Steve Schmidt: Trump Will Destroy America in 2026

Government to Review 'Information Failures' in British-Egyptian Activist Case
BBC: Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has launched a review into what she calls "serious information failures" in the case of British-Egyptian activist Alaa Abd El Fattah.
In a letter to the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Cooper said she, Sir Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy "were all unaware" of Mr Abd El Fattah's historical tweets, which they consider to be "abhorrent".
It comes after the Conservatives and Reform UK called for the activist to be stripped of UK citizenship and deported after social media posts emerged in which he called for Zionists to be killed.
Mr Abd El Fattah has apologised, saying he understood "how shocking and hurtful" the posts were.
Sir Keir Starmer has been criticised for saying he was "delighted" by Mr Abd El Fattah's arrival in the UK on Friday, three months after the democracy activist was freed from prison in Egypt.
On Monday, Sir Keir said the resurfaced tweets were "absolutely abhorrent" and said the government was "taking steps to review the information failures in this case".
"With the rise of antisemitism, and recent horrific attacks, I know this has added to the distress of many in the Jewish community in the UK," he added. » | Helen Catt, Political correspondent and Ian Aikman | Monday, December 29, 2025. Updated today.

Chlorinated Chicken Is Back and Starmer Is Letting It Happen
Oh God! We beseech Thee to spare us the pain of Farage as our prime minister. The man has already done untold damage to the British economy with his ridiculous Brexit. Please don't let him finish the job and totally destroy it.
Moreover, let Americans enjoy their inferior quality foodstuffs, their chlorinated chicken and their hormone-injected beef. WE DON’T WANT THEM.
Starmer needs to grow a backbone and stop pandering to the Orange One. That goes for our royal family too. We Brits are Europeans, and our place is in Europe. We should also be able to enjoy the wonderful array of European foodstuffs. If we take just cheese alone, the variety of European cheeses can be counted in the several thousands. France alone produces nearly 1,800 cheese varieties. America simply cannot compete. For the gourmet, it has to be Europe, not America. — © Mark Alexander

George Clooney and Wife Amal Granted French Citizenship
THE GUARDIAN: The actor said privacy laws protecting children from paparazzi were a key factor in the family’s decision
George Clooney has been granted French citizenship, along with his wife Amal Clooney and their two children, according to an official decree in France’s government gazette.
The publication confirms an ambition Clooney alluded to early in December when he praised French privacy laws that keep his family shielded from paparazzi.
“I love the French culture, your language, even if I’m still bad at it after 400 days of courses,” the actor told RTL radio at the time – in English.
“Here, they don’t take photos of kids. There aren’t any paparazzi hidden at the school gates. That’s number one for us,” he said.
The now-dual US-French citizen has a long attachment to Europe that predates his 2014 marriage to his wife, a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer who speaks fluent French. » | Agence France-Presse | Monday, December 29, 2025

Steve Schmidt: Trump’s Appeasement of Putin Threatens the World
You get an ignorant leader of the West when you let ignorant people elect such a powerful man. This is the weakness of democracy — when the right to vote is given to know-nothings. And, while we are at it, how many innocent Ukrainians (and Russians) have had to die because of this ignorance? — © Mark Alexander
IHIP News: Trump Can’t Stop Glazing Putin! Embarrassing Press Conference Has Allies in Disbelief
Very strong language alert!
Trump is such a WEAK man. He understands FA about geopolitics and/or diplomacy. He is a very IGNORANT person. He has read NOTHING, and it shows! Add all this to his insatiable need to become ever richer, his propensity to lie through his teeth, and his corrupt nature, and we have a disaster in the making. — © Mark Alexander
