A Jewish and a Muslim cemetery were defiled with Nazi symbols and anti-migrant slogans in western Austria, police said Monday, just weeks after similar attacks on a refugee hostel and Jewish museum.

Unknown perpetrators desecrated graves and buildings with a red pen in the Jewish cemetery of the town of Hohenems, close to the Swiss border, some time between Saturday night and Sunday morning, a police spokeswoman told the APA news agency.

Swastikas Graffitied on Stanford University Fraternity House

ARUTZ SHEVA: Sigma Alpha Epsilon's fraternity house at Stanford was vandalized Saturday night with swastikas and other anti-Semitic slurs.

The fraternity house of the Stanford University chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) chapter was vandalized last weekend with swastikas, as well as various other anti-Semitic slurs and epithets.

Members of the fraternity discovered the graffiti as they returned to the house on Saturday night, the California university's Stanford Daily reported.

“We discovered a number of offensive symbols and messages spray-painted on the SAE house,” the president of Stanford’s SAE chapter said, declining to give his name so as not to be associated with "such hateful symbolism."

Mosque Daubed with Swastikas and 'EDL' Graffiti in Latest Racist Attack

EXPRESS: A MOSQUE in Worcestershire has been broken into and sprayed with graffiti, including swastikas and 'EDL', in the latest in a string of racist attacks.

Intruders broke into the mosque, which is still under construction, early this morning and used paint taken from builders' cabins on the site.

Amid fears of a backlash against the Muslim community following the Woolwich terror attack on Drummer Lee Rigby, racist graffiti was daubed over walls and at least six of the mosque's windows.

Offensive words and symbols with the initials EDL, NF, KKK and racist language were daubed across the new mosque in blue paint.

Due to an increase in "incidents happening nationally," an increased police presence has been implemented in the area.

Russian Opera Singer Withdraws from Bayreuth Festival over Swastika Tattoo
THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: A Russian opera singer has been forced to pull out of a celebrated music festival in German because he has a swastika and other Nazi symbols tattooed on his chest.

[Y]evgeny Nikitin, 38, who was once in a heavy metal band and got the body art done as a youth, withdrew from the Bayreuth festival, which celebrates Richard Wagner's work, after discussions with its organisers.

He was due to sing the lead role in The Flying Dutchman, the opening production, on Wednesday. The festival is particularly sensitive to Nazi associations because Wagner was an anti-Semite and his English daughter-in-law, Winifred Wagner, became friends with Adolf Hitler, who supported its performances under the Third Reich.

Mr Nikitin got the tattoos as a young man. He has a large swastika on the right side of his chest and on the left a "life rune", a symbol used by the SS Lebensborn project, which supported "racially pure" Aryan women.

In a statement released by the festival, the bass baritone said: "I was not aware of the extent of the irritation and offence these signs and symbols would cause, particularly in Bayreuth given the context of the festival's history. I had them done in my youth. It was a big mistake and I wish I'd never done it.

White Supremacists’ Rally Sparks Violent Clashes in Los Angeles
MAIL ON SUNDAY: A white supremacist group rallied against illegal immigration in Los Angeles city centre yesterday as hundreds of counter-protesters gathered in a tense standoff that resulted [in] several arrests, thrown rocks and police in riot gear.

Police officers stood between the white supremacists and counter-demonstrators on the south lawn of Los Angeles' City Hall, where about 50 members of the National Socialist Movement waved American flags and swastika banners for about an hour.

Five people, all of them counter-protesters, were arrested at the demonstration.

The white supremacists, many of them wearing flack helmets and black military fatigue uniforms, shouted 'Sieg Heil' before each of their speakers took the podium to taunt counter-protesters with racial, anti-Semitic and misogynistic epithets.

'We will meet you head on,' one of the white supremacists warned the crowd from behind several phalanxes of police in riot gear.

LE FIGARO: Des inconnus ont taggé sur les murs extérieurs de l'édifice situé à Castres des propos xénophobes et des croix gammées. Des pieds et des oreilles de cochon ont également été retrouvés.

La mosquée Bilal de Castres, dans le Tarn, a été profanée dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche par des inconnus. Après avoir franchi le portail de deux mètres, ils ont dessiné des croix gammées et écrit «Sieg heil» (slogan nazi, ndlr) sur les murs extérieurs de l'édifice, où ils ont également tracé des inscriptions telles que «La France aux Français» et «White power», a indiqué le président de l'Association islamique de Castres, Abdelmalek Bouregba, responsable du lieu de culte.

Des pieds de cochon ont également été suspendus à la poignée du portail. Sur la porte, des oreilles de cochon avaient été agrafées et des affiches placardées sur lesquelles étaient dessinés des drapeaux français, a-t-il précisé. Il a indiqué que les auteurs de la profanation n'avaient pas pénétré à l'intérieur de la mosquée. La police s'est rendue sur place pour procéder à des relevés d'empreintes, a ajouté Abdelmalek Bouregba, en précisant qu'il allait porter plainte.

Le responsable de la mosquée, ouverte en 1986 dans un ancien hangar et comportant une salle de prière de quelque 200 m2, s'est déclaré outré par la profanation, qu'il a qualifié d'«acte prémédité». «C'est un ensemble. Depuis un certain temps, on n'arrête pas de viser la communauté musulmane», a-t-il dénoncé, faisant notamment allusion à certains dérapages dans les débats sur l'identité nationale et au référendum pour l'interdiction de la construction de nouveaux minarets en Suisse.

LE FIGARO: Alors que la communauté musulmane célèbre l'Aïd-el-Kébir, environ 500 tombes musulmanes du cimetière Notre-Dame de Lorette ont été dégradées pour la troisième fois en deux ans.

Environ 500 tombes musulmanes du cimetière militaire Notre-Dame de Lorette, situé sur la commune d'Ablain-Saint-Nazaire, près d'Arras (Pas-de-Calais), ont été profanées dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi, a-t-on appris auprès des gendarmes. Il s'agit de la troisième profanation en deux ans dans ce cimetière militaire, le plus grand de France. «Des inscriptions (notamment des croix gammées) et des tags», ont été retrouvés, et ce sur la quai-totalité des 576 tombes du carré musulman. La majorité des tombes sont recouvertes par une lettre majuscule tracée à la peinture noire, quelques autres sont recouvertes d'une croix gammée. Five hundred war graves in the Muslim part of a military cemetery in northern France have been found sprayed with Nazi symbols on the day of an important Islamic feast.

A dozen or so Jewish tombstones were also defaced.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned the attack in the Notre-Dame de Lorette military cemetery near Arras, where 30,000 First World War soldiers are buried.

The rows of white headstones, marking the graves of Muslim soldiers who died fighting for France, were spray-painted with neo-Nazi slogans such as "Heil Hitler." Some had lettering whose meaning was unclear.

BBC: Vandals Hit French Muslim Graves

The graves of as many as 500 Muslim war veterans have been vandalised in northern France, in an attack President Nicolas Sarkozy said was "repugnant".

Gravestones were daubed with swastikas and letters spelling out anti-Islamic slogans at France's biggest military graveyard near Arras in the north-east.

The attack took place on the eve of Islam's Eid al-Adha festival, when Muslims visit the graves of loved ones.

Dozens of police searched the graveyard on Monday as an investigation began.

It is the third time the Muslim sector of the Notre Dame de Lorette cemetery has been attacked.
