Al-Qaeda Leader Ayman al-Zawahri Urges Young Muslim Men to Launch Lone-wolf Attacks on American Homes

THE INDEPENDENT: Once acting as the Iraqi sub section of al-Qaeda, Isis now threatens to eclipse them completely

The Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri has called on young Muslim men in Western countries to carry out lone-wolf attacks – and urged greater unity between militants.

"I call on all Muslims who can harm the countries of the crusader coalition not to hesitate. We must now focus on moving the war to the heart of the homes and cities of the crusader West and specifically America," he said in an audio recording posted online on Sunday, referring to nations making up the Western-led coalition in Iraq and Syria.

He suggested Muslim youth in the West take the Tsarnaev and Kouachi brothers, who carried out the Boston marathon bombings and Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris respectively, and others as examples to follow.

In a recording released on Wednesday, Zawahiri denounced Isis as "illegitimate", indicating the extent of the schism between the twogroups. » | Alice Harrold, Agency | Sunday, September 13, 2015

Al-Qaeda Leader Urges Muslim World to Support Syrian Uprising

THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Al-Qaeda has proclaimed its solidarity with anti-government protesters in Syria in a video message urging the Muslim world to support the protesters in their efforts to over throw.

Ayman al-Zawahri, global head of al-Qaeda since the death of Osama bin Laden last May, issued the call to arms in an eight-minute video posted on an Islamic website on Sunday entitled "Onwards, Lions of Syria".

Dressed entirely in white, with an assault rifle displayed by his side, Egyptian born al-Zawahri urged Muslim states including Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan to come to the aid of Syrian protesters and urged Syrian protesters not to ally themselves with the Western powers, including the US and the United Nations, or the Arab League.

"Our people in Syria, don't rely on the West or the United States or Arab governments and Turkey," Mr Zawahri said."You know better what they are planning against you. Our people in Syria don't depend on the Arab League and its corrupt governments supporting it." » | Phoebe Greenwood | Sunday, February 12, 2012

Al-Qaida Release Video Message Likening Barack Obama to George Bush

THE GUARDIAN: Al-Qaida marked the eighth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington with a video message tonight in which it predicted that Barack Obama would be brought down by the Muslims.

In a two-part, 106-minute tape recorded in Arabic and released on militant websites, Osama bin Laden's righthand man, Ayman al-Zawahri, likened the US president to his predecessor.

"America has come in a new, hypocritical face. Smiling at us, but stabbing us with the same dagger that Bush used," said Zawahri. "God willing, your end will be at the hands of the Muslim nation, so that the world and history will be free of your crimes and lies."

According to the Site Institute, a group that monitors extremist websites, the video, titled The West and the Dark Tunnel, was made by the media arm of al-Qaida, as-Sahab. Although Bin Laden does not feature, several key members of the leadership do. In addition to Zawahri there is Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, Attiya Allah and Abu Yahya al-Libi. >>> Ed Pilkington in New York | Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Al Qaeda's Zawahri Says Wipe Israel from the Map

REUTERS: DUBAI - Al Qaeda's second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri said Israel should be wiped off the map and described the Jewish state as a crime against Muslims.

Zawahri also accused U.S. President Barack Obama of conducting a policy on Israeli-Palestinian issues that was bound to end in failure for the Palestinians, and said Obama wanted a Palestinian state that would serve as "an extension of the CIA."

"Israel is a crime that should be removed," Zawahri said in an interview with al Qaeda's media arm As-sahab, posted on an Islamist website on Monday.

Al Qaeda leaders have often said that they would focus their holy war on Israel after the creation of an Islamic state in Iraq.

Al Qaeda has no recognisable presence in Israel, or in the Palestinian Territories which are dominated by the Islamist group Hamas and the secular Fatah movement led by U.S.-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Ayman Al-Zawahri: ”Unite in Jihad” O Ye Men of Faith!

SPIEGELONLINE INTERNATIONAL: In a new al-Qaida video, the terror network's No. 2 calls for Muslims to unite in jihad and talks of plans to set up new camps in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia. Meanwhile, Islamists in Germany say that al-Qaida are no longer radical enough and call them "non-believers."

Al-Qaida's No. 2 has released a new video calling for Muslims to unite in jihad and talking of plans to set up bases in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia.

The video was obtained by the Washington, D.C.-based institute SITE, which monitors radical Islamist communication, on Wednesday ahead of its official release.

In the one-and-a-half hour video entitled "The Advice of One Concerned," Ayman al-Zawahri, who is al-Qaida's No. 2 after Osama bin Laden, talks about the terror organization's future strategy. The network, he says, plans to set up camps in Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia to train jihadists. Although al-Qaida is believed to already have camps on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and is known to be present in Iraq, the claim the group plans to set up new camps reflects a new self-confidence on the part of the terror network.
