The Final Moments of Benito Mussolini
The very unpleasant end of a tyrant and his regime. Such unpleasantness comes to them all. Not always in the same way, of course, but always unpleasant and usually cruel as the people determine to seek their revenge. — © Mark Alexander

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy Given Five-year Sentence after Libya Case | BBC News
Sep 25, 2025 | ormer French president Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy in a case related to millions of euros of illicit funds from the late Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.
The Paris criminal court acquitted him of all other charges, including passive corruption and illegal campaign financing.
The ruling means he will spend time in jail even if he launches an appeal, which Sarkozy says he intends to do.
Speaking after Thursday's hearing, the 70-year-old, who was president from 2007-12, said the verdict was "extremely serious for rule of law".

Not a Case Any Reasonable Prosecutor Would Bring’: Ex-U.S. Attorney on Comey
Surely! Surely! Americans who voted for this sh** must by now be sorry that they weren’t politically aware enough, intelligent enough, to refrain from putting their cross on the ballot paper next to Trump’s name! What a SHITSHOW these IGNORANT voters have made of their once GREAT country. From here on in, the trajectory can only be one way for America: down! Harken! The abyss is calling out for you! — © Mark Alexander

Justice Dept. Official Pushes Prosecutors to Investigate George Soros’s Foundation
THE NEW YORK TIMES: The directive suggests department leaders are following orders from the president, a major break from decades of past practice meant to insulate the agency from political interference.
A senior Justice Department official has instructed more than a half dozen U.S. attorney’s offices to draft plans to investigate a group funded by George Soros, the billionaire Democratic donor whom President Trump has demanded be thrown in jail.
The official’s directive, a copy of which was viewed by The New York Times, goes as far as to list possible charges prosecutors could file, ranging from arson to material support of terrorism. The memo suggests department leaders are following orders from the president that specific people or groups be subject to criminal investigation — a major break from decades of past practice meant to insulate the Justice Department from political interference.
The move is the latest instance of the Justice Department moving against Mr. Trump’s perceived enemies.
Over the weekend, the president urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to act quickly in seeking criminal charges against his longtime nemesis, the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey, and the New York attorney general, Letitia James, who has sued Mr. Trump and his businesses for hundreds of millions of dollars. Separate investigations into them are being conducted by federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia, and grand juries may soon be asked to vote on proposed indictments in those cases. » | Devlin Barrett | Reporting from Washington | Thursday, September 25, 2025
