Der islamistische CSD-Attentäter Abdul Ballout ist am Dienstag beerdigt worden. Wie ein Polizeisprecher bestätigte, fand die Beisetzung im muslimischen Teil des Friedhofs Gatow statt. Auf Wunsch der Familie und der Friedhofsverwaltung erfolgte die Zeremonie unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit.
190 Einsatzkräfte der Polizei sowie Beamte des Landeskriminalamtes sicherten das Areal ab. „So konnte dafür gesorgt werden, dass die Beisetzung, aber auch andere Beisetzungen, würdevoll stattfinden konnten“, sagte Polizeisprecher Jörn Iffländer. Muslime in Berlin-Neukölln über den CSD-Anschlag: „Schwul sein ist Sünde. Menschen töten auch“
BERLINER ZEITUNG: Nach dem islamistischen Anschlag auf den Berliner CSD führt die Debatte auch das migrantisch geprägte Berlin-Neukölln, oder? Doch dort wissen viele gar nichts vom Anschlag.

Der Islam und die liberale Demokratie sind absolut unvereinbar. Der Westen kann nichts tun, um diese Tatsache zu ändern; es wird immer so bleiben. Im Islam gilt Homosexualität als schwere Sünde. Man könnte einwenden, dass dies auch im Christentum der Fall ist. Doch es gibt einen gewaltigen Unterschied zwischen beiden: Einige extrem fundamentalistische Muslime sind bereit zu töten, um sicherzustellen, dass Allahs Wille auf Erden befolgt wird. Fundamentalistische Christen hingegen – so lästig sie auch oft sein mögen – neigen nicht zu solch extremem Verhalten.
Die traurige Tatsache ist, dass wir all diese Muslime in den Westen hereingelassen haben – in der vergeblichen Hoffnung, sie würden sich westlich orientieren und ihr rückständiges Denken ablegen. Zwar werden sich einige Muslime – insbesondere jene, die ihren Glauben nur dem Namen nach praktizieren – tatsächlich liberalisieren und ihre Ansichten ändern; doch bei der großen Mehrheit ist dies nicht der Fall. Die Mehrheit der Muslime im Westen wird genauso unaufgeklärt bleiben, wie sie es an dem Tag war, als sie hierher kam! Die Hoffnung des Westens, ihre Einstellung zu Lebensweisen wie der Homosexualität zu akzeptieren, ist also tatsächlich vergeblich. Berlin Pride Alleged Attacker Was Unwilling to Deradicalize, Expert Tells DW | DW News
July 29, 2026 | The alleged Berlin Pride killer showed no willingness to deradicalize, according to the organization that attempted to counsel him. DW spoke to Cornelia Lotthammer, director of the Violence Prevention Network, the court-appointed NGO handling the case of 21-year-old Abdul B. Days before he allegedly attacked Berlin’s LGBTQ+ parade, Lotthammer’s team had already decided he was unfit for counselling. She says a court could have decided to send him to deradicalization training in prison.
Abdul B., a German-born citizen, had been convicted for acts of extremism, including attempting to join the so-called Islamic State. In May 2026, a Berlin court sentenced him to almost two years in prison, but released him on preliminary probation. On July 25, he allegedly drove a van into a crowd near Berlin’s Christopher Street Day celebrations and then attacked people with a blade, killing one person and injuring 29 others. A day later he was tracked down and shot dead by police.
DW’s Pablo Foley Elias spoke to Cornelia Lotthammer about Abdul B.’s case, the causes of extremism, and how it needs to be addressed.
These people get themselves into a hell of a mess with this because they don't understand the root of the problem: Islam! Forget Islamism! These so-called Islamists are in love with Islam and their prophet. A so-called "Islamist" is merely a devout, practising, fundamentalist Muslim following uncompromisingly the precepts and tenets of his faith. When will these people get it? How many more people will have to be killed before they give up on their airy-fairy notions? And of course, this person was unwilling to deradicalize, for to concede to deradicalization would be tantamount to giving up on his faith!
Germany is never going to be able to solve its problems of homophobia in the Muslim community with this 'artsy-fartsy' outlook and talk! Don't confuse and conjoin the radical problems found in other groups with the "Queerfeindlichkeit' found in the Muslim community, otherwise you will never find solutions to the problem. The radicalization caused by the so-called hyper-masculinity trend is something quite different, and has to be treated quite differently. — © Mark Alexander

It feels like a well-rehearsed script. First come the flowers, then the pious statements. One after another, mainstream German politicians have lined up to claim that the attack on Berlin Pride last weekend was an attack on “all of us”, “our values” and “our society”.
Except it was not. This atrocity in which a van was rammed into the crowd was, first and foremost, an attack on queer people. A vulnerable community that has been fighting for its rights for many decades; that, in recent years and all over the world, has increasingly been targeted by conservative forces.
But, of course, the script is comfortable, because it requires nothing, least of all memory. In Germany, under the centre-right coalition led by the conservative chancellor, Friedrich Merz, the queer community has lost more and more resources, spaces and protection, due to decisions made by the very same people who are now expressing solidarity in public.
When Merz made the statement on Sunday that Pride-goers should not be intimidated, and that this attack was intended to divide our society, many queer people and allies wondered: is this the same Friedrich Merz who rejected the suggestion to fly a rainbow flag from the Bundestag during last year’s Pride, with the remark, “The Bundestag is not a circus tent”? » | Fatma Aydemir | Wednesday, July 29, 2026
Even though the Muslim world is replete with gays, just like every other society throughout the world is, Islam itself is extremely homophobic. The precepts and tenets of the faith insist on the adoption of a homophobic stance in order to be considered to be a good, Allah-fearing, prophet-Muhammad-loving and -following, Shariah-abiding, devout Muslim!
When it comes to homosexuality, what you find in many strict Islamic societies is hypocrisy: outwardly the Muslim will be extremely homophobic, but within high walls and closed doors—in secret— a very different picture often emerges. I know this to be so from personal experience. I have witnessed it first-hand. In fact, when I worked in the Middle East as a fresh-faced young man with thick, luxuriant hair—hair is a huge turn-on for very many Muslims, especially young ones—it was often a huge problem for me. At that time, I was still in the closet. To have been out in Saudi Arabia would have been untenable and dangerous. God only knows what would have happened!
I tell you this for one purpose: To show you that I know and understand the mentality of these people. Well! What happened in Germany at the weekend, was not an attack on all Germans; rather, it was a targeted attack on the queer community. Despite homosexuality being widespread in the Muslim community, homophobia is rifer amongst so-called Islamists, or fundamentalist, extremely devout Muslims. July 28, 2026 | A man drove a minivan into a crowd of people near Berlin's Pride celebrations on Saturday, killing one person and injuring 29 others. Authorities shot and killed the man during an operation on Sunday. The alleged suspect was identified as Abdul Ballout, a 21-year-old German citizen. According to authorities, Ballout tried to join the Islamic State in 2025 and was released from prison in May after being jailed for preparing an attack.
"The far right here in Germany is, of course, waiting for an attack like this one to use it in order to highlight that the foreigners are the problem," says Alfonso Pantisano, LGBTQ affairs commissioner for the Berlin state government. "By doing so, they completely forget and avoid to look at how much queerphobia there is in this country in all various levels of structures."

Die Ermittlungsbehörden haben nach einem Bericht der Bild-Zeitung das Mobiltelefon des mutmaßlichen CSD-Attentäters Abdul Ballout sichergestellt. Auf dem Gerät befinde sich eine Videoaufnahme vom Tag des Anschlags, in der sich der Beschuldigte zur Terrororganisation „Islamischer Staat“ (IS) bekenne, berichtete die Zeitung. Es ist weit verbreitet, sich der Vorstellung anzuschließen, es gebe einen Unterschied zwischen Islam und Islamismus sowie zwischen Muslimen und Islamisten. Zudem glauben viele, dies sei ein rein linkes Narrativ. Das ist es jedoch nicht. Leider sind es nicht nur Linke, die an diese falsche Unterscheidung glauben. Sehr viele Menschen – ob links, rechts oder aus der Mitte – übernehmen diese Unterscheidung zwischen Islam und Islamismus, weil sie auf das falsche Narrativ hereingefallen sind, das ihnen über Jahre hinweg vermittelt wurde. Und da sie so gut wie nichts über den Islam wussten, haben sie das akzeptiert, was ihnen von den Medien und dem Establishment vorgekaut wurde. Wie viele Menschen wissen zum Beispiel, dass der Islam im westlichen Sinne des Wortes eigentlich gar keine Religion ist? Nur wenige, würde ich behaupten.
Muslime betrachten den Islam als „Deen“ (manchmal auch „Dîn“ geschrieben) – nicht als Religion im westlichen Sinne. Das arabische Wort „Deen“ bedeutet weit mehr als das Wort „Religion“. Wie wir alle wissen, besteht eine Religion im Glauben an Gott und dessen Verehrung. Der Islam ist jedoch weit mehr als das. Ja, das gehört zwar dazu, aber der Islam umfasst noch sehr viel mehr.
Zunächst einmal ist der Islam eine umfassende Lebensweise. Er ist ein Verhaltenskodex für das Leben. Für alles gibt es eine richtige und eine falsche Vorgehensweise. Zudem leitet sich die gesamte islamische Rechtsauffassung von Allah, dem Islam und Mohammed ab. Ein Mann genießt hohes Ansehen, wenn er die Lebensweise und die Gewohnheiten des Propheten nachahmt. Das ist der Grund, warum sich so viele Muslime – insbesondere die gläubigen – lange Bärte wachsen lassen und den Schnurrbart stutzen; genau so hat es ihr Prophet getan. Muslime wissen sehr viel über ihren Propheten: wie er lebte, wie er aß, wie er andere behandelte usw. Hinzu kommt die Forderung nach völliger Unterwerfung unter Allah und absolutem Gehorsam ihm gegenüber. Für einen wahren Muslim gibt es kein „Herauspicken“ einzelner Aspekte; er oder sie muss das Ganze annehmen. — © Mark Alexander

Unfortunately, it is not only the left that believe in this false distinction. For starters, Islam is a total way of life. It is a code of conduct for living. There is a correct and incorrect way of doing everything. Also, all Islamic justice stems from Allah, Islam, and Muhammad. A man is held in high esteem if he emulates the ways and mannerisms of the Prophet. This is reason so many Muslims, especially devout ones, grow their beards long and clip their moustaches. This is what their prophet did. Muslims know so much about their prophet: how he lived, how he ate, how he treated others, etc. Then we come to the need for complete submission to, and complete obedience to, Allah. Es ist weit verbreitet, sich der Vorstellung anzuschließen, es gebe einen Unterschied zwischen Islam und Islamismus sowie zwischen Muslimen und Islamisten. Zudem glauben viele, dies sei ein rein linkes Narrativ. Das ist es jedoch nicht. Leider sind es nicht nur Linke, die an diese falsche Unterscheidung glauben. Sehr viele Menschen – ob links, rechts oder aus der Mitte – übernehmen diese Unterscheidung zwischen Islam und Islamismus, weil sie auf das falsche Narrativ hereingefallen sind, das ihnen über Jahre hinweg vermittelt wurde. Und da sie so gut wie nichts über den Islam wussten, haben sie das akzeptiert, was ihnen von den Medien und dem Establishment vorgekaut wurde. Wie viele Menschen wissen zum Beispiel, dass der Islam im westlichen Sinne des Wortes eigentlich gar keine Religion ist? Nur wenige, würde ich behaupten.
Muslime betrachten den Islam als „Deen“ (manchmal auch „Dîn“ geschrieben) – nicht als Religion im westlichen Sinne. Das arabische Wort „Deen“ bedeutet weit mehr als das Wort „Religion“. Wie wir alle wissen, besteht eine Religion im Glauben an Gott und dessen Verehrung. Der Islam ist jedoch weit mehr als das. Ja, das gehört zwar dazu, aber der Islam umfasst noch sehr viel mehr.
Zunächst einmal ist der Islam eine umfassende Lebensweise. Er ist ein Verhaltenskodex für das Leben. Für alles gibt es eine richtige und eine falsche Vorgehensweise. Zudem leitet sich die gesamte islamische Rechtsauffassung von Allah, dem Islam und Mohammed ab. Ein Mann genießt hohes Ansehen, wenn er die Lebensweise und die Gewohnheiten des Propheten nachahmt. Das ist der Grund, warum sich so viele Muslime – insbesondere die gläubigen – lange Bärte wachsen lassen und den Schnurrbart stutzen; genau so hat es ihr Prophet getan. Muslime wissen sehr viel über ihren Propheten: wie er lebte, wie er aß, wie er andere behandelte usw. Hinzu kommt die Forderung nach völliger Unterwerfung unter Allah und absolutem Gehorsam ihm gegenüber. Für einen wahren Muslim gibt es kein „Herauspicken“ einzelner Aspekte; er oder sie muss das Ganze annehmen. — © Mark Alexander

The police on Sunday evening shot and killed the man suspected of killing a woman and injuring 29 other people near a Berlin gay Pride celebration after he charged at officers with a weapon, the German authorities said.
The man, a 21-year-old German citizen with a family migration history from Lebanon, had been the subject of a protracted nationwide manhunt since the Saturday evening attack. The suspect used a rented van and what appeared to be a machete in the attack, which German officials called an act of Islamist terrorism.
In a brief statement, the police said they had tracked the suspect to an area in a western corner of the city where residents maintain large garden patches. After officers shot him, emergency responders tried to revive him, but he died at the scene, the police said.
The authorities said their investigation into the attack was continuing, even after the death of the man they had singled out as their prime suspect. Der Kontrast könnte härter nicht sein. Ein ausgelassenes Fest, Hunderttausende Menschen feierten am Sonnabend bei schönstem Sommerwetter den Christopher Street Day in Berlin. Eine Stadt voller Regenbogenflaggen und fröhlich tanzender Menschen. Berlin zeigte der Welt mal wieder sein buntestes Gesicht: weltoffen, schillernd, freizügig, queer. Um kurz nach 22 Uhr war diese Welt eine andere.
Ein Anschlag mitten ins Herz der Regenbogen-Hauptstadt. Noch in der Nacht zu Sonntag verdichteten sich die Hinweise, dass es wohl kein Unfall war. Ein mutmaßlich islamistischer Täter raste mit einem weißen Mini-Transporter in die Menge. Eine Frau starb, 29 weitere wurden teilweise schwer verletzt.
Alles deutet auf einen bewussten Anschlag hin. Ein Anschlag auf den Ort, an dem Berlin die Freiheit feiert, wie nirgendwo sonst. Wo Menschen aus aller Welt kommen, weil sie hier genau so sein können, wie sie sind. Dafür ist Berlin bekannt, geliebt, geachtet.
Und von manchen: verachtet.

Der Westen hat sich im Umgang mit dem Islam und dem Islamismus in eine schwierige Lage gebracht. Eigentlich gibt es so etwas wie Islamismus gar nicht; es gibt nur den Islam. In Wirklichkeit ist ein Islamist ein Muslim, der die korrekten und strengen Regeln des Islam genau befolgt. Nur Nicht-Muslime neigen dazu, von Islamismus zu sprechen; Muslime verwenden diesen Begriff im Allgemeinen nicht. Um es sich einfacher zu machen, haben sich westliche Menschen diese falsche Unterscheidung zwischen den beiden Begriffen ausgedacht. Natürlich gibt es liberale Muslime. Doch sehr oft legen diese liberal gesinnten Muslime ihre früheren liberalen Ansichten ab, sobald sie religiös werden. Berlin benennt Straße am Reichstag um: Dorotheenstraße wird Yad Vashem-Straße

Die betreffende Strecke verläuft zwischen Ebertstraße und Wilhelmstraße in unmittelbarer Nähe des Reichstagsgebäudes und führt beidseitig am Jakob-Kaiser-Haus des Deutschen Bundestages vorbei, in dem Büros von Bundestagsabgeordneten untergebracht sind.
