British Police Have Transformed Into a Tool for Enforcing the State's Will -- Peter Hitchens

Oct 17, 2021 • Peter Hitchens discusses the British police's historic transformation into a form unrecognisable from decades past. He argues that the British police were once unique in the world. They were an important conservative & very English institution which was set up in complete distinction from continental police forces. Parliament had seen European police forces become tools of oppression. They were armed & uniformed state police whose job was to enforce the will of the state -- and it was not felt that such a body should exist in Britain. Consequently, the British police force that was set up was very different: unarmed, not given special powers, limited in their abilities. This is no longer the case.

Video Shows French Police Dragging Pregnant Women and Children Along Ground

THE TELEGRAPH: A video showing an immigrant pregnant women and children being dragged along the ground by police has provoked outrage across France.

The footage – which shows the officers trying to get rid of African squatters from a Paris housing estate – shows at least one woman fainting and young children screaming.

All were being targeted by officers from the elite CRS riot squad, who were armed and wearing body armour.

No female police were involved, and there was no medical assistance on hand.

The emergence of the video, filmed on July 21st, comes at the worst possible time for French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

He is currently trying to get rid of thousands of unwanted immigrants to his country, including gipsies and foreign criminals.

Mr Sarkozy has always been a firm believer in tough policing. >>> Peter Allen in Paris | Monday, August 02, 2010

Justice on London's Streets, the Jewish Way

THE INDEPENDENT: With his dark-blue uniform, earpiece and walkie-talkie, Nochem Perlberger could pass for a police officer as he patrols the leafy streets of London’s Stamford Hill neighbourhood. Like an officer of the law, he responds to emergency calls, visits crime scenes and pursues suspects.

However, he is a member not of the constabulary but of the Stamford Hill Shomrim Rescue Patrol, a group of Orthodox Jewish men who, for the past two years, have been “policing” the streets of their community in Hackney.

Set up nearly two years ago, the group now has 22 patrolling members, a headquarters and even a 24-hour emergency number, staffed by six operators, which residents call to report crime. “Every house and child in the community knows this number off by heart,” said Mr Perlberger, one of the group’s committee members.

In the five months since the Stamford Hill Shomrim hotline was established, they have dealt with more than 2,000 calls including break-ins, thefts and muggings. On average, they identify three to five suspects a week and hand them over to the police. >>> Mark Hughes | Monday, January 04, 2010

How Much Is This ‘Enriching’ Diversity Actually Costing Us in Policing? At This Rate, We’ll Soon Be Bankrupt!

MAIL Online: A Muslim extremist who works as a baggage handler at Luton Airport had his security pass suspended today after it was revealed he took part in a protest hurling abuse at British troops.

Jalal Ahmed was among the 20-strong group of extremists protesting when the Royal Anglian Regiment returned home from Iraq earlier this week.

During their homecoming parade, he was spotted clutching a banner proclaiming: 'Anglian soldiers: Butchers of Basra'.
After he was revealed to be part of the hate-filled demonstration, his pass allowing him to go airside and work at the airport was revoked.

Ahmed, who is in his twenties and lives in Luton, works on a casual basis for Menzies Aviation, which provides baggage handling at the airport for easyJet and other airlines.

He is believed to have worked there during peak periods over the past two years and would have had access to secure areas of the site. Why Doesn’t ‘New Labour’ Ban Breathing, and Have Done with It? Another Step Towards Total Control of the People, Another Step Towards a Police State

What they should ban is corruption in politics!

THE TELEGRAPH: Drivers could find themselves over the legal alcohol threshold after a single drink under plans being drawn up by the Government to lower the drink drive limit.

Police could also be given powers to stop and breathalyse drivers at random, even if their driving gives no cause for concern.

A Department for Transport consultation to be launched in the New Year is set to propose reducing the legal blood-alcohol limit for driving by almost half.

It is thought that the limit could be cut from 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood to 50mg. The 80mg limit allows a man of average height and weight to drink as many as four units of alcohol, or two pints of normal-strength beer, and still remain within the law. Women can drink three units, the equivalent of a large glass of average strength wine.

Cutting the limit to 50mg could put drivers over the limit after one strong pint of lager or a glass of wine.

A reduction would bring Britain into line with most other European countries. One drink may put you over the limit >>> By James Kirkup

Stop and Search

BBC: The number of people from Asian backgrounds stopped and searched by police has increased by 300% since the Terrorism Act 2000 came into force.

Home Office figures for England and Wales show that in 2002/2003 nearly 3,000 Asians were stopped and searched.

The total number of stop and searches under terror laws more than doubled in 2002/2003 from 8,550 to 21,577.

Muslim groups have criticised the rise, saying it showed prejudice and "Islamophobia" were evident. Rise in police searches of Asians (more)

”Stop and Question”: Thanks to Islam?

BBC: The government is considering giving police officers across the UK "stop and question" powers under new anti-terror laws, says the Home Office.

The proposal, allowing police to ask people about their identity and movement, is among measures being considered by Home Secretary John Reid.

The measure is so far used only in Northern Ireland.

Police elsewhere have to have "reasonable suspicion" a crime has been committed before they can stop people.

Anyone who refuses to co-operate could be charged with obstructing the police and fined up to £5,000, according to the Sunday Times. Stop and quiz powers considered (more)
