“An Israeli student whose identity and personal info was sold online for a bounty has not left his dorm room in weeks out of fear due to death threats,” said Talia Khan, the president of MIT’s Israel Alliance.

Der erste ausländische Vertreter, der nach dem Volksaufstand in den Iran kam, war Palästinenserführer Jassir Arafat.

Zu Zeiten des Schahs und vor Gründung der Islamischen Republik waren der Iran und Israel befreundete Länder und Verbündete der USA im Kalten Krieg. Gemeinsam bildeten sie eine Front gegen den arabischen Nationalismus, der im Mittleren Osten an Einfluss gewann. Ihre strategische Partnerschaft wurde durch eine weitreichende wirtschaftliche und sicherheitspolitische Zusammenarbeit untermauert. Mit der Islamischen Revolution 1979 endete diese freundschaftliche Beziehung. Der erste ausländische Vertreter, der nach dem Volksaufstand in den Iran kam, war Palästinenserführer Jassir Arafat. In der diplomatischen Vertretung Israels zog die palästinensische Botschaft ein. Die Geiselnahme in der US-Botschaft besiegelte schließlich den Bruch mit der westlichen Welt. Bald schon kollidierten die Ambitionen und Interessen Teherans mit denen Washingtons und Tel Avivs. 1982 kam es zum Eklat, als Israel im Libanon einmarschierte – eine Verkettung unvorhersehbarer Umstände. Israel verfolgte die Absicht, die Entstehung eines neuen, christlich dominierten Libanon zu unterstützen, der zu einem Verbündeten werden könnte. Auf diese Weise wollte Tel Aviv den Palästinensern Einhalt gebieten, die den Libanon zum Brückenkopf für ihre Guerilla-Aktionen gemacht hatten. Tatsächlich aber geriet dadurch das strategische Gleichgewicht des Mittleren Ostens ins Wanken. Wenig später wurde ein Bombenanschlag auf das Hauptquartier der israelischen Armee im südlibanesischen Tyros verübt. Israel begriff zunächst nicht, wer hinter dem Angriff steckte. Später stellte sich heraus, dass es der erste Selbstmordanschlag einer neuen schiitischen Revolutionsbewegung gewesen war. Durch ihre Einmischung in einem tief und vielfach gespaltenen Land hatten die Israelis eine religiöse Minderheit auf den Plan gerufen, die bis dahin als Randgruppe galt und kaum politisiert war: die Schiiten, marginalisiert und zahlreich. Die Islamische Republik Iran bot den militanten und politisch-religiös motivierten Schiiten ihre ideologische, logistische und militärische Unterstützung an. So entstand die Hisbollah, die zunächst im Libanon und dann in der ganzen Region Fuß fasste. In this video, Robert Spencer states that women need to have more babies. ‘Goddamm’ right they do! Feminism has been a curse on the West. Why? Because it has taken women out of the home and into the workspace. Increasingly, it is also giving them equal pay. That is all well and good, of course; but it comes at a high cost to society. It cannot be denied that the more equal women’s pay is, the greater the opportunity cost of a woman staying at home. Not entering the workplace becomes ever more expensive. And here’s the kicker: Unless a woman stays out of the workplace, she cannot give birth to more babies. Motherhood is a demanding job; it is also the most important job that a woman can do. In my opinion, it is far too underrated. As prestigious a job being a CEO might be, how can it compare in importance to society with the raising of the next generation? Well-behaved, well-educated, well-dressed, well-socialised citizens, citizens who can take their place in society, are such an asset to our societies and our economies.

Gays have virtually no impact on the birthrate. That’s because gays have always existed; they have existed since time immemorial. Yes, a gay man can procreate. But what use is that if that man/woman is locked into an unhappy marriage? In an unhappy marriage, neither partner is happy. Such scenarios eventually lead to divorces.

So, in a few words, and to cut this complicated story short, if Westerners want the West to survive and thrive, we need to change the way society is set up. Further, dumping children into kindergarten and day care centres is hardly the right way to bring up children. Moreover, if we want Islam to become dominant, just carry on doing things the way we are doing things. This will almost guarantee the eventual dominance and influence of Islam on our culture and societies.– © Mark Alexander

Als die Konservativen 1980 mit Ronald Reagan wieder an die Macht kamen, setzten sie dem Liberalismus ein jähes Ende. Die Deregulierung wurde vorangetrieben, die Steuersätze gesenkt. Erneut wurden „die Reichen immer reicher“ – genau wie in den Jahren vor dem Börsencrash von 1929. Gleichzeitig beflügelte die Entwicklung der Rechenleistung von Mikroprozessoren das Silicon Valley und ermöglichte die Herstellung kleinerer Computer. Die Mikroinformatik wurde zum neuen Trend. HP und später auch Apple verbreiteten den Mythos des visionären Computergenies, das in seiner Garage klein anfängt und sich zum millionenschweren Unternehmer hocharbeitet. Gleichzeitig entwickelte sich im Silicon Valley eine neue Kultur: Arbeitnehmerfreundliches Management im Gegenzug für ein grenzenloses Engagement der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, die dank Aktienoptionen auf ein Vermögen hoffen konnten. 1995 zog das Internet weltweit in die Haushalte ein und beschleunigte die Kapitalanhäufung fünf mächtiger Firmen: Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon und Microsoft, auch GAFAM genannt. Die Entmonopolisierung gehörte der Vergangenheit an. Bill Gates und eine Handvoll weiterer Milliardäre vermarkteten sich als spendierfreudige Philanthropen, die den übrigen Superreichen als Deckmantel dienten. Sie wussten ihre Rechte genauestens anzuwenden und entkamen so einem Großteil ihrer Steuerpflicht. Amerikanische Großkonzerne setzten außerdem auf ein neues Steuerparadies, den US-Bundesstaat Delaware. Selbst die Finanzkrise 2008 zog keine Regulierung der Finanzmärkte nach sich und 2010 entschied der Supreme Court, dass es für „unabhängige Wahlkampfausgaben“ keine Grenzen gebe: Die Demokratie wurde so erneut zum Jagdrevier der Millionäre. Die Figur des visionären Genies aus dem Silicon Valley ebnete den Weg für ein neues Kapitel in der Geschichte des Kapitalismus – leider ohne jeden Profit für die Staatskassen. Aber um ihre Position als Supermacht zu bewahren und ihr Investitionsvermögen zu sichern, brauchen die USA Steuereinnahmen. Geschröpft wurden und werden letztendlich vor allem Kleinunternehmen und die Mittelschicht.

Die Großindustriellen setzten die Mechanismen der Wirtschaft mit Naturgesetzen gleich und bauten auf deren Selbstheilungskräfte. Roosevelts "New Deal" sahen sie als Schikane. Der Erfolg dieser Politik ist aus heutiger Sicht umstritten ...

Das Paradies der Millionäre ging mit dem Börsenkrach von 1929 und der darauffolgenden Depression zugrunde. Der interventionistische „New Deal“ des 1932 gewählten Präsidenten Franklin D. Roosevelt war für die um Lösungen verlegenen Wirtschaftsgrößen zunächst ein willkommenes Programm. Sie stimmten der Gründung öffentlicher Unternehmen zur Senkung der Arbeitslosigkeit zu und ließen sich auf Gehaltsverhandlungen mit den Gewerkschaften ein. Der Konsens währte jedoch nicht lange, denn die Industriellen verdächtigten Roosevelt, den Kapitalismus dauerhaft regulieren zu wollen. Sie beschuldigten den Präsidenten der Tyrannei. Die „New Dealer“ bezeichneten sich als Antwort darauf fortan als Liberale, ihre Gegner als Konservative. Roosevelt wurde trotz der gegen ihn ausgerichteten Propagandakampagnen der Konservativen 1936 wiedergewählt. Aber der „New Deal“ war teuer. Da nur die Oberschicht einkommensteuerpflichtig war, lautete die Parole der Liberalen nun: Die Reichen schröpfen! Doch Letztere hatten mit Spendengeldern ein Steuerschlupfloch gefunden: Die Staatskasse blieb leer und der „New Deal“ verlief kurz vor Beginn des Zweiten Weltkriegs im Sande. Zu Kriegsbeginn konnte die amerikanische Rüstungsbranche nur 25 Prozent der Aufträge bedienen, woraufhin entschieden wurde, die Einkommenssteuerpflicht auf die gesamte Bevölkerung auszudehnen. Der Staat erlebte infolgedessen einen gehörigen wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung. Außerdem erkannten die Unternehmer ausgerechnet in der Atombombe die Möglichkeit einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen Privatsektor, Wissenschaft und Staat. 1945 produzierten die USA die Hälfte des weltweiten Reichtums. Trotz eines fortan streng regulierten Kapitalismus war das Wachstum so enorm, dass die Reichen die neuen Spitzensteuersätze hinnahmen.

Nov 3, 2023 | Die USA waren schon vor 120 Jahren ein Paradies für Millionäre: Unternehmer wie John D. Rockefeller häuften ohne nennenswerte Steuerpflicht enorme Vermögen an. Gegen die Ausbeutung der Arbeiter bildete sich eine progressive Bewegung. Der Einfluss der Superreichen auf die Politik erschwerte jedoch soziale Fortschritte. Der Konflikt spitzte sich immer weiter zu.

Kapitalismus basierte auch in den USA von Anfang an auf individuellem Profit und unternehmerischer Freiheit. Ein Großteil des Reichtums ist in einem solchen System häufig nur unter wenigen Nutznießern aufgeteilt. Um zumindest etwas zu regulieren, wurden auch dort schließlich Aufsichtsgremien geschaffen, Monopole verboten und Reiche besteuert. Seit etwa 40 Jahren läuft der US-amerikanische Kapitalismus jedoch mehr und mehr aus dem Ruder. In sämtlichen Branchen haben sich sehr wohl Monopole herausgebildet, 722 Milliardäre und 22 Millionen Millionäre zahlen ganz legal weniger Steuern als ihre Angestellten. Die USA waren bereits vor 120 Jahren ein Paradies für Millionäre. Es gab keine gesetzlichen Regelungen, und so konnte John D. Rockefeller, der erste Milliardär der Weltgeschichte, völlig ungehindert ein Ölimperium aufbauen. Der Stahlmagnat Andrew Carnegie rechtfertigte seine massive Anhäufung von Reichtum mit Philanthropie und seinen Spenden für ausgewählte Projekte. Der Banker J. P. Morgan wiederum fungierte in Eigenregie als Zentralbank der Vereinigten Staaten. Die Demokratie wurde von den Millionären beherrscht und ermöglichte so den Fortbestand einer der rücksichtslosesten Formen des Kapitalismus. Zur gleichen Zeit bemühte sich eine progressive Strömung darum, das Land aus den Fängen der Superreichen zu befreien und Rockefellers Monopol wurde trotz seines erbitterten Widerstands zerschlagen. Kurz vor Beginn des Ersten Weltkriegs wurde die Kinderarbeit verboten und eine Reichensteuer eingeführt. Doch Spendengelder waren davon ausgeschlossen und wurden zum Steuerschlupfloch der Millionäre. Der amerikanische Kapitalismus entwickelte sich weiter: Das Ludlow-Massaker bedeutete das Ende blutiger Streikniederschlagungen. Henry Ford folgte dem Beispiel eines New Yorker Schuhherstellers und zahlte seinen Arbeitern das Doppelte des damaligen Durchschnittsgehalts. Die Folge war eine gesteigerte Produktivität seines Unternehmens. In Tennessee eröffnete ein Lebensmittelhändler den ersten Selbstbedienungsladen und legte den Grundstein für die heutigen Supermärkte. Mit dem Ende des Ersten Weltkriegs übernahmen die Millionäre jedoch zunächst wieder die Kontrolle über ihr Paradies.

THE NEW YORK TIMES: China’s state-run media has blamed the United States for deepening the crisis, while perpetuating tropes of Jewish control of American politics.

As the Israel-Hamas conflict intensifies, raising the prospect of a wider war, China has stepped up efforts to pitch itself as a neutral broker for Mideast peace.

Beijing’s top diplomat called his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts on Monday, urging restraint. A Chinese envoy is traveling in the Middle East, pledging to help avert a wider war. At the United Nations on Wednesday, China vetoed a resolution on the war that did not call for a cease-fire.

But even as China seeks to turn down the temperature diplomatically, a surge of antisemitism and anti-Israeli sentiment is proliferating across the Chinese internet and state media, undermining Beijing’s efforts to convey impartiality. China has already come under pressure from the United States and Israel for its refusal to condemn Hamas for its Oct. 7 attack that started the war.

On China’s heavily censored internet, inflammatory speech critical of Israel is rampant, with commenters seemingly emboldened by that refusal. And China’s state-run media is seizing on the conflict to accuse the United States of turning a blind eye to Israeli aggression, while perpetuating tropes of Jewish control of American politics.

THE NEW YORK TIMES: The city was on lockdown early Thursday with an “armed and dangerous” man at large. At least seven people were killed in two shootings, the sheriff said.

Residents of multiple towns in southern Maine were under shelter-in-place orders early Thursday, as the police continued an overnight hunt for a man suspected of killing at least seven people in shootings at a bowling alley and a bar.

The gunman walked into the bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday evening and fatally shot at least seven people before moving on to a nearby bar, according to Sheriff Eric Samson of Androscoggin County. The total number of people killed and wounded was unclear. Mr. Samson said he did not know the number of casualties from the shooting at the bar.

Law enforcement officials said early Thursday that the gunman was still at large, and they released information about a man they described as a “person of interest.” They said they were searching for Robert R. Card, 40, of Bowdoin, Maine. On social media, law enforcement agencies said Mr. Card “should be considered armed and dangerous” and posted a photo of a man in a brown, hooded sweatshirt carrying a military-style semiautomatic rifle.

Local officials closed roads asked residents to stay home. What Hamas did was brutal and inexcusable, about that there is no doubt, but if the world wants this atrocity and massacre never to be repeated, then we have to look at the root-causes of the massacre. What that disgusting Hamas organisation did was a symptom of long-term injustices and the sequestration of land which Palestinians believe belonged to them. Even if this is not believed to be true by Israelis and others, the Palestinians (and Arabs) do believe it to be true; therefore, this subject matter deserves to be discussed and analysed IN FULL, and WITH IMPUNITY. If we don't discuss and analyse this heinous crime, this ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians will NEVER be resolved. Further, that law students should have their careers destroyed for having opinions diametrically opposed to CEOs and Ivy League professors is preposterous. Moreover, to go down this route in a so-called democracy augurs badly for the future of freedom in the USA. – © Mark Alexander
