Run by religious or pseudo-scientific communities, these therapies promise to fix a supposedly "deviant sexual orientation" and to change a person’s inner identity. Through social, familial, and religious pressure, Mathew, Jordan and Lucas all signed up for these therapies and went through hell: Isolation, sequestration, humiliation, food deprivation, physical and psychological violence.
Today, a political combat is underway to halt these therapies and to acknowledge the victims. This is likely to be a long process, given that such practices are still allowed in 41 states and have the backing of the Trump administration.

He was poisoned by methanol in 2024, and has since joined a UK government campaign to raise awareness of the risks that turned his life upside down.

Methanol is a highly toxic industrial strength form of alcohol that can sometimes be found in counterfeit, illegally produced or contaminated alcoholic drinks.
As little as 30ml - about a single shot - can be fatal to an adult, while smaller amounts can cause serious and permanent harm, including blindness.

Six people were killed when a fire broke out at a construction site in central Brussels on Tuesday, according to the law enforcement authorities investigating the cause of the blaze.
The dead have not yet been identified, the authorities said. The building was not yet permanently occupied, and only construction workers were believed to be on site.
Firefighters were alerted to the fire on the second floor of the Oxy building at 7:50 a.m. local time, said Walter Derieuw, a spokesman for the fire department of Brussels.

On the 136th day of his war against Iran, President Trump came up with a new plan. He would impose tolls on ships traversing the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for protecting them from Iranian forces.
But that was then. On Day 137, he had another new plan. No tolls after all.
Mr. Trump’s 180-degree reversal on Tuesday in the face of protests from his Arab allies who were not so excited about paying tolls reflected how adrift he seems to be in prosecuting his war against Iran. What was supposed to be a clean four-to-six-week operation is now in its messy 20th week. Improvisation and impulse are not working.

Je ne suis pas un adepte du socialisme, et encore moins du communisme ; mais ce que Donald Trump inflige à Cuba et au peuple cubain, ce peuple qui souffre depuis si longtemps, est non seulement d'une cruauté et d'une acharnement extrêmes, mais constitue une honte absolue.
