Trump-BBC Feud: White House Willing to ‘Bankrupt’ the Broadcaster
Nov 14, 2025 | “When asked if they were willing to quote unquote ‘bankrupt the BBC’, the White House said emphatically yes."
The “war of words” continues as the White House states they are willing to bankrupt the BBC, says US reporter Anita Powell.
I don’t wish to be rude, but does this American reporter need that ring in her nose? It would be so much easier to listen to her speaking without it. I keep having to look away when she speaks. — © Mark Alexander

Family of Fisherman Killed in U.S. Military Strike Says It Wants Justice
THE NEW YORK TIMES: Colombia was a top U.S. ally in Latin America until the Trump administration began deadly strikes in international waters. Now, one family wants justice.
One day in mid-September, Alejandro Carranza, a Colombian fisherman who, his family said, had long plied the Caribbean in search of marlin and tuna, called his teenage daughter. He told her he was going fishing, she said, and would return in a few days.
He never made it back.
The day after he left, on Sept. 15, his family, fellow fishermen and Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro, say Mr. Carranza was killed in a U.S. military strike on his boat. The furor about what happened to him has ignited a feud over the huge U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean and the legality of the deadly attacks on 20 vessels since September.
“I never thought I would lose my father in this way,” said Cheila Carranza, 14, this week, holding back tears as she gazed at a photo of him on her phone in her grandmother’s crowded home, where she lives in one room with her mother and two siblings.
As the death toll climbs from U.S. strikes on boats in waters near Latin America, tensions are increasing with Colombia, which had long been a top U.S. ally in the region. So far, 20 U.S. strikes have killed at least 80 people. » | Simon Romero | Visuals by Federico Rios | Reporting from Santa Marta, Colombia | Thursday, November 13, 2025

BBC Apologises to Donald Trump but Refuses to Pay $1bn Compensation | BBC News
Nov 13, 2025 | The BBC has apologised to US President Donald Trump for a Panorama episode which spliced parts of a speech together, but rejected his demands for compensation.
The corporation also said it would not show the programme again. Lawyers for Trump have threatened to sue the BBC for $1bn (£759m) in damages unless the corporation issues a retraction, apologises and compensates him.
The apology comes after a second similarly edited clip, broadcast on Newsnight in 2022, was revealed by the Daily Telegraph.

1914 | Sainsbury's Ad | Christmas 2014
Nov 12, 2014 | Sainsbury’s Christmas advert, 1914. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion. Inspired by real events from 100 years ago.
2014’s Christmas ad from Sainsbury’s – Christmas is for sharing. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion, it commemorates the extraordinary events of Christmas Day, 1914, when the guns fell silent and two armies met in no-man’s land, sharing gifts – and even playing football together.
The chocolate bar featured in the ad was on sale at Sainsbury’s at that time. All profits went to The Royal British Legion and benefitted our armed forces and their families, past and present.
I have watched the new Christmas ads this year for several supermarkets, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s itself, and a few others, too, but in my humble opinion, although many of them are clever and good, none comes up to standard of this superb Christmas ad. This ad is the work of a genius! It is thoroughly moving and thoroughly meaningful. The advert encapsulates the TRUE meaning of Christmas, bringing two warring nations together. Showing us all what Christmas should be about: love and peace, caring and sharing. No ad could express these things better than this does. So often, when we look at Christmas ads today, all we can observe is froth and bubble and light-heartedness. — © Mark Alexander

Trump's Complicity in Epstein Crimes Revealed
How Americans could have been so stupid, so bereft of sound judgment, and so reckless as to re-elect a criminal and sex offender to the White House is beyond any normal and decent person’s ability to understand. America does not deserve its place as the hegemon of the world. FYI, I despise Trump; and you should too! — © Mark Alexander

Trump Won't Survive the 'Moral Indignation' of America | David Cay Johnston
Nov 13, 2025 | "Will that arouse moral indignation in America or not? I think it will."
The American public would "not be so embracing" if there were "irrefutable proof of serious misconduct" from Donald Trump, says Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, David Cay Johnston.
What a vile man Trump is, and what a ridiculous president he makes! Surely, I cannot be the only person who is sick to death of hearing his name mentioned. Personally, I am sick to death of this unsavoury character dominating the news, day after day after goddamned day! WTF did we find to talk about before he came on the scene? — © Mark Alexander

Trump’s Venezuela Strikes: US Ramps Up as UK Fears Legal Backlash
Nov 12, 2025 | “The UK has had some months to consider what to do about this, but has got increasingly uneasy.”
Trump’s increasing strikes on alleged Venezuelan drug traffickers prompted the UK to withdraw some intelligence sharing out of fear of being accused of being complicity in potentially illegal action, says Bronwen Maddox.
