Unite the Kingdom Violence Was Political Thuggery, Not Free Speech | Former Met Chief

Sep 14, 2025 | “That’s not free speech — that is just thugs who are out to beat up people for no reason other than they’ve got different political views.”

The Metropolitan Police were overwhelmed in the Unite the Kingdom protests on Saturday, reiterating that there is no excuse for violence, says former chief superintendent Parm Sandhu.

Jesse Dollemore: Sinister Fox News Ghouls Lie to Their Audience about Charlie Kirk

Sep 11, 2025 | Jesse talks about Jesse Watters' wild comments about Charlie Kirk, in a deliberate effort to whitewash the hate, misogyny, and anti=Semitism from his actual record. Watters said this yesterday, "This is a man who touched an entire generation of Americans and electrified them and made them patriots. And this is not a controversial person. This is not a polarizing guy, a divisive person, a firebrand that he's being described as in the media. This is like a guy that you have a barbecue with at your summer house. This is the kind of guy, if you came back with your daughter, you'd say, Thank God we got a good one. He's a great athlete. He's a great person. He's a great Christian. You see his family out there. He had his kids not facing the photos because he wanted to protect them, because he knew how evil people were. So when he goes out to these college campuses, he's not provoking anybody. He's like Socrates."

Tommy Robinson Protesters Attack Police

THE TELEGRAPH: Tommy Robinson’s supporters “kicked and punched” police officers during one of Britain’s largest ever Right-wing rallies, the Metropolitan Police has claimed.

More than 100,000 people descended on central London for the “Unite the Kingdom” demonstration on Saturday. It was organised by Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

The Metropolitan Police said that as of 7.30pm, 25 people had been arrested for offences including affray, violent disorder, assaults and criminal damage.

In a statement, Asst Commissioner Matt Twist said: “Officers went into today’s operation knowing it would be busy and potentially challenging. They policed without fear or favour and approached engagement with all protesters positively.

“There is no doubt that many came to exercise their lawful right to protest, but there were many who came intent on violence. They confronted officers, engaging in physical and verbal abuse and making a determined effort to breach cordons in place to keep everyone safe.

“The violence [officers] faced was wholly unacceptable. Twenty-six officers were injured, including four seriously – among them [were] broken teeth, a possible broken nose, a concussion, a prolapsed disc and a head injury. » | Albert Tait, Oscar Jaeger in central London | Saturday, September 13, 2025

US Cash Turned Tommy Robinson into the Poster Boy of UK Far Right

THE OBSERVER: Outside the Old Bailey in 2018, a reinvented Tommy Robinson flashed his perfect new teeth to 2,000 diehard supporters at a “free Tommy” rally on a stage that blocked the street.

Robinson was suddenly flush with US funds that transformed him from rightwing agitator to self-styled “citizen journalist”, with slick videos and a vast social media following that helped his Unite the Kingdom demonstration draw 110,000 protesters to the streets of London on Saturday.

Money from one man – US tech billionaire Robert Shillman – ties Robinson to a Who’s Who of far-right influencers with millions of followers online. Among them was US conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was murdered in Utah last week.

Robinson’s reinvention for the social media age, which expanded his heavy focus on Muslims allegedly involved in child sexual abuse, was the result of his “Shillman fellowship” in 2017 to rightwing Canadian website Rebel Media – now called Rebel News – to the tune of about £85,000 over a year.

Shillman, who calls himself “Dr Bob”, citing his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is said to be a key figure in the transatlantic “counter-jihad” movement. He has invested in about 20 fellowships, working with Rebel News and rightwing thinktank the David Horowitz Freedom Center (DHFC), where the aim is “to promote freedom and to expose the lies of the radical left, the Islamist movement, and their allies in the media”.

Shillman “fellows” at Rebel News included Katie Hopkins, the former reality TV star, who made a documentary on “the mass slaughter of South Africa’s whites” in September 2018, long before the conspiracy theory was repeated by Donald Trump in the White House. The idea of a white genocide in South Africa based on attacks on farmers has been repeatedly debunked. Soon after, Rebel News brought in a new Shillman fellow, Laura Loomer, who is now a powerful conspiracy theorist with such proximity to Trump that she is referred to as the president’s “de facto national security adviser”. » | John Simpson, Home affairs editor | Sunday, September 14, 2025

Prepare for Revolution Now, Elon Musk Tells London Rally as Police Come Under Attack

THE OBSERVER: US tech billionaire calls for downfall of Labour government in speech to 110,000 marchers at Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom protest

As police in full riot gear fought to push back violent protesters on the fringes of Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally in London on Saturday, the richest man in the world told the crowd that they must prepare to fight.

Elon Musk’s image was beamed on to huge screens dotted along Whitehall as he spoke to Robinson and the gathered demonstrators, calling for “revolutionary government change”.

“Fight for your futures!” he told the crowd as the former leader of the English Defence League roused them.

Riot police were beaten and pelted with flares and bottles on the outskirts of the rally as an estimated 110,000 people flooded Whitehall and the surrounding streets.

Tech billionaire Musk’s appearance was a surprise. As he spoke to Robinson via video link, he painted a picture of violence-riven Britain, where people in villages were at risk of rape and murder and the government was trying to cover up crimes against children.

After saying that he wanted to see a UK where people “wake up and look forward to the future”, Musk went on: “We must have revolutionary government change for that to occur. And this is not ordinary-course-of-business sort of stuff.

“This really requires everyone to sort of marshal the people, to take charge and reform the government, and make sure the government is for the people, by the people.” » | John Simpson, Home affairs editor; James Tapper, News Reporter | Sunday, September 14, 2025

Trump Escalates Attacks on Political Opponents After Charlie Kirk’s Killing

THE NEW YORK TIMES: President Trump has promised to bring the killer to justice while using the moment to blame the left — and only the left — more broadly.

President Trump and his top advisers are escalating their attacks on their opponents in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s killing, placing the blame for political violence on Democrats alone and signaling a broad crackdown on critics and left-leaning institutions.

Mr. Trump blamed the “radical left” almost immediately after Mr. Kirk was shot, before the authorities had identified a suspect. He promised to find those responsible for political violence, as well as the “organizations that fund it and support it.”

Mr. Trump has an expansive view of those he deems radical, applying that term to almost all of his political adversaries. In his second term, Mr. Trump has pushed the boundaries of his authority to exact retribution on political opponents and institutions.

The death of Mr. Kirk, a popular young conservative activist, has added fuel to Mr. Trump’s campaign against his opponents. He and his administration have promised to bring the killer to justice while using the moment to blame the left — and only the left — more broadly.

Critics of the administration now worry that Mr. Kirk’s murder could be used as a pretext to move even more aggressively against those who speak out against Mr. Trump. » | Tyler Pager and Nick Corasaniti | Tyler Pager reported from Washington and Nick Corasaniti from New York. | Saturday, Sptember 13, 2025
