Democracy Now! No Kings: Millions Across US Protest Trump's Power Grab, Overshadowing His Military Parade
Jan 16, 2025 | More than 5 million people joined No Kings Day protests Saturday in the largest day of action against President Trump since his return to office. Protests were held in over 2,100 cities and towns across the country. The protests coincided with a poorly attended, multimillion-dollar military parade on President Trump's birthday, June 14. Democracy Now! spoke with anti-Trump protesters at the Washington, D.C., military parade and at New York City's No Kings protest.

Colonia Tovar: Venezuela's "Little Germany" Looks Like a Village in the Black Forest
Dec 7, 2022 | Where can you find half-timbered houses, German beer, and Black Forest cake in South America? Colonia Tovar. DW's Joel Dullroy visited the Venezuelan tourist attraction, where he felt transported back to the heart of the Black Forest. The town has a population of roughly 20,000 people and was founded by German immigrants around 150 years ago. Not much has changed there since then.

From Mudlarking to the German Occupation of Guernsey during WW2 as Told by the People Who Were There
Feb 13, 2022 | What was it like working for the Guernsey Secret Underground Press during the German occupation of WW2? What was it like as a child to steal potatoes from the Germans? What about the slave labourers building the fortifications?
In 2021 I had the opportunity to speak to 5 people who told me their stories. One of these people was Magda Royall, the daughter of Jerzy Mroch - a slave labourer, who fell in love with a Guernsey woman. Molly Bihet was 9 years old when the war started and she told me how life became increasingly difficult as time went on, with severe food shortages. Mary has gone on to write four books and you can find these at her website: The Channel Islands Occupation Society »
Mary Sim's parents worked for GASP - the Guernsey Secret Underground Press. Mary belongs to the Occupation Society and would love to hear from anyone if they have any stories relating to the Occupation or GASP.

Will Trump den Bürgerkrieg? | Does Trump Want Civil War? | Der Trump Effekt | auslandsjournal - the podcast
Jun 11, 2025 | A president against his own people? Following protests against immigration enforcement measures, US President Donald Trump is sending troops into the streets of Los Angeles. The troops are to take action against the demonstrators there – against the express wishes of LA Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
In this episode of "The Trump Effect," Katrin Eigendorf, Elmar Theveßen, and Ulf Röller ask how far Trump is really going – and whether this threatens the end of democracy in the US and civil war.

Argentina's Milei to Declassify Documents on Nazi War Criminals Who Fled to Argentina | DW News
March 27, 2025 | Argentina's President Javier Milei says he is declassifying government documents on how Nazi war criminals escaped Europe and resettled in South America following World War Two. Historians believe as many as 5,000 Nazis evaded arrest in Argentina – sometimes with the help of the authorities.
The most prominent of them was Adolf Eichmann. Eichmann was one of the architects of the Holocaust and escaped to Argentina using false papers. Israeli agents captured him in Buenos Aires and took him to Jerusalem to stand trial. He found guilty and sentenced to death.

Michael Lambert: What Is Trump Planning?
June 14, 2025 | Under the leadership of Donald Trump, the United States is in chaos. His tariffs have badly damaged the economy and countries are not queueing up to do trade deals with the United States.
The random and ruthless deportation of 'undocumented' immigrants, many of whom have been working in the USA and paying taxes for many years, has been cruel.
Last week, a US congressman from California, Alex Padilla, was thrown to the ground and handcuffed for asking a question of Kirsti Noem, the head of Homeland Security.
Cuts to welfare, Medicare, and Medicaid in order to give tax breaks to already very rich Americans is unfair.
On June 14th, nationwide demonstrations against the Trump government are to be held in 1800 locations throughout the US.
Trumps only option may be to impose Martial Law as public anger increases. It is important that all demonstrations must remain peaceful, no matter if there is provocation. Senators and members of Congress may well be persuaded to reconsider their allegiance to Trump
