Was Queen Elizabeth Related to the Prophet Muhammad?
HISTORY: Claims that the British monarch was descended from the Prophet Muhammad may reveal more about modern perceptions of Islam than the queen.
LICHFIELD/GETTY IMAGES
Who’s in Elizabeth II’s family tree? Various European kings and queens may come to mind, but the Prophet Muhammad may not. Unless you open up a British tabloid these days, that is—publications like The Daily Mail and The Daily Express have recently run breathless pieces claiming Elizabeth was one of Muhammad’s descendants, recycling a recent news story that appeared in Al Ousboue, a Moroccan newspaper.
So was the queen really related to the prophet? It depends on whether you see a distant ancestor as related or not.
As The Economist notes, it’s not clear why the claims are resurfacing now. But they’ve been around since at least 1986, when the possible link was claimed by genealogist Harold B. Brooks-Baker, publisher of Burke’s Peerage, Britain’s guide to the nobility.
“It is little known by the British people that the blood of Mohammed flows in the veins of the queen,” Brooks-Baker wrote to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher at the time. » | Erin Blakemoore | Monday, April 29, 2019

Protests Over Prophet Muhammad Comments Turn Deadly in India

NEW DELHI — Two young demonstrators were killed on Friday in India’s eastern Jharkhand State amid protests across South Asia by Muslims angered by a comment from an official in India’s governing party that they believe profaned the Prophet Muhammad.
The protesters were shot during demonstrations that erupted after Friday Prayers in Ranchi, Jharkhand’s capital. Protesters there called for the arrest of Nupur Sharma, a spokeswoman for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party, who last week made speculative comments on a television talk show about the relationship between the prophet and his youngest wife.
That comment, along with another about the prophet, made by Naveen Kumar Jindal, also an official in the governing Bharatiya Janata Party, prompted outrage across the Muslim world, forcing the government to try to contain the growing diplomatic fallout.
Since taking office in 2014, Mr. Modi has often been accused of stirring anti-Muslim sentiment or remaining silent when Hindu nationalists attacked Muslims, but his government appeared to take swift action after 17 Muslim nations condemned the remarks and lodged official diplomatic protests. Iran and Saudi Arabia, which often cannot agree on anything, both summoned India’s envoys in their capitals to complain. » | Emily Schmall and Suhasini Raj | Saturday, June 11, 2022

7 Remarkable Things About Khadija, Wife of Prophet Muhammad
I often get into debates with people about women in Islam. How we dress. How we don’t dress. What we think or don’t think or should be thinking.
I also get into debates about feminism. What it is and what it isn’t. I think I’ve spawned permanent foes because I don’t care to apply the label, feminist, to describe myself. (I’m not one for labels, sorry. But if it’s even required of me, “Muslim woman” suits me just fine.)
But if we could agree for a moment that there exists a pure definition of the word feminist — to mean awesomely fierce to the millionth degree — then I’d like to introduce you to Islam’s first feminist: Khadija bint Khuwaylid.
Khadija was the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And she is one of the people I think about when I face or debate issues surrounding women today. Khadija’s existence precedes mine by more than 1,400 years. But if I can, at the very least, continuously strive to emulate her character, I will consider myself a success in life.
Seven things you might not know about the awesomely fierce Khadija (may God be pleased with her): » | Yasmina Blackman | Thursday, April 23, 2015

Controversial: The Gospel of Barnabas Predicts The Coming of Prophet Muhammad (2013)
Pope Benedict XVI is claimed to want to see the 1,500-year-old book, which many say is the Gospel of Barnabas, that has been hidden by the Turkish state for the last 12 years.
The £14million handwritten gold lettered tome, penned in Jesus' native Aramaic language, is said to contain his early teachings and a prediction of the Prophet's coming.
They claim this ancient Bible proves Muhammad, peace be upon him, is the prophet. But it also says he is the Christ! Of course don’t believe Muhammad s.a.w was Christ. If this Bible is true, then he must say Jesus is the Christ. Here now is the criticism of the text presented, based solely on the content:
"In one version of the Gospel, he is said to have told a priest: 'How shall the Messiah be called? Mohammed is his blessed name…and in another, Jesus denied being the Messiah, claiming that he or she would be Ishmaelite, the term used for an Arab," he added.
