Im Buch beschreibt Giuffre, wie aus ihrer Sicht alles begann, sie hineingezogen wurde in ein Netz aus Menschenhandel, Missbrauch und Abhängigkeiten. Es ist die Geschichte von Mächtigen, die Menschen wie Ware behandeln und das als Selbstverständlichkeit betrachten. Prinz Andrew, den Giuffre in ihrem Buch abermals beschuldigt, Teil des Netzwerks von Epstein zu sein, hat bereits vor ein paar Tagen alle royalen Titel abgelegt – mit Ausnahme des Prinzen-Titels. LE FIGARO : Le spectaculaire cambriolage au Louvre, le 19 octobre dernier, a remis en mémoire un épisode oublié et plus funeste encore : la vente délibérée des bijoux des souverains français par la IIIe République en 1887.
La France entière semble s’être rappelée l’existence des diamants de la Couronne au moment où leur éclat ternissait, sans doute pour toujours. Le cambriolage retentissant qui a eu lieu dimanche 19 octobre au Louvre a soustrait en effet huit joyaux à cette étincelante collection abritée depuis 1889 dans la galerie d’Apollon, sans compter la couronne de l’impératrice Eugénie, retrouvée endommagée. Le choix des objets – des parures de souveraines du XIXe siècle constellées de milliers de diamants et de dizaines de saphirs et d’émeraudes – signe l’intention des auteurs du vol de les dessertir pour en écouler les pierres. Le Régent et autres diamants de grosse taille, eux, n’ont pas quitté leur vitrine.
La vérité que personne ne veut s’avouer, c’est que ces bijoux étaient mal aimés. Malgré la minutieuse restauration de la galerie d’Apollon et, ironie du sort, l’installation de trois nouvelles vitrines blindées en 2019, le public semblait bouder notre salle du trésor – pourtant l’équivalent de la Schatzkammer du palais de la Hofburg à Vienne ou de la chambre aux joyaux de la Tour de Londres, curieusement mieux connues des Français. Certes, ces vingt-trois bijoux n’étaient que les somptueux débris d’un trésor jadis pléthorique. Oct 21, 2025 | Nicolas Sarkozy has become the first French ex-president to go to jail, as he starts a five-year sentence for conspiring to fund his election campaign with money from late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
Not since World War Two Nazi collaborationist leader Philippe Pétain was jailed for treason in 1945 has any French ex-leader gone behind bars.
Sarkozy, who was president from 2007-2012, has appealed against his jail term at La Santé prison, where he will occupy a cell roughly measuring 9 sq m (95 sq ft) in the jail's isolation wing.

Oct 21, 2025 | The co-writer of Virginia Giuffre's memoir has said it would be a mistake to think "the fetishisation of young girls" died with Jeffrey Epstein, as she detailed how Prince Andrew could still help with the investigation.
Speaking to ITV News, Amy Wallace, who helped write the book, said she had "no doubt" about the truth of the allegations Giuffre made about the prince in it.
The book, titled Nobody's Girl, details Ms Giuffre's life and her interactions with Prince Andrew, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

There is a strand running through Nobody’s Girl – a memoir by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who died by suicide in April this year – in which the activist and survivor of Jeffrey Epstein grapples with something more insidious than abuse. “I know it is a lot to take in,” she writes after a gruelling early passage detailing how she was sexually abused as a child. “But please don’t stop reading.” After recounting the first time Epstein allegedly forced her to have sex with one of his billionaire friends, she writes, “I need a breather. I bet you do too.”
Throughout the book, Giuffre beguiles, apologises and cheerfully breaks the fourth wall in an effort to soften the distaste she assumes her story will trigger. Make no mistake: this is a book about power, corruption, industrial-scale sex abuse and the way in which institutions sided with the perpetrator over his victims. Epstein hanged himself in prison while awaiting trial in 2019 and Ghislaine Maxwell, his co-conspirator, is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, outcomes largely enabled by Giuffre’s testimony. En bonne place sur l’agenda du dirigeant syrien figurait d’ailleurs une requête déjà formulée auprès des autorités russes au début de l’année : le retour en Syrie de l’ex-président, qui a trouvé refuge à Moscou, où il avait été «exfiltré» après avoir été chassé du pouvoir par M. Al-Chareh à la tête d’une coalition islamiste.
