Andrew, Epstein and a Monarchy Now Changed Forever? | The Royals

Oct 26, 2025 | This week, after Prince Andrew was forced to give up his Duke of York title, full details of the life of Prince Andrew’s accuser were revealed. Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl is a harrowing read. Its publication came in the same week the King made an historic State Visit to the Vatican, with the King and the Pope praying together for the first time in five centuries. As history was made in Rome, there were more revelations about Andrew and the "peppercorn" rent he pays for Royal Lodge, his Windsor home. Calls by politicians and the public for more action to be taken have grown louder and led to debate about the British constitution and the monarchy.

Sirikit, Glamorous Queen of Thailand Who Wielded Power, Dies at 93

THE NEW YORK TIMES: As the wife of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, she traveled the world charming government leaders and the public.

Sirikit, the former queen of Thailand and the widow of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, whose portraits appeared together for decades in houses and shops around the country, died on Friday in Bangkok. She was 93.

The royal palace said the cause was complications of blood sepsis. Sirikit had rarely appeared in public since she had a debilitating stroke in 2012.

King Bhumibol, the world’s longest-serving head of state, died in 2016. He was succeeded by the couple’s son, King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

In Thailand, Sirikit was known as Queen Mother. Born into royalty as the daughter of a prince, she met the young King Bhumibol as a teenager when she was living in France, where her father was the Thai ambassador. They married on April 28, 1950, when she was 18, a week before his coronation.

He was crowned as Rama IX of the Chakri Dynasty, and she received the royal title Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit Phra Borommarachininat. Widely believed to be the world’s longest-serving queen consort, she had three daughters in addition to their son.

A glamorous young couple, the king and queen traveled often in the 1960s to the United States and dozens of countries in Europe and Asia, where she charmed both government leaders and the public with her elegance, vivaciousness and winning smile. In both Western dress and Thai silks, she topped the International Best-Dressed List — a prestigious annual ranking of the world’s most stylish figures — four times in the 1960s. » | Seth Mydans | Friday, Octoner 24, 2025

Stalins Erben | Doku HD Reupload | ARTE

The Bukele Scam: MS-13 Deals, Dictatorship, and US Cover-ups

Oct 26, 2025 | Conservatives praise Nayib Bukele as a bold crime-fighter. But the truth is far more disturbing. Bukele built his power on repression, lies, and secret deals with MS-13. He turned El Salvador into a dictatorship by purging courts, jailing critics, and removing term limits so he can stay in power indefinitely.

US investigations found his government diverted aid to gangs in exchange for votes and reduced violence. He blocked extraditions, threatened prosecutors, and demanded the deportation of informants who exposed his ties to MS-13. This is not justice. It is corruption and cover-up.

Bukele is not fighting crime the way he claims. He is empowering criminals, silencing dissent, and lying to the world. His connections to Trump and Musk should be a warning.

Why do conservatives keep falling for scam artists like Bukele, Trump, Musk, and Orbán?

Trump Raises Tariffs on Canada by 10% in Retaliation for Anti-tariff TV Ad

THE GUARDIAN: Move is response to ad sponsored by Ontario that referenced Ronald Reagan’s support for free trade

Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he will raise US tariffs on Canada by 10% in retaliation for an anti-tariff advertisement sponsored by the Ontario government, which has further strained one of the world’s largest trade partnerships.

The statement, posted on Trump’s Truth Social account, came after several days of public disputes over the ad, which referenced Ronald Reagan’s support for free trade and provoked the US president’s anger.

“Because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts, and hostile act, I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now,” Trump said Saturday on social media. » | Marina Dunbar | Saturday, October 25, 2025

But do we know the inside story? Who really was Grace Kelly?

This comprises many films shot in 8mm, 16mm and super-8 by Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier themselves, which reveal a mother who is quite different to the official image: Free, vibrant, surrounded by her children and participating in family life.

RFK Jr to Urge Americans to Eat More Saturated Fats, Alarming Health Experts

THE GUARDIAN: Guidance from health and human services secretary contradicts decades of dietary recommendations

Robert F Kennedy Jr, the health and human services secretary, is planning to issue guidance encouraging Americans to eat more saturated fats, contradicting decades of dietary recommendations and alarming experts.

“My response and sort of counsel to myself was to stay calm, and let’s see what happens, because there was no indication given as to how, why, when this potential shift would occur,” said Cheryl Anderson, an American Heart Association board member and professor at the University of California, San Diego’s school of public health and human longevity science.

“The recommendation around saturated fat has been one of the most consistent recommendations since the first edition of the dietary guidelines.”

While Ronald Krauss, a professor of pediatrics and medicine at the University of California, San Francisco who has researched saturated fats extensively, found that saturated fats may be less harmful than previously thought, he believes if “[Kennedy] is actually going to go out and say, we should be eating more saturated fat, I think that’s really the wrong message”. » | Hannah Harris Green | Saturday, October 25, 2025

Leftwinger Catherine Connolly Wins Ireland Presidential Election by Landslide

THE GUARDIAN: Heather Humphreys concedes defeat after early vote tallies show insurmountable gap between candidates

The leftwing independent candidate, Catherine Connolly, has won a landslide victory in Ireland’s presidential election.

Her rival, Heather Humphreys, conceded defeat on Saturday afternoon after early vote tallies showed an insurmountable gap between the candidates.

“Catherine will be a president for all of us and she will be my president and I really would like to wish her all the very, very best,” Humphreys said.

Reports from tallymen – unofficial but usually reliable observers at count centres – gave Connolly 64% of the vote after two-thirds of ballots were counted.

Connolly 68, captured the imagination of many younger people and was backed by an alliance of leftwing opposition parties in Friday’s election.

The presidency is a largely ceremonial office but Connolly’s triumph is a humbling rebuke to the centre-right government. » | Rory Carroll, Ireland correspondent | Saturday, October 25, 2025

'I Am Not Done' - Kamala Harris Tells BBC She May Run for President Again

A screenshot taken from this BBC article. | Kamala Harris says she still sees herself as having a political future and may run for the White House in 2028

BBC: Former US Vice-President Kamala Harris has told the BBC she may run again for the White House.

In her first UK interview, Harris said she would "possibly" be president one day and was confident there will be a woman in the White House in future.

Making her strongest suggestion to date that she will make another presidential bid in 2028 after losing to Donald Trump last year, Harris dismissed polls that put her as an outsider to become the Democrats' pick for the next election.

Speaking to Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris also turned her fire on her former rival, branding Trump a "tyrant", and said warnings she made about him on the campaign trail had been proved right.

As the Democratic party searches for answers about Republican Donald Trump's decisive victory one year ago, much of the blame has been directed at former President Joe Biden for not standing down sooner.

But there have also been questions raised about whether Harris could have run a better campaign and set out a clearer message on the number one issue, the economy.

In the BBC interview Harris entertained the prospect of another run at the White House, saying her grandnieces would, "in their lifetime, for sure", see a female president. » | Laura Kuenssberg | Presenter, Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg | Saturday, October 25, 2025
