Seth Andrews : “Awesome Without Allah”
Here’s some food for thought for you! I am not plugging atheism, by the way; so, please don’t jump to any conclusions. However, I do have an open mind; so I certainly have periods of doubt myself. Especially when I hear fundamentalists of every strip spouting forth. They sound so simplistic to me. They are so certain about things we simply cannot be certain about.
Because religion is nothing more than belief, and belief is just that: belief; we cannot ever be certain about God/Allah/Yahweh, whatever you call him. We shall have to wait until we pass on to know for sure.
So far, I do still have a belief in God, even though its strength waxes and wanes – just like the moon! But then that is normal for Christians.
What I do know is this: Christian principles are good principles to live by. However, in my experience, only the few actually manage to do so. Many call themselves Christians; only the few pass muster. We are all in need of trying harder.
The real Christians I have met in life are the ones that talk about it the least. They just get on and live by their principles – quietly.
I find Seth Andrews’ atheism very interesting; and in actual fact, I concur with much of what he says. I know from previous videos I have watched of his that Christopher Hitchens helped him along on his path to atheism.
Interesting.

Allah Knows Best! Only Allah Can Set the Price of Oil, Claims Saudi Minister as Concerns Rise over Iran Oil
DAILY EXPRESS: SAUDI Arabia's oil minister has claimed that only Allah knows whether oil prices will continue to fall.
Ali Al-Naimi said that "no one can set the price of oil – it's up to Allah."
The country has decided not to cut its levels of production – and prices could fall further if Iranian crude oil returns to the market.
Sanctions on Iran may be lifted as part of an international nuclear deal.
But Al-Naimi said: "I am not worried about Iranian crude, nor will I try to predict what the price is.
"If I were to predict, I would be somewhere else, gambling." » | Tom Parfitt | Wednesday, May 06, 2015

Muslims Urged to Abstain from Voting Because 'Democracy Violates the Right of Allah'
DAILY EXPRESS: CONTROVERSIAL posters urging Muslims to turn their backs on the ballot box because "none have the right to vote but Allah" have been plastered across the city of Cardiff.
The garish yellow flyers which read "democracy is a system whereby man violates the right of Allah" were stuck on lamp-posts and bus stops this week in Grangetown - a predominantly Muslim area of the Welsh capital.
Ahead of next month's general election, the posters also say: "Islam is the only real workable solution for the UK," before carrying the hashtag #Dontboteformanmadelaw [sic].
Cardiff Council workers have begun removing the "chilling" and "threatening" posters.
Parent Greg Pycroft, 36, was with his two-year-old son when he came across 20 posters plastered on his walk to nursery.
The Welsh Government worker said: "It was quite chilling and threatening to see these posters." » | Rebecca Perring | Saturday, April 18, 2015

In Malaysia, ‘Allah’ Is Reserved for Muslims Only
Pupils at a Christian kindergarten in Kota Kinabalu, on Borneo, are among non-Muslims not allowed by Malaysian law to use the Malay word for God. |
Technically, she broke the law.
According to a series of government orders and rulings by Malaysia’s Islamic councils, the word for God in the Malay language – “Allah” – is reserved for Muslims. Malay-language bibles are banned everywhere except inside churches. State regulations ban a list of words, including Allah, in any non-Muslim context.
Malaysia, with its collage of ethnic groups and religions, has a long history of tensions over issues ranging from dietary differences to the economic preferences enshrined in Malaysian law for the Malay Muslim majority.
But there is probably no dispute more fundamental and more emotionally charged than who owns the word God.
For Malaysia’s religious minorities, the government’s ban on non-Muslims using the word Allah, and the repeated seizures by government officials of Malay-language Bibles, is enough to make a smiling and cheery kindergarten teacher snap in anger. » | Thomas Fuller | Monday, November 03, 2014

Bergdahl Release Deal Critics Focus on Father’s Bushy Beard and Utterances in Arabic and Pashtu
President Barack Obama speaks during an appearance in the Rose Garden of the White House, accompanied by Bowe Bergdahl's parents Bob and Jani Bergdahl |
For Barack Obama, it must have seemed like a politically safe photo opportunity. His administration had just secured the release of America’s only known prisoner of war after years of negotiations and now he had invited the soldier’s parents to join him on the steps of the White House to proclaim the deal.
The images from the Rose Garden of a smiling president placing his arms supportively around Robert and Jani Bergdahl, whose son Bowe was freed in return for the release of five Taliban leaders in Guantanamo Bay, were broadcast around the world.
But past comments by Mr Bergdahl condemning US foreign policy - not to mention his bushy Islamic-looking beard, his command of Pashtu and Arabic and his use of an Islamic greeting while standing next to Mr Obama - have now been seized on by conservative critics of the president.
There was outrage on some social media sites yesterday at what appeared to have been a message that the soldier’s father issued via Twitter, which has since been removed from his account on the micro-blogging site.
“God will repay the death of every Afghan child, ameen!” the message read, using the Islamic equivalent of Amen. In the same message, he repeated his view that all Guantanamo Bay detainees should be released. » | Philip Sherwell, New York | Monday, June 02, 2014

Malaysia King Says ‘Allah’ Is Only for Muslims
RUSSIA TODAY: Only Muslims can use the word Allah to refer to God, the Malaysian King has declared adding fuel to the long-running dispute and raising questions over rights of religious minorities in the country where Islam is followed by about 60 % of the population.
Intervening in the dispute for the first time, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah urged Sunday representatives of all other communities to respect Muslims’ exclusive right in order to maintain stability and harmony in Malaysia.
“In the context of a pluralistic society, religious sensitivities especially related to Islam as the religion of the federation should be respected,” the King said in a speech, cited by Malaysian state news agency Bernama.
“Confusion and controversy can be averted if there is adherence to the provisions of the law and judicial decisions,” he added.
The term ‘Allah’ came to the language used by the nation’s dominant Malay ethnic group from Arabic and is used to describe ‘God’ by people of all faiths.
Sultan Abdul Halim, 86, is one of the nine sultans who take turns every five years to serve as head of state.
The king’s role in Malaysia is largely ceremonial and his powers are limited. However, he is considered a defender of Islam and enjoys the respect of the Muslim population. » | Published: Sunday, January 19, 2014 | Edited: Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Malaysia: Non-Muslim Ban on Using 'Allah'
The country's Christian, Buddhist and Hindu minorities had complained the ban infringed their constitutional right to practice religion freely, which the government denies.
"Allah" is the Arabic word for God and is commonly used in the Malay language to refer to God. But the government insists that "Allah" should be exclusively reserved for Muslims because of concerns its use by others would confuse Muslims and could be used to convert them.
The judgement in the Court of Appeals overturns a decision by a lower court nearly four years ago that ruled against the government ban. Anger over that ruling sparked a string of arson attacks and vandalism at Malaysian churches and other places of worship. » | AP | Monday, October 14, 2013

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Vodka branded with the Arabic word Allah has caused uproar in Kazakhstan, a predominantly Muslim country with a taste for alcohol picked up during the Soviet Union.
Allah, which means God, is written on the front of Baiterek vodka bottle caps. The bottles’ labels also suggest the vodka packs a sizeable kick with the slogan: “Allah’s strength is enough for everybody.”
While alcohol has generally played an important role in Christianity, it is forbidden in Islam and the bottles, which appeared in the eastern city of Semey, have angered religious Kazakhs.
“The only salvation for those who did this is to repent,” Bekzat Boranbai uly, an Imam in Semey, told the KTK television station.
