightwing Israeli politicians for the West Bank.
However, the Board of Deputies and the Jewish Leadership Council said of Robinson: “His presence undermines those genuinely working to tackle Islamist extremism and foster community cohesion.”

Tories to Pledge to Create Immigration Taskforce Modelled on Trump’s Ice
THE GUARDIAN: Proposed ‘removals force’ will be tasked with deporting 150,000 people a year in bid to tackle illegal immigration
The Conservatives will pledge to create a new immigration taskforce modelled on Donald Trump’s controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) agency, the Guardian understands.
The party’s leader, Kemi Badenoch, is expected to announce the policy on Sunday as the Conservatives heads into their annual conference after a year of historic low poll ratings. The proposed “removals force” will be tasked with deporting 150,000 people a year in a move to tackle illegal immigration.
Badenoch will say that the taskforce would be given £1.6bn and “sweeping new powers” if the Conservatives win the next election. This would include the ability to use facial recognition technology without warning to help identify those eligible for removal from the UK.
Under the plans, the taskforce would be expected to “work closely” with the police. Officers would be required to conduct immigration checks on everyone they stop or arrest, Badenoch is expected to add.
Badenoch will say that the Ice model has proved to be a “successful approach” in removing migrants who have illegally entered the US. Ice removed nearly 200,000 people in the first seven months of Trump’s second presidency, US media reported. My regular visitors will surely remember that I stated years ago that the Conservatives were going the way of the dodo. Or, put another way, the Tories would suffer the fate of the Whigs before them. My words have come true. The Conservative Party is a spent force.
Moreover, if the party continues to select duds as leaders, their fate will remain so: the party will have zero chance of having any life breathed back into it. Kemi Badenoch is another such dud. This woman has no chance of leading the party back to vistory. Every policy idea this woman has come up with is stale and, quite frankly, ridiculous. Her three main policies are as follows: that this country should leave the ECHR; that the country needs more Thatcherism; and now, that her government would emulate the tactics of Trump’s Gestapo, known in the States as ICE.
This woman is WRONG on ALL THREE POLICIES! Further, her STALE THINKING would RUIN this country and its international reputation.
Brexit has dug this country into a hole. And the first rule of what to do when you find yourself in a HOLE is to STOP DIGGING! This woman just wants to keep on digging!
The ECHR—the European Convention on Human Rights—has got nothing to do with the European Union. Though I wouldn’t mind betting that Badenoch thinks it does, simply because its title has the word ‘European’ in it! It would be ludicrous for the country to exit the ECHR. It is this which guarantees OUR rights as British subjects of the King! To think that trusting any British government to write a document guaranteeing our rights if we left would be like trusting a pet snake not to bite you!
More Thatcherism is the last thing this country needs! We already have enough wealth inequality from the last dose we had of Thatcherism. And in any case, Thatcher herself sold off all the family silver. As a result, the nation is on its uppers; so there is no more family silver left to sell off!
And as for her latest suggestion of emulating Trump’s Gestapo, well… Whoever would have thought that any Briton could be so atupid or so cruel? Furthermore, does this European nation ALWAYS have to follow what American presidents do, even when their policies are the height of cruelty and even when the president himself is suffering from galloping dementia?
If Conservatives know what is good for them—and please remember that I write as a one-time, lifelong, ardent Conservative—they will ditch this leader. Being led by such thinking will give the party no chance even of a comeback, still less a victory at the polls! — © Mark Alexander

Badenoch will say that the taskforce would be given £1.6bn and “sweeping new powers” if the Conservatives win the next election. This would include the ability to use facial recognition technology without warning to help identify those eligible for removal from the UK.
Under the plans, the taskforce would be expected to “work closely” with the police. Officers would be required to conduct immigration checks on everyone they stop or arrest, Badenoch is expected to add.
Badenoch will say that the Ice model has proved to be a “successful approach” in removing migrants who have illegally entered the US. Ice removed nearly 200,000 people in the first seven months of Trump’s second presidency, US media reported. My regular visitors will surely remember that I stated years ago that the Conservatives were going the way of the dodo. Or, put another way, the Tories would suffer the fate of the Whigs before them. My words have come true. The Conservative Party is a spent force.
Moreover, if the party continues to select duds as leaders, their fate will remain so: the party will have zero chance of having any life breathed back into it. Kemi Badenoch is another such dud. This woman has no chance of leading the party back to vistory. Every policy idea this woman has come up with is stale and, quite frankly, ridiculous. Her three main policies are as follows: that this country should leave the ECHR; that the country needs more Thatcherism; and now, that her government would emulate the tactics of Trump’s Gestapo, known in the States as ICE.
This woman is WRONG on ALL THREE POLICIES! Further, her STALE THINKING would RUIN this country and its international reputation.
Brexit has dug this country into a hole. And the first rule of what to do when you find yourself in a HOLE is to STOP DIGGING! This woman just wants to keep on digging!
The ECHR—the European Convention on Human Rights—has got nothing to do with the European Union. Though I wouldn’t mind betting that Badenoch thinks it does, simply because its title has the word ‘European’ in it! It would be ludicrous for the country to exit the ECHR. It is this which guarantees OUR rights as British subjects of the King! To think that trusting any British government to write a document guaranteeing our rights if we left would be like trusting a pet snake not to bite you!
More Thatcherism is the last thing this country needs! We already have enough wealth inequality from the last dose we had of Thatcherism. And in any case, Thatcher herself sold off all the family silver. As a result, the nation is on its uppers; so there is no more family silver left to sell off!
And as for her latest suggestion of emulating Trump’s Gestapo, well… Whoever would have thought that any Briton could be so atupid or so cruel? Furthermore, does this European nation ALWAYS have to follow what American presidents do, even when their policies are the height of cruelty and even when the president himself is suffering from galloping dementia?
If Conservatives know what is good for them—and please remember that I write as a one-time, lifelong, ardent Conservative—they will ditch this leader. Being led by such thinking will give the party no chance even of a comeback, still less a victory at the polls! — © Mark Alexander

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said the president was abusing his power and that Trump was "attempting to manufacture a crisis".
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said: "Amidst ongoing violent riots and lawlessness, that local leaders like [Gov] Pritzker have refused to step in to quell, President Trump has authorized 300 national guardsmen to protect federal officers and assets".
If things go on like this in America, civil war could well ensue. This is quite possibly what Trump wants in order to complete his goal of turning America into a fascist dictatorship — a country ruled by one party and even one family. When Manchester, England, joined Boulder, Colorado, Washington and other cities in the tragic roll call of anti-Jewish violence on Thursday, British Jews were shocked and saddened by the recognition that antisemitism, already on the rise in their country, had mutated again into something deadlier.
Like other European countries and the United States, Britain has recorded a marked rise in antisemitic incidents in the nearly two years since the attack by Hamas militants on civilians in Israel and the Israeli military campaign in Gaza that followed.
There had been no recent acts of targeted violence at synagogues in Britain, although Jewish people and places of worship have featured in several terrorist plots thwarted by the police over the past decade.
