Germany's central bank has taken the unprecedented decision to sack one of its board members after he repeatedly expressed criticism of the country's Muslim population and made other comments that were considered racist.

The decision followed an extraordinary meeting held by the Bundesbank's president, Axel Weber, and the board's four other members. They will now ask the German president to carry out the dismissal of Thilo Sarrazin, according to the rules of the bank.

Thilo Sarrazins Karriere bei der Deutschen Bundesbank ist beendet. Der Vorstand der Notenbank beschloss einstimmig, beim Bundespräsidenten die Abberufung von Sarrazin als Mitglied des Vorstands zu beantragen. Als Grund wird die Bundesbank nach Informationen von WELT ONLINE ins Feld führen, dass Sarrazin keine „Mäßigung im Amt“ an den Tag legte.

Zum ersten Mal in ihrer Geschichte beruft die Bundesbank einen Vorstand ab. Damit zog die Notenbank die Konsequenzen aus der Debatte über Sarrazins umstrittene Äußerungen der jüngsten Zeit. In einem am Montag erschienenen Buch hatte Sarrazin über die angeblich mangelnde Integrationsfähigkeit von Migranten geschrieben, außerdem sprach er von einem angeblichen Gen, das Juden kennzeichne. Über die Abberufung entscheidet Bundespräsident Christian Wulff, der am Abend eine Entlassung bereits prüfte.

Die Bundesbank hatte am Dienstag Sarrazin in einer Anhörung ein Ultimatum gesetzt: Entweder er trete bis Ende der Woche zurück, oder die Bundesbank werde beim Bundespräsidenten um seine Abberufung bitten. TRIBUNE DE GENÈVE: FRANCFORT | Le banquier Thilo Sarrazin a soulevé la polémique en tenant des propos pour le moins provocateurs sur l'intégration des musulmans en Allemagne.

Le directoire de la Bundesbank, la banque centrale allemande, a demandé jeudi "à l’unanimité" l’éviction de l’un de ses membres, Thilo Sarrazin, pour des propos jugés racistes et antisémites.

La décision finale de limoger Sarrazin, arrivé au directoire de la "Buba" en 2009 et dont le mandat s’achève en 2014, revient désormais au président fédéral, Christian Wulff. Celui-ci a annoncé dans un communiqué qu’il allait "examiner" la requête de la Bundesbank.

C’est la première fois qu’une telle procédure est engagée par cette institution prestigieuse en Allemagne, créée en 1958 et très jalouse de son indépendance.

M. Wulff avait jugé mercredi soir qu’il fallait éviter "que la discussion ne nuise à l’Allemagne, notamment sur le plan international".

De son côté la chancelière Angela Merkel, qui n’a aucun pouvoir d’intervention sur la Bundesbank, a fait part de son "grand respect" pour la décision prise par les banquiers centraux.

Auparavant le président de la Banque centrale européenne (BCE), Jean-Claude Trichet, s’était dit "consterné" par les thèses défendues par Sarrazin.

La Bundesbank était déjà intervenue l’an dernier en le privant d’une grande partie de ses prérogatives après des propos controversés sur les étrangers.

Bundespräsident Christian Wulff muss dem noch zustimmen, er will sich noch äussern. Ausserdem wurde Sarrazin mit sofortiger Wirkung der Geschäftsbereich entzogen. Derart drastische Massnahmen hat es in der Geschichte der Bank noch nie gegeben.

Keine Begründung

Eine Begründung lieferte die Bundesbank in ihrer Pressemitteilung über den geplanten Rauswurf nicht. Mitgeteilt wurde lediglich noch, dass der Corporate Governance-Beauftragte der Bundesbank, Uwe Schneider, diesen Antrag uneingeschränkt unterstütze. Das wiederum deutete darauf hin, dass sich die Bundesbank in ihrem Abberufungsantrag auf einen schweren Verhaltensfehler Sarrazins berufen wird.

Vor Ablauf ihrer Amtszeit können die Vorstandsmitglieder nach geltendem Recht nur abberufen werden, wenn sie die Voraussetzungen zur Ausübung ihrer Tätigkeit nicht mehr erfüllen: etwa etwa [sic] bei schwerer Krankheit oder bei einer schweren Verfehlung. >>> ddp | Donnerstag, 02. September 2010

Ein ehrlicher Mann sagt was er glaubt! – Ein Mann liebt sein Vaterland, und die Abschaffung seines Landes sieht er im voraus. Er schreibt ein Buch, um seine Ideen zu schildern, als Warnung. Und schon hat der Dreck den Lüfter getroffen!

Anscheinend darf man in Deutschland nicht mehr die Wahrheit sagen. In einer gesunden Demokratie sollte es einem möglich sein, Äußerungen zu machen, die äußerst unbequem sind. Wenn dies einem nicht möglich ist, dann ist die Demokratie nicht nur am Sterben, sondern schon tod!

Für diesen Mann, tut es mir wirklich leid. Ich bin sicher er hat es gut gemeint. Ich werde sicher sein Buch lesen. Bis dahin, muß ich es beurteilen von was ich in den Zeitungen gelesen habe. Es scheint mir, daß er ein ganz gutes, provokatives, wenn auch unangenehmes Buch geschrieben hat. In seiner Einsamkeit, sollte man diesem mutigen Mann zustehen.

Haben diese Leute wirklich dieses Buch gelesen, oder sind sie zu diesem enttäuschenden Schluß gekommen nur von Hörensagen?

Sarrazin’s Truths: Political Correctness Is Silencing an Important Debate

SPIEGEL ONLINE INTERNATIONAL: German central banker Thilo Sarrazin is being pilloried over his polemic chastising of Muslims, but there are a few things his critics clearly fail to understand. You can't cast away what the man embodies: The anger of a German people who are tired of being cursed at when they offer to help foreigners to integrate.

Nothing is as it used to be. In this season of public outrage, the case of Thilo Sarrazin has grown far bigger than Sarrazin. It's much bigger than the man or the Islam-critical book he wrote.

The Sarrazin case is also a Merkel case, a case for his party, the center-left Social Democrats, and for the German political and media establishment. Sarrazin has become code for the outrage over how the politically correct branch of Germany's consensus-based society have dispatched their stewards to escort this unsettling heckler to the door. On their way, they seem to be trying to teach him a lesson, as well: "We will beat tolerance into you."

Sarrazin isn't telegenic and he often gets tangled up in statistics. When it comes to styling, he's at a loss -- he is unkempt when he appears on the myriad talkshows that keep our entertainment society going. He slips on one banana peel of political correctness after another, opening himself to attack with his statements about genetics. But his findings on the failed integration of Turkish and Arab immigrants are beyond any doubt.

Sarrazin has been forced out of the Bundesbank. The SPD wants to kick him out of the party, too. Invitations previously extended to Sarrazin are being withdrawn. The culture page editors at the German weekly Die Zeit are crying foul and the editors at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung are damning Sarrazin for passages he didn't even write.

Technicians of Exclusion

But what all these technicians of exclusion fail to see is that you cannot cast away the very thing that Sarrazin embodies: the anger of people who are sick and tired -- after putting a long and arduous process of Enlightenment behind them -- of being confronted with pre-Enlightenment elements that are returning to the center of our society. They are sick of being cursed or laughed at when they offer assistance with integration. And they are tired about reading about Islamist associations that have one degree of separation from terrorism, of honor killings, of death threats against cartoonists and filmmakers. They are horrified that "you Christian" has now become an insult on some school playgrounds. And they are angry that Western leaders are now being forced to fight for a woman in an Islamic country because she has been accused of adultery and is being threatened with stoning.

Ich habe den folgenden Kommentar letzte Woche geschrieben über den Fall Sarrazins in der Neuen Zürcher Zeitung:

Sarrazin hat einen hohen Preis bezahlt für seine Ehrlichkeit!

In Thilo Sarrazin hat Deutschland einen mutigen Mann. Er ist bereit zu sagen und schreiben, was gesagt und geschrieben sein sollte. Leider muß er für seine Ehrlichkeit einen sehr hohen Preis bezahlen. Angela Merkel, als Aufgewachsene in der ehemaligen DDR, hätte schon besser wissen sollen, wie wichtig die Redefreiheit ist. Diese Geschichte ist nicht gut für ihr Image, auch nicht für das Bild von Christian Wulff. Beide sehen schwach aus.

Als Engländer, verstehe ich schon, daß die Deutschen in Fragen der Rasse sensibel sind. In Betracht der Geschicht, müssen sie auch so sein. Aber aufgepaßt! Die Wahrheit sollte nicht unter den Teppich gekehrt werden. Fakt ist: Durch ihre Religion, dürfen Muslime nicht integrieren. Prophet Muhammad sagte das laut und klar. Ein echter Muslim sollte sich nicht kleiden wie ein Ungläubiger, er sollte nicht mit den Ungläubigen kehren, und zudem sollte er nicht einen Freund machen aus einem Ungläubigen.

FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG: Thilo Sarrazin hat ein antimuslimisches Dossier verfasst. Das Buch erscheint am Montag und will elementare Lebens-zusammenhänge auf den Punkt bringen. Die Botschaft ist klar: Die islamische Immigration nach Deutschland muss gestoppt werden - aus „letztlich“ genetischen Gründen.

Ist es eine gute Idee, den Bundesbanker Thilo Sarrazin zum Testfall der Meinungsfreiheit in Deutschland zu machen? Es ist keine gute Idee, weil noch niemand Thilo Sarrazin daran gehindert hat, „kein Blatt vor den Mund zu nehmen“ (Sarrazin). Der Vorstand der Deutschen Bundesbank, Sozialdemokrat, früherer Berliner Finanzsenator, veröffentlicht seitenlange Interviews und legt nächste Woche unter dem Titel „Deutschland schafft sich ab“ ein dickes Buch zur Rettung unseres Landes vor. Niemand unterbindet dies.

Dass Sigmar Gabriel seinem Parteigenossen indirekt den Austritt aus der SPD nahelegte, weil er in seinem Buch rassistisch argumentiere, ist gerade kein Maulkorb. Es ist die Artikulation eines Befremdens über Sarrazins „gewalttätige Aussagen“ (Gabriel), die an die Substanz der Partei rühren. Schaeuble 'Ashamed' at Bundesbank Member Sarrazin's Anti-Immigrant Remarks
BLOOMBERG: Chancellor Angela Merkel and Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble distanced themselves from Bundesbank board member Thilo Sarrazin after he excoriated immigrants as a burden on German society.

Sarrazin’s comments in a recent book, in which he claimed that immigrants from Turkey, the Middle East and Africa are making Germany “dumber,” are “not helpful at all” and “can be hurtful for a lot people,” Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters today. Bundesbank President Axel Weber should consider taking action against Sarrazin, though his options are limited, Schaeuble said.

“I would be ashamed if a leading member of my party expressed himself in this way,” Schaeuble, a Christian Democrat, said in Berlin. Social Democratic Chairman Sigmar Gabriel said he didn’t know why Sarrazin was still a member of his party, Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported.

Sarrazin’s new book, whose title translates as “Germany Eliminates Itself,” makes a case against immigrant groups in Germany and their impact on the country. A former finance minister for the city-state of Berlin, Sarrazin argues that immigrants from countries such as Turkey and Morocco depend on the state and bring down the country’s education level.

“I don’t want the country of my grandchildren and forefathers to be in broad swathes Muslim, where Turkish and Arabic is widely spoken, where women wear headscarves and where the daily rhythm of life is set by the call of the muezzins,” Sarrazin wrote in an extract published in Der Spiegel magazine on Aug. 22. A Tale of Two European Remarks: De Gucht and Sarrazin
CANADA FREE PRESS: In August, Thilo Sarrazin a member of the board of the German Central Bank, and a critic of Islamic immigration, mentioned that Jews and Basque and some other ethnic groups have a common gene. What followed was a storm of protests and accusations that Sarrazin was anti-Semitic. Sarrazin was dismissed from his position on the board, and newspaper articles explained that it was for remarks that he had made about Muslims and Jews.

Last week, Karel De Gucht, the European Commissioner for Trade, gave a radio show his considered opinion of Jews. Naturally De Gucht put on his best jackboots, and explained that there will be no peace because the Jews run America, that Jews believe they are always right, and that it’s impossible to have a conversation with even a “moderate Jew”. While a few Jewish groups have protested, the European Commission has shrugged, and the media has shrugged too. The odds that De Gucht will be forced out of his job, the way that Sarrazin was are minimal.

But the difference between Sarrazin and De Gucht, was that Sarrazin said something truly unacceptable about an untouchable group. Muslims. While De Gucht mainly expressed a popular view among European elites about the Jews. The ferocious charges of Anti-Semitism against Sarrazin hinged only on him stating a casual fact that Jews are genetically related to one another. It isn’t Anti-Semitism, it’s Science. Sarrazin was not charged with Anti-Semitism because of what he had said about Jews, but because of what he had said about Muslims.


The media did not bother to report that Sarrazin had said that he would prefer immigration “if it was by eastern European Jews with a 15-percent-higher IQ than the German population.” An odd remark for an “Anti-Semite” to make. It would indeed seem that Thilo Sarrazin has a more positive view of Jews, than Karel De Gucht does. But it’s not really about the Jews. It’s about Muslims.

The Jews were used as cover by the advocates of multiculturalism to charge Sarrazin with bigotry. And there was a reason for that. Sarrazin had described himself as a mongrel, with French, Italian and Polish ancestry. His criticism of Muslim immigration was not genetic, but based on their refusal to integrate into Germany. Sarrazin had pointed out that other immigrants from Eastern Europe and Vietnam were productive members of society. Muslims however were not.

Muslims are not a genetic group, but a cultural and ideological one. The media couldn’t charge him with racial hatred for pointing out the cultural problems of Muslim immigrants. And discussing his remarks too much, would raise the danger that people might agree. And so the media was forced to treat Sarrazin’s offhand remark about Jews and Basque sharing genes as some sort of Third Reich throwback in order to charge him with racism. Angela Merkel Calls for Banker's Sacking Over Remarks on Jews and Muslims
THE GUARDIAN: German chancellor calls on Bundesbank to sack board member Thilo Sarrazin

The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, today called on Germany's central bank to dismiss one of its board members over comments he made on Jews and immigrants.

Thilo Sarrazin said that "all Jews share the same gene" and Muslim immigrants in Europe were unwilling to integrate or incapable of integrating into western societies.

Jewish and Muslim communities have condemned the 65-year-old's remarks, which were made before the launch of his book, Deutschland Schafft Sich Ab – or Germany Abolishes Itself – today.

Merkel's spokesman, Steffen Seibert, reiterated the chancellor's call for the Bundesbank to consider Sarrazin's future.

"These are comments that only damage and don't help integration in this country, which is a national duty," Seibert said at a government news conference.

Last year, Sarrazin – who previously served as the regional finance minister for Berlin – told a magazine: "I do not need to accept anyone who lives on handouts from a state that it rejects, is not adequately concerned about the education of their children and constantly produces new little headscarf-clad girls." >>> Mark Tran and agencies | Monday, August 30, 2010

Angela Merkel and others can kid themselves as much as they like, but the fact is that Muslims will not integrate into Western societies. It is expressly demanded of them NOT TO DO SO by their 'religion'. That means to say that their prophet told them to keep themselves apart from the infidels by not taking them as friends or helpers, and by dressing differently from them. That way they can tell themselves apart, and that way they won't become "corrupted". So Angela Merkel had better go and do her homework. Islam is a hard nut to crack. Es reicht aus, dass Muslime unsere Gesetze beachten, ihre Frauen nicht unterdrücken, Zwangsheiraten abschaffen, ihre Jugendlichen an Gewalttätigkeiten hindern und für ihren Lebensunterhalt selbst aufkommen. Darum geht es.

Wer diese Forderungen als Zwang zur Assimilation kritisiert, hat in der Tat ein Integrationsproblem. Vielleicht sollte er einmal einen Gedanken daran verschwenden, weshalb es in ganz Europa Vorbehalte gegen Muslime gibt – mit guten Gründen:

• Keine andere Religion in Europa tritt so fordernd auf.

• Keine andere Immigration ist so stark wie die muslimische mit Inanspruchnahme des Sozialstaats und Kriminalität verbunden.

• Keine Gruppe betont in der Öffentlichkeit so sehr ihre Andersartigkeit, insbesondere durch die Kleidung der Frauen.

Victory for Sarrazin: Firebrand Politician Can Remain a Social Democrat
SPIEGEL ONLINE INTERNATIONAL: Thilo Sarrazin, the German Social Democrat who attracted attention last year with his controversial book claiming that immigrants to Germany were dumbing down the country, will not be booted out of the party. He apologized on Thursday and the case against him was quickly abandoned.

After a mere five hours of debate, Germany's Social Democrats (SPD) formally withdrew a petition on Thursday to revoke party membership for firebrand politician Thilo Sarrazin, a former board member of Germany's central bank who drew widespread criticism for his extremely critical descriptions of Muslim immigrants in a bestselling book.

In an announcement that came surprisingly early, an arbitration committee of a local Berlin district chapter of the SPD -- which had been hearing petitions submitted from officials at the local, state and federal chapters of the party -- said all the requests for Sarrazin's exclusion from the Social Democrats had been withdrawn. The decision came after Sarrazin issued a statement in which he said it had not been his intention with his book to "discriminate against groups, particularly migrants." This was the second failed attempt in two years to ban Sarrazin from the center-left party.

The head of the arbitration committee, Sybille Uken, said a "constructive, respectful, serious and intense discussion" had been carried about by those involved in the case. "We have agreed not to allow the SPD to be divided," she said. Thilo Sarrazin ist ein Opfer seiner selbst und eines diskursiven Klimas, das zur liberalen Grundverfasstheit des Landes nicht recht passt. Seine Entscheidung, bei der Bundesbank hinzuwerfen, ist ein letzter Dienst des preußischen Beamten an jenem Staat, dem er als traditionalistischer Sozialdemokrat unverhohlen huldigt. Er verdient dafür breiten Respekt. Es schwingt wohl auch das Einsehen mit, dass er sich mit der ein oder anderen These vergaloppiert hat und nun die Konsequenzen dafür zu tragen hat. Der frühere Bundesbank-Vorstand und SPD-Politiker Thilo Sarrazin hat mit seinen Gegnern aus der Politik abgerechnet. “Ich habe mein Amt aufgegeben, weil nach der beispiellosen Kampagne aus der Spitze des Staates ein gedeihliches Arbeiten im Vorstand der Bundesbank nicht mehr möglich gewesen wäre“, sagte Sarrazin im Interview mit "Bild am Sonntag".

“Ich habe keinen Streit angefangen, sondern schwierige Sachverhalte schlüssig dargelegt. Der Zorn kam nicht von mir, sondern von meinen Gegnern in Politik und Medien.“ Sarrazin fügte hinzu: “Wer, wenn nicht einer wie ich – 65 Jahre alt, politisch erfahren und ohne materielle Bedrohungsängste – soll denn in Deutschland unangenehme Wahrheiten aussprechen? Manchmal habe ich den Eindruck, wir sind auf dem Weg in die Duckmäuser-Republik.“

Scharf kritisierte Sarrazin das Verhalten von Bundespräsident Christian Wulff während seines Türkei-Besuchs: “In der Türkei wurde und wird der christliche Glaube bestenfalls geduldet. Die Zahlen sprechen da eine deutliche Sprache: Gab es 1914 noch 25 Prozent Christen in der Türkei, sind es heute gerade noch 0,2 Prozent. Und an der deutschen Schule in Istanbul ist seit einigen Jahren der Deutschunterricht in den unteren Klassen verboten. Der Bundespräsident hat über diese nicht sehr erfreulichen Zustände eine Harmonie-Kitsch-Sauce gegossen.“

Auch die Äußerungen von Wulff in der Islam-Debatte wies Sarrazin zurück: “Es ist falsch zu sagen, dass der Islam zu Deutschland gehört. Die deutsche Kultur ist weitgehend ohne Bezug auf den Islam entstanden. Die Tatsache, dass bei uns Millionen Mitbürger islamischen Glaubens leben, ändert daran nichts. Sarrazin Wants ‘Terms’ for Migrants to Live in Germany
HÜRRIYET DAILY NEWS: BERLIN – The former member of the German Central Bank’s executive board who sparked a fierce debate on immigration and integration issues with his controversial book has proposed “new conditions” for immigrants who want to live in the country. Those who force their daughters to wear headscarves or to marry their relatives have no place in Germany, Thilo Sarrazin said over the weekend.

Speaking to Germany’s Bild am Sonntag late last week, Sarrazin proposed severely limiting family reunification laws for immigrants, excluding the incorporation of immigrants’ children into the social welfare system.

“In my opinion, the option for relatives to follow an immigrant and be integrated into our social welfare system attracts the wrong kind of migrants,” he said, calling for the termination of social services for immigrants on a long-term basis or even permanently.

He also proposed removing Turkish or Arabic signs at public offices to “implement a whole new level of pressure on people to learn German.”

“The head of a household who speaks the German language but hinders his family from learning it has no business living in Germany. Sie sprach sich in der Bild am Sonntag dafür aus, die statistisch erhöhte Gewaltbereitschaft strenggläubiger muslimischer Jugendlicher nicht zu tabuisieren: "Das ist ein großes Problem und wir können offen darüber sprechen, ohne dass der Verdacht der Fremdenfeindlichkeit aufkommt."

Ausgelöst hatte die Diskussion der umstrittene Bundesbank-Vorstand Thilo Sarrazin, dem aufgrund seiner Thesen nun der Job-Verlust und der Ausschluss aus der SPD drohen. Über Sarrazins Abberufung aus dem Vorstand der Notenbank muss Bundespräsident Christian Wulff entscheiden.

Der SPD-Vorsitzende Sigmar Gabriel rief seine Partei dazu auf, sich "intensiver und offensiver" der Integration zu widmen. THE LEGAL PROJECT: A recent decision by the United Nation's (UN) Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) foreshadows an ominous future for free societies should Muslim entities like the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) achieve their goal of having "Islamophobia" defined internationally as a form of prejudice.

Former German central bank board member Thilo Sarrazin has got himself in trouble with the UN, as the Turkish Union in Berlin-Brandenburg (Türkischer Bund in Berlin-Brandenburg or TBB) stated with satisfaction in an April 18, 2013, German-language press release. The spokesman of this German-Turkish interest group, Hilmi Kaya Turan, praised a February 26, 2013, "historic decision" by the CERD condemning Germany for not having prosecuted Sarrazin's criticism of Arab and Turkish immigrants.

Sarrazin, a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands or SPD), produced a storm of controversy with his August 2010 book Deutschland Schafft Sich Ab: Wie Wir Unser Land aufs Spiel Setzen ("Germany Abolishes Itself: How We Are Risking Our Country"). In the context of this controversy, CERD's detailed 19-page target=_blank>decision extensively excerpted in English translation a fall 2009 interview with Sarrazin. In the interview, the Berlin magazine Lettre International discussed some of the upcoming book's themes.

CERD complained that "[i]n this interview, Mr. Sarrazin expressed himself in a derogatory and discriminatory way about social 'lower classes', which are not productive' and would have to 'disappear over time' in order to create a city of the 'elite'." German Banker, Sacked for Making 'Jewish Gene' Remark, Threatens Litigation
HAARETZ: Thilo Sarrazin contends that the law is on his side; legal challenge could weigh on the German government.

A member of the German central bank's board is threatening to go to court to prevent his dismissal for controversial remarks on Jews and Muslim immigrants that led the board to vote to fire him.

In extracts from an interview with the German news weekly Focus released on Saturday ahead of publication, Bundesbank board member Thilo Sarrazin likened a wave of criticism of him to a "political show trial."

He said if German President Christian Wulff approved his sacking in the next few days, the decision would be overturned by the justice system.

The president will have to consider carefully whether he "wants to see this political show trial to its end, and then see (his decision) thrown out by the courts," Sarrazin said.

Sarrazin has previously courted controversy with remarks about Germany's Muslim population, and the latest furor erupted in the run-up to the publication of his new book "Deutschland schafft sich ab" (Germany does away with itself).

Sarrazin argues in the book that Muslims undermine German society, sponge off the state and threaten to change its character and culture with their higher birth rate.

What is wrong with our so-called leaders? The problem is that they are not leaders at all. They lack the spine, guts, and courage to do what they are elected, employed and paid to do: to lead. Take Angela Merkel and Christian Wulff in Germany as examples. They have set upon poor Thilo Sarrazin and want him out of the Bundesbank, all because he has been intellectually honest and has written a book which I suspect most voters would agree with. Unfortunately, the book is anything but politically correct: It states what the political class, the political élite, does not want to hear. It tells it like it is. And the shit has hit the fan!

Fact is that the leaders in most countries in the West, America included, are part of the problem, not part of the solution, One has to ask oneself one simple question: If our ‘leaders’ won’t save the West from the onslaught of Islam, a dark, backward political system clothed in a deity, then what happens next? Whatever happens, the West HAS TO BE SAVED from the forces of barbarism and darkness. And if you think that I am exaggerating, consider what has been said by a convert to Islam in Australia in the past few days: He has called for Geert Wilders’ head – literally – all because Mr Wilders has criticised Islam and the prophet Muhammad, all because Mr Wilders wants to save the Netherlands from the forces of darkness.

But what is being done about this Muslim’s hate-filled comments, what is being done about his incitement to violence against an innocent man who just doesn’t happen to share this fanatic’s worldview? The answer is simple: Nothing! But when a great intellect such as Thilo Sarrazin writes a book as a warning to Germans that their country is being destroyed, all hell breaks loose! It really is coming to something here in the West when a man of this calibre has to leave his prestigious post just for saying the truth. I shall repeat what Herr Sarrazin stated: Muslims ARE incapable of integrating into German society, or any other Western society for that matter, simply because their prophet told them not to integrate. He told them to tell themselves apart from the infidel by dressing differently, by not mixing with them, and by not befriending them. Hence my sympathies are with Herr Sarrazin.

Angela Merkel and Christian Wulff have shown their true colours: THEY ARE WEAK AND UNPRINCIPLED. Angela Merkel, coming from the then communist East Germany should know better than many what it is like to live in a country where there is no freedom of speech. Her stance in this matter is therefore all the more surprising and perplexing. One can only conclude that neither Frau Merkel nor Herr Wulff deserve their elevated positions. – © Mark

Die Tage von Thilo Sarrazin im Vorstand der Bundesbank sind angeblich gezählt. Die Führung der Notenbank ließ nach einer Krisensitzung am Mittwoch zwar die Zukunft ihres umstrittenen Vorstandsmitglieds offen. Nach Informationen der „Berliner Zeitung“ sprach sich der Vorstand aber bereits intern für die Trennung von Sarrazin aus, der wegen seiner Thesen zur Integration von Zuwanderern in der Kritik steht. Es gehe nur noch darum, wie man Sarrazins Chancen bei einer Klage gegen den Rauswurf minimieren könne, berichtet das Blatt.

Ein Bundesbanksprecher hatte am Mittwoch erklärt, mit einer Entscheidung sei frühestens an diesem Donnerstag zu rechnen.Sarrazin könnte auf Antrag des Bundesbank-Vorstands vom Bundespräsidenten abberufen werden. Wonderful Words from Thilo Sarrazin! Germans Argue Over 'Failure to Integrate'
BBC: Thilo Sarrazin is not charismatic, but he has become a man of influence. He has changed the debate over immigration in Germany.

In his view "suppressing emotion is even more dangerous" than broaching subjects that were recently largely off-limits.

Others, like analyst Prof Klaus Kocks, have issued a note of caution. "As a German," he told me, "you have to be more careful than others. You have to accept our history."

I met Thilo Sarrazin at his old school in Recklinghausen. He was there to promote his book, Germany Abolishes Itself. He is both reviled and admired for its controversial thesis.

Outside the school were a handful of protesters. One banner accused Mr Sarrazin of acting like the Nazis. There were many more, however, who had bought tickets to hear him. His book has sold close to a million copies.

His essential message is that Muslims are either "unwilling or unable to integrate" into Western society. "If the majority of migrants from non-Muslim countries don't have any obvious problem integrating," he told a packed hall, "then the failure to integrate on the part of migrants from Muslim countries can't be due to a fault on our side - because all are treated equally. It has to be because of a characteristic of Muslims themselves."

He is not a great speaker. He deals in statistics. He recognises that some Muslims have integrated, but he believes Germany has gone too far in trying to accommodate them. "People who obey laws are welcome to live here," he told me, but he wants to end Muslim immigration.

For those already in Germany, welfare payments would be dependent on learning German and acquiring language skills. Parents who do not send their children to school (for religious reasons) should be fined. Forced marriages should be forbidden. His message is that Muslim migrants must accept German laws, the constitution and the values of their new society.

His comments have set off a huge debate. "We have a very serious shift in discussion," Prof Kocks told me. What makes his book sales all the more extraordinary is that Thilo Sarrazin said, as part of the publicity for the book, that Jews had a certain gene. He was condemned by mainstream politicians and the remark led to his resignation from the board of the Bundesbank. Even so, the public made his book a best-seller. SPIEGEL ONLINE INTERNATIONAL: Germany is Europe's paymaster because it committed the Holocaust, claims a new book by Thilo Sarrazin, a firebrand author and former board member of the German central bank. The claim by the controversial writer achieved the desired effect of stoking publicity for Tuesday's launch of 'Europe Doesn't Need the Euro.'

Thilo Sarrazin, the former board member of Germany's central bank who caused outrage two years ago with a bestseller criticizing the impact of Muslim immigrants on German society, presented a new book on Tuesday that could strike a similar chord with Germans: "Europe Doesn't Need the Euro."

In his latest work, the combative politician, a maverick member of the opposition center-left Social Democratic Party, controversially argues that Germany is being pressured to bail out the euro zone because it perpetrated the Holocaust.

Interviewé par la revue culturelle berlinoise Lettre International sur la problématique de l'intégration, Thilo Sarrazin, administrateur de la Bundesbank et ancien sénateur des finances de Berlin, n'y était effectivement pas allé avec le dos de la cuiller : "Les Turcs conquièrent l'Allemagne exactement comme les Kosovars ont conquis le Kosovo : avec un taux de natalité élevé", avait déclaré le social-démocrate, disant ne pas accepter "ceux qui vivent aux crochets de l'Etat, rejettent ce pays (...) et fabriquent sans arrêt des petites filles avec des foulards". En guise de conclusion, M. Sarrazin avait décrété qu'un "grand nombre d'Arabes et de Turcs (à Berlin) n'ont aucune fonction productive à l'exception de la vente des fruits et des légumes".

Depuis dix jours, la polémique enfle. Aux critiques ont succédé les appels à la démission. La direction de la Bundesbank et le SPD disent réfléchir à des sanctions. Vendredi, le Conseil central des juifs d'Allemagne a comparé le fauteur de troubles à "Goering, Goebbels et Hitler". Bundesbank Official to Be Sacked After Controversial Jewish and Muslim Comments
THE TELEGRAPH: Germany's Bundesbank has agreed to sack board member Thilo Sarrazin, whose comments stereotyping Jews and Muslims have drawn outrage.

The Bundesbank said in a statement that its six-member board "unanimously agreed" to ask Christian Wulff, the German President, to remove Mr Sarrazin, 65, from his post. It said the bank's corporate governance commissioner "unreservedly supports" the decision.

Mr Wulff's office said he had received the request from the Bundesbank and was considering it. It did not say when he was expected to make a decision.

Chancellor Angela Merkel and several members of her government have indicated they would like Mr Sarrazin to go, amid fears that his comments were damaging to the central bank's reputation.
