Does Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) Care about New Khashoggi Revelations? l Inside Story
The CIA has reportedly concluded the order to kill Jamal Khashoggi was given by Crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
‘The Wall Street Journal’ says its obtained details of the highly classified CIA document. The newspaper says bin Salman sent at least 11 messages to his closest adviser, Saud al-Qahtani.
He reportedly supervised the so-called 'hit' team.
The CIA says al-Qahtani was in direct communication with the team’s leader in Istanbul - in the hours before and after the journalist was murdered.
The Saudi team was reportedly assembled from the Crown Prince's top security men in the Royal Guard.
The judgment on Bin Salman's likely culpability is based on the prince’s personal focus on Khashoggi who had criticised him - as well as the Prince authorising the same team to target other opponents.
The Saudi leader is reported to have told associates in August last year that if efforts failed to persuade Khashoggi to return to Saudi Arabia, he would be lured somewhere else.
Do the latest revelations make any difference because bin Salman continues to enjoy Donald Trump's support?

The archbishop of Buenos Aires is a Jesuit intellectual who travels by bus and has a practical approach to poverty: when he was appointed a cardinal, Bergoglio persuaded hundreds of Argentinians not to fly to Rome to celebrate with him but instead to give the money they would have spent on plane tickets to the poor. He was a fierce opponent of Argentinas decision to legalise gay marriage in 2010, arguing children need to have the right to be raised and educated by a father and a mother. He was created a cardinal by John Paul II on 21 February 2001.
He believes in contraception to prevent the spread of disease, is open to dialogue with other faiths, and is not facing questions over any abuse scandals. Nor is he facing questions over the handling of the Vatileaks scandal. He would make reforming the curia a priority. [Source: The Guardian]

THE HUFFINGTON POST: BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Argentina became the first Latin American nation to legalize gay marriage Thursday, granting same-sex couples all the legal rights, responsibilities and protections that marriage brings to heterosexuals.
The law's passage – a priority for President Cristina Fernandez's government – has inspired activists to push for similar laws in other countries, and a wave of gay weddings are expected in Buenos Aires. Some gay business leaders are predicting an economic ripple effect from an increase in tourism among gays and lesbians who will see Argentina as an even more attractive destination.
But it also carries political risks for Fernandez and her husband, former President Nestor Kirchner. The vote divided their governing coalition, and while gay rights have strong support in the capital, anti-gay feelings still run strong in much of Argentine society, where the vast majority of people are Roman Catholic.
"From today onward, Argentina is a more just and democratic country," said Maria Rachid, president of the Argentine Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender federation. The law "not only recognizes the rights of our families, but also the possibility of having access to health care, to leave a pension, to leave our assets to the people with whom we have shared many years of life, including our children," she said.
The 33-27 Senate vote was tallied shortly before dawn, after a marathon debate that touched on religion, ethics, the legacy of Argentina's dictatorship and the challenges of raising children. There were three abstentions. Since the lower house already approved it, the law takes effect within days.
Gays and lesbians who have already found Buenos Aires to be a welcoming place to live will likely rush to the altar, but same-sex couples from other countries will need to live in Argentina before becoming eligible, and the necessary residency documents can take months to obtain. THE GUARDIAN: Supporters of measure also take to streets to stage rallies in Buenos Aires and other cities
Thousands of demonstrators today gathered outside Argentina's congress in the capital, Buenos Aires, to protest against a proposal to legalise same-sex marriage.
Supporters of the measure also took to the streets in loud rallies in the city and across the country.
The House of Deputies has approved same-sex marriage and sent the legislation to the senate for consideration today.
The legislation – which would open the way to adoptions by same-sex couples – has been challenged by the Roman Catholic church and other religious groups.
The main slogan for the anti-legislation protest was: "Children have a right to a mother and a father".
The Argentine president, Cristina Fernández, has promised not to veto the measure if it reaches her desk.
Argentina remains mainly Catholic, but hostility to homosexuals has waned in the past decade – a trend mirrored across Latin America. >>> Associated Press | Wednesday, July 14, 2010
THE TIMES OF INDIA: BUENOS AIRES: Already known for having one of the most gay-friendly capitals in the world, Argentina is in the throes of a debate this week over granting the broadest marital protections to gay people in Latin America.
In what is expected to be a fierce discussion, Argentina's senate is scheduled to vote on Wednesday on a bill allowing gay people to wed. The proposed law has increased frictions between the Roman Catholic Church and the government of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, which is pushing the bill. >>> Alexei Barrionuevo, NYT News Service | Thursday, July 15, 2010

YNET NEWS: Moments after Islamic Republic's parliament approves president's nominee for defense minister, Ahmad Vahidi, accused of involvement in 1994 bombing of Jewish center in Argentina, new minister says Every [sic] move from the Zionist entity against Iran, will be met with powerful response'. Meanwhile, Official says willing to talk with world powers, but not about nuclear program
Iran's new Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi, accused of involvement in the 1994 bombing of a Jewish cultural center in Argentina, used his first moments in office to send a clear message to Israel that any attack on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities would yield a powerful response from Iran.
Vahidi is one of five prominent Iranians sought by Argentina in the bombing, which killed 85 people. He was the commander of a special unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guard known as the Quds Force at the time of the attack.
Iran's conservative-dominated parliament approved Vahidi's appointment on Thursday.
Following the approval of his appointment, Vahidi addressed the possibility that Israel may attack his nation's nuclear facilities: "Every move from the Zionist entity against Iran, will be met with a harsh and powerful response from Iran."
He said his great success in the Thursday's Majlis vote "attests to the anti-Zionist spirit of the Iranian parliament and people".
In response to objections voiced by heads of the Argentinean Jewish community, as well as Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, to his appointment. "The Zionist regime's propaganda always has a reverse effect on the Iranian regime," he said.
Regarding the West's suspicion of his involvement in the Buenos Aires bombing, he said, "Everyone knows that what was published was under pressure from the Zionist lobby."
Meanwhile, the Iranian parliament rejected in the vote the nominees for the energy, education, as well as welfare and social security ministries, two of them women.

TIMES ONLINE: A former Revolutionary Guard wanted by Interpol for allegedly masterminding Argentina’s worst terrorist attack looks set to become Iran’s new Defence Minister after Parliament signalled that it would confirm President Ahmadinejad’s provocative choice.
The development came as Saeed Jalili, Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, sounded a conciliatory note to the international community, saying that Tehran was ready to present a new package of proposals to foreign governments in the hope of restarting talks on its nuclear programme.
American officials said that they had yet to receive any official notification from Tehran and it remains unclear whether the new proposal is substantively different from the one rejected by Western powers last year. Efforts to restart talks have repeatedly floundered over Iran’s refusal to halt uranium enrichment.
Representatives of Britain, the United States, France, Germany, China and Russia will meet in Frankfurt to discuss tougher sanctions targeting Iran’s energy sector.
Mr Jalili said that Mr Ahmadinejad’s re-election had given the country a powerful mandate to put forward a new proposal — a surprising interpretation of the disputed victory that has thrown the country into its worst crisis since the Islamic revolution.
The power struggle triggered by the allegedly rigged elections has opened cracks even among the conservative establishment and led to unprecedented criticism of both Mr Ahmadinejad and the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. >>> Catherine Philp, Diplomatic Correspondent | Tuesday, September 01, 2009
BUENOS AIRES HERALD: Iran's parliament is signalling support for the hardline president's choice of new defence minister, a man Argentina says was involved in the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish centre that killed 85 people.
One member of parliament, Hadi Qavami, interrupted a speech by Defence Minister-designate Ahmad Vahidi to say he had initially opposed Vahidi's nomination but he changed his mind after "the Zionists' allegations" and would now vote for him.
The comment drew praise from other deputies in the assembly, who chanted "Death to Israel", state broadcaster IRIB reported.
Under parliamentary rules, two MPs can take the floor to voice opposition to a ministerial nominee, but no one did so in the case of Vahidi, a sign he will be backed by the legislature in a vote of confidence scheduled for Wednesday. >>> | Wednesday, September 02, 2009
