Bin Laden's Son Deported to Qatar

BBC: One of Osama Bin Laden's sons is in Qatar after being deported from Egypt and Spain following failed asylum bids.

Omar Bin Laden, 27, has said he does not share his father's views and has not seen him since 2000.

His British wife, Zaina Alsabah Bin Laden (formerly Jane Felix-Browne) said their condemnation of al-Qaeda had put their lives in danger in the Mid-East.

Their legal status in Qatar was not known. They have also been unsuccessful in securing British visas.

Mr Bin Laden, one of the al-Qaeda leader's 19 sons, made his claim for asylum in Madrid during a stopover on a flight from Egypt to Morocco with his 52-year-old wife.

He said the petition was rejected due to "insufficient evidence of danger or threat to [his] life". An appeal against the ruling is also believed to have been rejected.

The couple were then barred from entering Egypt, where they have lived for the past year. It was not known why Egypt denied them entry. >>> | November 9, 2008

Bin Laden's Son Seeks Asylum in Spain after Being Refused Visa to Live in UK with His British Wife

MAIL Online: Osama Bin Laden's son has claimed political asylum in Spain - after being refused entry to live in the UK with his British wife.

Omar Osama bin Laden, 27, is being held in Madrid's Barajas Airport after arriving in the Spanish capital on a Moroccan-bound flight from Egypt.

Omar, toyboy husband of a grandmother-of-five previously known as Jane Felix-Browne, is reported to be in the transit hall of the airport's newly-built terminal four.

He is expected to remain there while Interpol confirms his identity and officials consider his asylum claim.

Spanish newspaper El Pais said authorities had decided to process his case 'speedily.'

Omar's surprise asylum claim comes seven months after he was told his British visa application was being turned down at the British Embassy in Cairo because of suggestions he could still be loyal to his terrorist dad.

He is thought to have flown into Madrid without his British wife, now known as Zaina Alsabah-bin Laden.

The couple were planning to move to her £550,000 home in the village of Moulton, near Northwich in Cheshire, when he was refused a UK visa.

Mrs bin Laden, a member of the parish council in Moulton until recently, is severely visually impaired and said she needs access to medical treatment but refuses to be apart from her husband. >>> | November 4, 2008

TIMESONLINE: Bin Laden Son Claims Asylum in Spain

One of Osama bin Laden’s sons has claimed political asylum in Spain, insisting that he is a pacifist who does not share the beliefs of the world’s most wanted terrorist.

Omar Ossama bin Laden, 27, claimed asylum when his flight from Cairo to Casablanca stopped over in Madrid’s Barajas airport last night, reportedly accompanied by his British wife Jane Felix-Browne, 52, a grandmother from Cheshire.

Mr bin Laden, who was travelling on a Saudi Arabian passport, was on Tuesday being interviewed at the airport by Spanish immigration officials, who have 72 hours to make a decision. He can appeal if he is refused.

In April, he was banned from entering Britain to live with Mrs Felix-Browne, who goes by her Islamic name Zaina Mohamad, because of fears that his presence would cause “considerable public concern”. Officials told Mr bin Laden that there was evidence he was still loyal to his father. >>> Graham Keeley in Barcelona | November 5, 2008

BBC: One of Osama Bin Laden's sons is to mount a legal challenge after being refused entry to live in the UK with his 52-year-old British wife.

Omar Osama Bin Laden, 27, was told his visa application had been rejected because of newspaper suggestions he could still be loyal to his father.

He currently lives in Cairo, Egypt with wife Zaina Alsabah-Bin Laden, formerly named Jane Felix-Browne, from Cheshire. Mr Bin Laden, one of 19 siblings, has publicly condemned terrorism.

The couple hoped to move to Mrs Bin Laden's home in the village of Moulton, near Northwich in Cheshire, where she was a member of the parish council until recently.

Omar bin Laden with His Wife, Jane Felix-Browne, in Rome, Hoping for a Meeting with Pope Benedict XVI

DAILY MAIL: Wearing matching leather jackets and jeans, and with dark hair flowing over their shoulders, they stroll hand-in-hand through Rome.

No, not a couple of ageing rockers. This is Osama bin Laden's son and his British wife on their self-proclaimed mission to promote world peace.

Omar bin Laden, who at 27 is barely half the age of six-times-married Cheshire grandmother Jane Felix-Browne, looked ill at ease as they took in the tourist sights.

After having their photograph taken at the Colosseum and shopping at designer boutiques, the unlikely couple were interviewed on Italian television about their role as "peace ambassadors".

Omar, who claims to have had no contact with his infamous father since before the September 11 attacks, believes the Al Qaeda chief is still alive.

"I do not believe my father is dead, otherwise I would have known it - the world would have known it," he said.

A practising Muslim, he also spoke of his desire to meet Pope Benedict XVI. "But I have been told that it is not easy." Mr and Mrs Bin Laden: Rockers in Rome hoping for peace and a meeting with the Pope >>> By James Tozer

Omar bin Laden Wants Bush – bin Laden Talks

MSNBC: CAIRO, Egypt - President Bush doesn’t need to capture Osama bin Laden, he needs to talk to him, the terrorist leader’s son, Omar bin Laden, told TODAY co-host Matt Lauer on Tuesday.

Wearing a black, leather biker jacket, black polo shirt and faded blue jeans and with his long hair pulled back in tightly braided dreadlocks, Omar bin Laden, 26, spoke via satellite from Cairo with his 52-year-old British wife at his side. The fourth-oldest son of the world’s most wanted man has recently been in the media, saying he wants to use his name to be an “ambassador for peace” between Islam and the West. While he has renounced his father’s methods, he does not call him a terrorist.

“They do some meeting and talk together,” he said in heavily accented English of Bush and Osama bin Laden, suggesting that a meeting could be facilitated by other world political and religious leaders. “Find the middle ground between everybody – that’s my goal, to find it for every civilian people,” he said. Bin Laden’s Son Seeks Life as UK Country Gentleman

WORLDNETDAILY: The fourth son of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, who attended terror-training sessions in Afghanistan with his father, may soon take up residence with his British wife at her English country home, where the two plan to have a child with a surrogate mother and become peace activists, if his recent request for a visa is approved.

Omar Bin Laden, 26, who met Jane Felix-Browne, 52, in September 2006 when the Englishwoman was vacationing in Egypt, has been interviewed by British Embassy officials in Cairo, the London Daily Mail reported.

Felix-Brown, then a grandmother, surprised many last year when she announced she had become daughter-in-law to the mastermind of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, on New York City and Washington, D.C. The pair hid their marriage – the sixth for Felix-Brown and the second (concurrent) marriage for bin Laden – initially.

Last July, when interviewed by the Daily Mail on her way to rejoin her new husband in Egypt, Felix-Brown expressed skepticism over her father-in-law's role in the terror attack.

"I mean, do you know - beyond all doubt – that he did it? If so, I'd like you to show me the evidence. I don't think it's nice to make assumptions about someone when you don't know the facts," she said.

At the time, Felix-Brown – who has since changed her name to Zaina Al Sabah Bin Laden – expressed a desire to eventually settle in Saudi Arabia and said she had no problem with her husband having another wife and child.

"I'd set up another home nearby, and he would come and go between the two," she said. "It is quite normal, really. I don't mind at all – why should I? I'm not jealous of his wife. I have spoken to her. Lots of married men in this country have girlfriends. At least he is being honest."

Unfortunately for bin Laden's first wife, British immigration officials care less about "honesty" than polygamy and are requiring proof bin Laden has obtained a divorce in Saudi Arabia before allowing him to move to Felix-Brown's $1.1 million home in Moulton, Cheshire, in Britain's rural northwest.

"We have been told there will not be a problem as long as we can provide the original documents from his divorce from his first wife. And that should be done in a week," said the second Mrs. bin Laden. Omar Ossama Bin Laden talks of Anger and Outrage at Publicity Over His Marriage to Zaina Bint Mohamad al-Sabah

THE GUARDIAN: When the son of the world's most wanted terrorist decided to marry a British grandmother nearly twice his age, he had hoped the union would pass unnoticed.

But, much to his dismay, a son of Osama bin Laden has found that his polygamous marriage has prompted a glut of stories in the British press. In a written statement published by the Saudi newspaper al-Watan yesterday, Omar bin Laden said he was "stunned and outraged" at the publicity the wedding has attracted. A Daily Mail Interview with Mrs Bin Laden: Jane Felix-Browne “Doesn’t Do Convention.” As a “Devout Muslim,” One Day Saudi Arabia Will Be Her Ideal Place to Live

DAILY MAIL: Heavens, what a mess. The new Mrs Bin Laden is about to board a flight out of the UK, and it's not going according to plan.

First, our telephone interview is abruptly halted when the police "would like a word" with her. "Gotta go, I think I am being questioned," snaps Jane Felix-Browne, and the line goes dead.

Ten minutes later, she is back - minus her passport and boarding pass, apparently - and reading aloud from a card that has been kindly handed to her, presumably by some men with large guns.

"Under Section 7 of the Terrorism Act, it is your duty to be truthful... you must provide any documents, passports... blah blah blah... you are not under arrest," she reads.

Woah! Hold on. Is she being detained? On what grounds? Surely even she wouldn't be daft enough to put her married name on her passport?

She sounds irritated rather than concerned. "It's a formality. I've done nothing wrong. I've had this before. Let's keep talking until they come back."

However, we are again interrupted - this time by a choking sound that cuts her off in mid-sentence. Whatever now?

Has she been marched away in handcuffs? Strangled? Wrestled to the ground by a fellow passenger who took issue with the family name?

Alas, nothing so dramatic. "Sorry," she splutters. "I was trying to take a drink while wearing a burka. I've poured it down me. What a mess."

So begins the farce that is interviewing Jane Felix-Browne, aka Mrs Omar Bin Laden, daughter-in-law of Osama - yes, that Osama.

A few days ago, her neighbours in the tranquil Cheshire village of Moulton knew Jane as just another slightly dotty grandmother who sat on the parish council.

She was a bit odd, granted, with a face unnaturally smoothed, it was rumoured, by Botox and the surgeon's scalpel.

She was always off on exotic jaunts to the Middle East, and spoke of her devout Islamic faith - but all in clipped English tones. Revealed in the world's first full interview: The bizarre world of Mrs Bin Laden (more) By Jenny Johnston

Jane Felix-Browne – Zaina Mohamad – the New Mrs Omar Ossama bin Laden: Latest Member of the Harem

DAILY MAIL: She's a surgically enhanced "Lady" from Cheshire whose toyboy sixth husband is the son of the world's most wanted man.

She drives a white Jaguar with exotic plates, sports a face and body which owe their lingering youth to the plastic surgeon's knife, affects an aristocratic title and has been married as many times as Henry VIII.

So far, so very Cheshire Set, you might say.

But what indisputably distinguishes "Lady" Jane Felix-Browne from the other haute coutured and perma-tanned matrons of the Manchester stockbroker belt is that her new father-in-law is Osama Bin Laden.

Yes, that Osama Bin Laden. During a holiday to Egypt last year the 51-year-old grandmother met a Saudi scrap metal dealer called Omar, who just happens to be a son of the world's most wanted man.

After a whirlwind courtship they married in April in Islamic ceremonies in Cairo and Saudi Arabia, where the groom, a youth of saturnine good looks, is based.

Mrs Felix-Browne, now back home in Cheshire, wants to get her husband a visa to visit this country. She hopes Omar will spend six months here and six months in Saudi.

But she conceded: "Because my husband's name is Bin Laden he finds it very difficult to travel anywhere. He rarely leaves Saudi Arabia because of the problems he runs into at airports.

"He would like to spend quite a bit of time here. There's no reason why he should not come here to live, but I don't think he would like the weather."

She added: "I married the man I met and fell in love with - to me he is just Omar. He is the most beautiful person I have ever met. Meet the British Mrs Bin Laden (more)

TIMESONLINE: The British woman who has become the daughter-in-law of Osama bin Laden said yesterday that she hoped to use the enormous international interest in their relationship to campaign for peace in the Middle East.

Jane Felix-Browne said that she had been overwhelmed by the response after The Times revealed yesterday that she had married a son of the al-Qaeda leader.

Mrs Felix-Browne, 51, married Omar Ossama bin Laden, 27, in April after a holiday romance and is now preparing to apply for a visa so that he can visit Britain.

British Woman Marries OBL’s Son, Omar, and Wants to Bring Him to the UK!

TIMESONLINE: A British woman has married a son of Osama bin Laden after a holiday romance and is to apply for a visa so that he can visit Britain, The Times has learnt.

Jane Felix-Browne, a 51-year-old grandmother and parish councillor from Cheshire, has until now kept her marriage to Omar Ossama bin Laden, 27, secret from everyone apart from her immediate family and close friends. But she has now agreed to speak about her relationship with bin Laden’s fourth eldest son.

“It would be nice if, like any other married woman, I could stand up and say this is my husband and this is his name, but I have to be realistic about things,” she told The Times. “I hope people don’t judge me too harshly. I married the son, not the father.”

Mrs Felix-Browne says she is aware that some people will be hostile to her marriage. Among the numerous terrorist plots linked to her new father-in-law are the London suicide bombings on July 7, 2005, the July 21 plot, and the recent attempted attacks in London and Glasgow. “I just married the man I met and fell in love with – to me he is just Omar,” she said. “I hope that people will take a step back and think what it was like when they fell in love. He is the most beautiful person I have ever met. His heart is pure, he is pious, quiet, a true gentleman, and he is my best friend.” Briton marries bin Laden’s son (more) By David Brown
