Back to the Future of Brexit
One can but weep for this country! Brexit has put us into a fine old mess! Brexit has brought us impoverishment, no opportunities for economic growth, and nothing to look forward to. Britons’ rights as citizens have been stripped away, replacing them with a few feudal ‘rights’ as subjects of the King, and little else. Prior to that ridiculous, ill-thought-out Brexit, Britons had a decent future. They could move to any EU country and work there, start a business there, set up home there, avail themselves of free healthcare there, travel visa-free there, and for those who love their pets, because of the ‘EU Pet Travel Scheme’, they could even move there with their beloved dogs, cats, or ferrets! Now, just to travel there involves all manner of hurdles to jump. One could call it the steeplechase of the century!
One of the main architects of Brexit and all the troubles and travails that Brexit brought with it is, of course, that infamous, self-serving, self-enriching snake oil salesman, Nigel Farage. And how the naïve and ill-informed have been taken in by him! They have even gone and cast their vote for him in recent local elections, voting for the very man who has made them poorer! Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas, this was it! — © Mark Alexander

Rob Groves: Reform UK, Bringing the USA’s Project 2025 to Britain
Excellent synopsis. Reform UK is a motley bunch of frauds. It is to be hoped that they never get anywhere near the actual levers of power. — © Mark Alexander

Farage: The MAGA Grifter Who Will Win Thursday's Elections
May 2, 2026 | On Thursday 7th May, Britain votes — and I'm giving you my full prediction, party by party, from worst to best.
The Liberal Democrats, despite their integrity and 72 MPs, will come last — because being decent isn't enough when you're invisible.
The Conservatives aren't far ahead, still paying the price for 14 years of economic mismanagement.
Labour's Keir Starmer faces a reckoning that could force him out of Downing Street sooner than anyone expects.
The Greens are surging — popular, photogenic leadership [really???] — but try naming a single Green policy.
And then there's Reform UK. I devote the majority of this video to Reform UK — because what's happening isn't just another British political story. It's the MAGA franchise arriving in Britain. Farage's movement, Trump's playbook, same energy — and it's working.
This is my honest, unfiltered prediction of how Thursday plays out — and what it means for the future of British politics.
Sadly, a pretty accurate assessment. The thought of Farage preening his feathers like a peacock, which he will, is vomit-inducing! — © Mark Alexander

Steve Schmidt: MAGA Is Rotting from the Inside Out
Mr Schmidt: It hasn’t been a very good year for the rest of the world, either! Trump and his chumps have dumped on the whole wide world! We are all licking our wounds. All because Americans have poor judgment when it comes to picking their presidents. Their penchant for geriatrics comes with a very high price tag! — © Mark Alexander

Iron Will: Australia’s Richest Person Counts the Cost as Court Orders She Share Mining Millions with Rival Family
THE GUARDIAN: Gina Rinehart, who’s been called Australia’s ‘female Donald Trump’, has long fought claims from the family of her father’s business partner – as well as her own children

Australia’s richest person is reeling after a landmark court decision found her company must pay royalties worth hundreds of millions of dollars to a rival mining dynasty.
Gina Rinehart, a multibillionaire with political connections in both the White House and the Australian parliament, has been described by members of the US conservative movement as “a female Donald Trump”. The 72-year-old, who inherited her father’s iron ore empire in Australia’s Pilbara region, has fought multiple claims against the family company Hancock Prospecting that were first launched in 2010.
On Wednesday, in the Western Australian supreme court, Justice Jennifer Smith found that Wright Prospecting was entitled to its claim for a half share of royalties coming from one of the region’s largest projects – Hope Downs.
Hope Downs is a joint venture between Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting and exports about 45m tonnes of iron ore annually from Australia’s north-west each year.
But Hancock Prospecting had a partial victory, with the court rejecting Wright Prospecting’s claim for an equity stake in other mining assets.
The dispute harks back to a business partnership struck in the 1950s by mining prospectors Lang Hancock and Peter Wright. The pair had been school friends and together established a company called Hanwright which was responsible for pegging out vast tenements of iron ore-rich deposits in the region’s Hamersley Range. » | Sarah Martin | Saturday, April 18, 2026

Steve Schmidt: The Dangerous Alliance between MAGA and Europe’s Far Right
It is to be hoped that Hungarian voters find it within themselves to kick that repugnant, objectionable, loathsome and corrupt Viktor Orbán OUT OF OFFICE. People like Viktor Orbán, JD Vance, and Donald Trump are so odious. They seem to be competing with each other to steal the ‘crown of odiousness’! Fact is, when it comes to odiousness, it would be difficult to slip a cigarette paper between them! — © Mark Alexander
