>>> ag. | Montag, 12. Juli 2010

Sudan Incites Against New Danish Movie

ARUTZ SHEVA: (IsraelNN.com) A new Danish film portraying the Arab Muslim genocide against Black Africans in Darfur is being compared by the Sudanese government to the anti-Islamist film Fitna and to cartoons of Muhammad published in a Danish newspaper in 2005. The publication of those cartoons of the founder of Islam led to worldwide rioting and ongoing violence, including an attempt this week to kill one of the cartoonists.

A spokesman for Sudan's foreign ministry called the movie, Hævnen ("The Revenge"; also titled Civilization in English) by Susanne Bier, "racist". The film "should be seen as a new extension of the notorious Fitna movie and the cartoons which insult the prophet Muhammad," according to Sudanese officials. >>> Nissan Ratzlav-Katz | Thursday, January 07, 2010

Sudan Expels U.S. Aid Group over Bibles - State Media

REUTERS: KHARTOUM - A United States aid group has been thrown out of Sudan's Darfur region after officials found thousands of Arabic-language bibles stacked in its office, state media reported on Saturday.

Sudanese authorities told the state Suna news agency they found 3,400 copies of Christianity's sacred book in the office run by water charity Thirst No More in North Darfur, a region that is almost entirely Muslim.

Officials told Suna they had decided to expel the Texas-based group "for its violation to the Voluntary Work Act, the Country Agreement and the regulations on registration of organizations in Sudan." >>> By Andrew Heavens | Saturday, January 31, 2009

Bush Defends US Record on Darfur

BBC: US President George W Bush has defended his decision not to send troops to the Sudanese region of Darfur, despite what he calls a genocide taking place there.

He called it a "seminal decision" not to intervene with force, taken partly out of the desire not to send US troops into another Muslim country.

Mr Bush was speaking to BBC World News America before flying to Africa.

He also discussed controversy over China's Olympics - saying he would attend the event as scheduled.

After Steven Spielberg withdrew his assistance to the Olympics in protest at China's policy towards Darfur, Mr Bush said he would not be taking a similar stance.

"I view the Olympics as a sporting event," he told the BBC's Matt Frei.
But he added that he would meet Chinese President Hu Jintao and "remind him that he can do more to relieve the suffering in Darfur". Bush defends US record on Darfur >>>

OBL Calls for Holy War Against Peacekeepers in Darfur

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has called for a holy war against a proposed peacekeeping force in Sudan's war torn region of Darfur, in a message that appeared on jihadi websites on Tuesday.

The audio recording was accompanied by a still picture and excerpts were aired by pan-Arab satellite news channel al-Jazeera yesterday.

Bin Laden called on those living in the areas surrounding Darfur, particularly the Arabian peninsula, to drive out any foreign forces in the region. Bin Laden calls for jihad against peacekeepers (more)

Sarkozy Proves His Mettle In His Determination to Tackle the Problems of Darfur

TIMESONLINE: High on personal triumph from the European summit, President Sarkozy offered French leadership yesterday to resolve the conflict in Darfur.

“Silence is killing,” Mr Sarkozy told an international conference in Paris attended by Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, and Chinese and other international officials. French troops are expected to be the largest contingent in a new

UNAfrican force to bring relief to the western Sudan territory where 200,000 have been killed in ethnic violence since 2003.

Unlike President Chirac, who took little interest in Darfur, Mr Sarkozy has made the crisis a priority. His Darfur push, promoted by Bernard Kouchner, the outspoken rights activist who is his Foreign Minister, is one of a whirlwind of initiatives that are dazzling the new President’s admirers and stirring unease among critics.

“If he carries on at this rate Sarkozy will quickly become the new Sun King, or he will burn up in a year or two,” said le Midi Libre. The Mediterranean newspaper was reacting to a streak of frenetic activity by the reformist “hyper-President” who is drawing comparisons with King Louis XIV, le Roi Soleil, and Napoleon Bonaparte.
