THE TELEGRAPH: Revelations made amid ongoing wrangling between the monarch and his disgraced younger brother
The King has severed the Duke of York’s “£1 million-a-year” allowance in recent weeks, it has emerged.
In an updated biography about the monarch, author Robert Hardman revealed that King Charles has instructed his Keeper of the Privy Purse to “sever” his brother’s living allowance.
The new chapters of Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, serialised by the Daily Mail, includes a palace insider confirming that “the Duke is no longer a financial burden on the King”.
The news comes amid ongoing wrangling between the monarch and his disgraced younger brother about his living situation in the 30-bedroom Royal Lodge home in Windsor Great Park.
The King, who was said to be losing patience with Prince Andrew in the early summer, was previously understood to have threatened to withdraw the funding that allows Andrew to keep living in the house, which has extensive upkeep requirements.
The Duke’s annual allowance – believed to be upwards of £1 million – has reportedly now been cut by the monarch, as have all payments towards his seven-figure private security detail. » | India McTaggart, Royal Correspondent | Friday, November 1, 2024

Piers Morgan Says Royal Family Shocked at King Charles' Cancer - "2 Days Ago Everything Seemed Fine"
Feb 5, 2024 | Piers Morgan says he believes the news of King Charles' cancer diagnosis has come as shock to everyone, including the Royal Family.
The type of cancer has not been disclosed, but it was discovered during the King's recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.
The King informed close family members, including his sons Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as his three siblings. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has already spoken to his father over the phone and is said to be flying into the UK in the coming days to see him. The public announcement was made at 6pm, leaving the world in shock and uncertainty.
Although the exact details of the diagnosis have not been revealed, it is clear that this is a serious situation. The King began regular treatments as an outpatient, following his recent procedure for an enlarged prostate. He will continue to undertake basic state duties from the Palace, such as his weekly meeting with the Prime Minister. However, all public engagements have been postponed for the duration of his treatment. It remains uncertain whether he will be able to fulfil major international trips planned for the coming months.
Piers Morgan is joined by TalkTV's Royal Editor Sarah Hewson, Royal biographer Tom Bower, broadcaster Andrew Neil, and Roya Nikkah, Royal Editor of The Sunday Times.

The Duchess of York has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer months after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A spokesperson for Sarah Ferguson, 64, said medics had removed a mole on her body, which tested as a malignant melanoma, during treatment for her cancer. Doctors are now working to establish whether it was caught early.
“Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York, has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” the spokesperson said. “Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analysed at the same time as the duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous.” » | Tom Ambrose | Sunday, January 21, 2024

Thousands Pay Tribute as Britain Says Final Farewell to Its Queen
THE NEW YORK TIMES: More than 100 world leaders, including President Biden, attended the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II, and Britons lined the streets for a procession that took her to her final resting place at Windsor Castle.

LONDON — Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest on Monday after a majestic state funeral that drew tens of millions of Britons together in a vast expression of grief and gratitude, as they bade farewell to a sovereign whose seven-decade reign had spanned their lives and defined their times.
It was the culmination of 10 days of mourning since the queen died on Sept. 8 in Scotland — a highly choreographed series of rituals that fell amid a deepening economic crisis and a fraught political transition in Britain — and yet everything about the day seemed destined to be etched into history.
Tens of thousands of people lined the route of the cortege past the landmarks of London. In Hyde Park, people watching the service on large screens joined in “The Lord’s Prayer” when it was recited at Westminster Abbey. Thousands more cheered, many strewing flowers in the path of her glass-topped hearse, as the queen’s coffin was driven to Windsor Castle, where she was buried next to her husband, Prince Philip.
“In this changing world, she was a pillar of the old world,” said Richard Roe, 36, who works in finance in Zurich and flew home for the funeral. “It’s nice to have something that’s stable and stands for good values.”
An unbroken thread of sadness ran through the day, but also an acute sense of uncertainty. The queen, who died at 96, was one of the last living links to World War II and the twilight of Britain’s imperial age. The country she embodied with such dignity has fundamentally changed. » | Mark Landler | Monday, September 19, 2022

UK Becoming a Police State as Government Talks Nonsense about 'Going for Growth'
As Liz Truss appoints her new right-wing government, the UK economy continues to suffer from the effects of Brexit.
The new Health Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Therese Coffey writes to staff asking them not to use the 'Oxford comma' whilst Kwasi Kwarteng announces that he is going to 'go for growth' by removing the limit on bankers' bonuses.
In Edinburgh a protester was forced to the ground and arrested by the police for shouting an insult at Prince Andrew, whilst another woman was arrested and is due to go to court for holding up an 'anti-monarchy' sign.
Truss is to borrow £130 billion in order to secure the massive windfall profits of energy companies. The taxpayer will repay this loan over the coming years.

Princess Anne’s Influence, and Workload, Rises in a Slimmed-Down Royal Family
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Often appearing at more than 400 events a year, Anne is likely to become even more central as a trusted adviser to her brother, the king.

LONDON — The day after she walked behind the coffin of her mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in London, Princess Anne flew to Glasgow in Scotland on Thursday to meet with city officials, accept condolences from Glaswegians and inspect wreaths left in honor of the sovereign, who died last week.
It was the kind of yeoman’s duty that Anne, now 72, has carried out, uncomplainingly, for decades. The only daughter of Elizabeth and the younger sister of King Charles III, Anne has famously been one of the hardest workers in the royal family, often logging more than 400 public events a year.
Owing to the laws of primogeniture, she is 16th in the line of succession to the throne. But that understates her influence in the royal family, where she is a trusted adviser to Charles, and her stature with the public, where her approval ratings have been higher than any of the surviving senior royals, save Prince William and his wife, Princess Catherine. » | Mark Landler | Thursday, September 15, 2022

Jeffrey Epstein Victims Condemn Prince Andrew’s Return to Public Life
THE GUARDIAN: Attorneys say duke’s reappearance following death of Queen could prove harmful for survivors of Epstein’s crimes

Since the death of the Queen on 8 September, Prince Andrew has returned to the public sphere.
The Duke of York’s prominence at events marking the death of his mother, such as the progress of her coffin through Edinburgh and London this week, is to be expected. Andrew is grieving personal loss during a national period of mourning.
But just months ago, amid fallout from his long and controversial association with the convicted sex traffickers Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, any public appearance at all would have seemed entirely unlikely.
The royal, now eighth in line to the throne, was stripped of his military patronages and use of the HRH title after he paid a financial settlement to Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of sexual assault, a claim he denied.
For attorneys who represented Epstein victims, and for other advocates for sex-crimes victims, Andrew’s sudden reappearance has seemed jarring. Some have said it could prove triggering for Epstein survivors, even if they never encountered Andrew. » | Victoria Bekiempis | Thursday, September 15, 2022
