Washington DC Officials Block Muhammad Subway Cartoon

Ms Geller is an outspoken critic of Islam
BBC AMERICA: Transport officials in Washington DC have blocked plans by an American free speech pressure group to have a controversial cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad displayed on the subway.

The American Freedom Defense Initiative wanted to display the cartoon, which won first prize at an event in Texas.

Two gunmen were shot dead by police outside the event earlier this month.

Washington transport authorities on Thursday banned political, religious and advocacy adverts on the subway.

The transport authority in the US capital voted unanimously to suspend advertisements it describes as "issue-oriented".

AFDI founder Pamela Geller strongly criticised the decision to ban the advert, describing it as an attack on free[dom] of speech.

Ms Geller commented on her website that "rewarding terror with submission is defeat, absolute and complete defeat. "These cowards may claim that they are making people safer, but I submit to you the opposite. They are making it far more dangerous for Americans everywhere."

The advert calls for Americans to support free speech and features a bearded, turban-wearing Muhammad waving a sword and shouting: "You can't draw me!"

In reply, a cartoon bubble portrays an artist grasping a pencil and saying: "That's why I draw you." » | Friday, May 29, 2015

Geert Wilders on Muslim Hit Lists before Muhammad Cartoon Attack

The keynote speaker at Sunday's Muhammad cartoon-drawing contest in Texas was Dutch politician Geert Wilders, a longtime target of Muslim extremists in Europe. Mr. Wilders is an ally of anti-Shariah organization American Freedom Defense Initiative, which sponsored the event that came under attack from two gunmen and a possible car bomb Sunday. He also was a…

Police in Texas Kill Gunmen at Exhibit Defying Islam

THE NEW YORK TIMES: HOUSTON — Two gunmen were killed after they opened fire Sunday evening outside an event hosted by an anti-Islam group in Garland, Tex., featuring cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, local officials said. According to the authorities, the two assailants shot a private security guard and were, in turn, shot and killed by police officers.

Officials did not give the identities of the gunmen or the security officer and did not assign a motive for the attack. The Texas State Police and the F.B.I. referred reporters’ questions to the Garland Police Department. The City of Garland confirmed the episode in a Facebook posting. » | Manny Fernandez and Liam Stock | Sunday, May 03, 2015

Anti-Islam Ads Featuring Hitler Unveiled on Philadelphia Buses

An anti-Islam ad campaign hitting the streets of Philadelphia this week features Adolf Hitler having a sit-down meeting with "leader of the Muslim world" Haj Amin al-Husseini. The ads were created by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), a New Hampshire-based nonprofit co-founded by conservative pundit Pamela Geller, and will be displayed on 84 public transit…

Judge: Philly Public Buses Must Run Ads Linking Muslims to Hitler

CBS NEWS: PHILADELPHIA -- Anti-Islamic ads could soon be coming to Philadelphia public buses.

CBS Philadelphia reports that a federal court judge on Wednesday sided with a New Hampshire based non-profit on its claim that it has a first amendment right to run bus ads linking Muslims to Hitler.

The ads include images of Adolf Hitler and read "Islamic Jew Hatred: It's in the Quran." While they may be incendiary to some, a federal court judge wrote they're perfectly acceptable under the first amendment.

"He agreed with us on all the issues," said attorney Robert Muise.

Muise represents plaintiff American Freedom Defense Initiative. The group has filed more than a half dozen lawsuits against transit authorities across the country over anti-Islamic ads. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority refused to run their ad saying it disparaged Muslims, but the court held the buses are public forums -- so SEPTA cannot censor AFDI's political speech. » | Thursday, March 12, 2015

Pamela Geller: Islamic Apartheid Ads Go Up in New York City and Washington DC

AFDI: Now more than ever, we have to educate the American people. And we are getting it done. In the wake of the Boston jihad bombings, the enemedia is in overdrive to obscure and obfuscate the motive behind the blood and carnage on a shiny, happy Monday in Boston.

AFDI fights this propaganda putsch by going on the offens[iv]e and taking the message to the people.

We’re bringing the truth about the jihad against free people and Islamic supremacism directly to the people. We force a media discussion of the grim realities of jihad and Sharia that they usually sweep under the rug.

Ads calling Israel an apartheid state are running on New York Metro North train platforms. For years, ads like this one have run unchallenged. But we are there. Their lies will not stand.

Our Islamic apartheid ads are going up on New York subways and Washington, DC dioramas this week to counter the Muslim lies and expose the truth about the Sharia.

No one else is doing what we are doing and no one is as effective as we have been.

You see how furiously the enemedia is spinning in the wake of the Boston jihad. Even after jihadis blew up our families in our streets, they still lie and obscure the truth about the jihad against the U.S.

But we will not be stopped.

Help us get our ads up. We need your help. Help fund the fight. Stop the Islamization of America. Donate here.

'Controversial Anti-Islam Ads Set for Washington DC'

THE JERUSALEM POST: 'Washington Post' reports inflammatory ad equating jihad with savagery to be posted in 4 DC subways beginning Monday.

A federal judge has ordered the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Agency to begin displaying controversial advertisements beginning Monday in Washington DC, The Washington Post reported on Saturday.

The decision came last Friday in a one-page ruling by US District Judge Rosemary Collyer, granting an injunction to the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) that sought to force Metro to display provocative posters in four stations, the Washington Post reported, even though the transit agency has worried the ads might incite violence. The posters were scheduled to be displayed for a month starting Sept. 24, but were delayed until the court decision.

The ads will say: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man," the ad reads. "Support Israel/Defeat Jihad."

Rabbi's for Human Rights in North America plans to take out subway ads urging riders to "choose love" in what the Jewish group's director calls a response to the anti-jihad advertisements, The Jewish Weekly reported Friday.

The Rabbis for Human Rights' ads say, "In the choice between love and hate, choose love. Help stop bigotry against our Muslim neighbors.” » | JPOST.COM STAFF | Reuters contributed to this report | Saturday, October 06, 2012

Anti-Islamic Ad Claiming "It's Not Islamophobia, It's Islamorealism" Goes Up in NY Train Stations

CBS NEWS: LARCHMONT, N.Y. - An anti-Islamic advertisement has gone up at several Metro-North Railroad stations in Westchester County.

It reads: "It's not Islamophobia, it's Islamorealism."

The signs were paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, an organization ran by blogger and political activist Pamela Geller. It associates Islam with 19,250 terrorist attacks carried out by extremists since the 9/11. She told CBS radio station 1010 WINS in New York that the sign is intended to tell people that it is not "Islamophobic' to oppose jihad terror."

"The ad is just stating a fact. There have been well over 19,000 jihadi attacks since 9/11," Geller said. "People need to know this. Obviously, everybody is surprised by this number and I think that's part of the reason why we need to run these ads. People need to know this is going on across the world."

The Metropolitan Transpiration Authority in New York (MTA) said it doesn't support the sentiment displayed in the ad but doesn't bar advertising based on content, according to CBS station WCBS in New York. » | CBS/AP | Friday, August 17, 2012
