Trump Says US Will 'Permanently Pause Migration' from 'Third World Countries' | ITV News

Nov 28, 2025 | Donald Trump has said the US will "permanently pause migration" from all "third world countries". The comments come after two National Guard troops were shot near the White House on Wednesday.

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom died from her wounds the following day, and 24-year-old Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe remains in a critical condition.

The suspect accused of the shooting has been named as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who worked with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) before the American withdrawal in 2021, who drove some 2,600 miles from the state of Washington, to launch the attack.

After the shooting, Trump said his administration would review everyone who entered from Afghanistan under former President Joe Biden - a measure his administration had been planning even before the shooting.

Trump Vows Crackdown on Immigration and Orders More Troops to D.C. After Shooting

THE NEW YORK TIMES: The president described the shooting as an “act of terror” and “a crime against humanity” and called the suspect, an Afghan national, an “animal.”

President Trump on Wednesday called for a crackdown on immigration and ordered 500 more troops to Washington after the shooting of two National Guard members patrolling the capital and the identification of an Afghan national as the suspect.

Mr. Trump posted a video shortly after 9 p.m. from Palm Beach, Fla., where he is spending Thanksgiving, describing the shooting as an “act of terror” and “a crime against humanity.” He called the suspect, whom people familiar with the investigation identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, an “animal” who shot the guard members “at point-blank range in a monstrous, ambush-style attack just steps away from the White House.”

Although many details about the shooting were still unknown by nightfall on Wednesday, Mr. Trump did not hold back. He used the attack to launch a broadside against immigration, saying the shooting “underscores the single greatest national security threat facing our nation” and vowing to redouble his mass deportation efforts.

He said the suspect had entered the country in 2021 as part of a program under President Joseph R. Biden Jr. that provided entry to Afghan nationals fleeing the Taliban takeover of their country after the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops.

“We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country under Biden,” he said. » | Shawn McCreesh | Shawn McCreesh covers the White House. Senior Minister Brushes Off Trump’s Advice to Use Military to Control UK Borders

THE GUARDIAN: Peter Kyle says bolstered Border Force is tackling small boat crossings, as second person is deported ‘under one in, one out’ scheme

One of Keir Starmer’s senior ministers has dismissed suggestions by Donald Trump that the British government call out the military to help deal with irregular migration.

Peter Kyle, the UK business secretary, brushed off the comments, which the US president made on Thursday at the end of his two-day state visit.

Trump told a press conference at Chequers: “You have people coming in and I told the prime minister I would stop it, and it doesn’t matter if you call out the military, it doesn’t matter what means you use.”

Kyle said on Friday, however, the government did not need to call on the armed forces to deal with small boat crossings, hours after the UK successfully deported a second asylum seeker to France under the “one-in, one-out” pilot scheme.

He told BBC Breakfast: “What [Trump] suggested was that the military are used, but we have the UK Border Force. It is now established and has been reinforced and bolstered, and has new powers under this government. » | Kiran Stacey, Policy editor | Friday, September 19, 2025

Spain Is an Example to the World

OPINION : GUEST ESSAY

THE NEW YORK TIMES: Spain is having a moment bucking Western political trends. The country has recently recognized Palestine as a state, resisted President Trump’s demand that NATO members increase their defense spending to 5 percent of gross domestic product and doubled down on D.E.I. programs. But there’s no better example of Spain going its own way than immigration. At a time when many Western democracies are trying to keep immigrants out, Spain is boldly welcoming them in.

The details are striking. In May, new regulations went into effect that eased migrants’ ability to obtain residency and work permits, and the Spanish Parliament began debating a bill to grant amnesty to undocumented immigrants. These reforms could open a path to Spanish citizenship to more than one million people. Most of them are part of a historic immigration surge that between 2021 and 2023 brought nearly three million people born outside the European Union to Spain.

Demand has something to do with it: Like many Western democracies, Spain needs more people. Last year the national birthrate was 1.4, the second lowest in the European Union and well below the 2.1 threshold needed to maintain the country’s population level of around 48 million people. Spain also has a big economy — the fourth largest in the E.U. — fueled by a travel and tourism industry that is brimming with jobs that most Spaniards do not want.

But unlike in other countries, backlash has been strikingly muted. That’s partly because some of these pro-migrant measures stem from society at large. The push for the undocumented immigrants’ amnesty did not originate with the government, tellingly, but with a popular petition that garnered 600,000 signatures and was endorsed by 900 nongovernmental organizations, business groups and even the Spanish Conference of Bishops. The government, in turn, has designed a humane and pragmatic approach, offering an example for other countries to emulate. » | Omar G. Limit Migration from ‘Alien Cultures with Medieval Attitudes’, Jenrick Suggests

THE TELEGRAPH: Robert Jenrick suggested the Tories could seek to limit immigration to the UK from what he has described as “alien cultures”.

He stood by his claim that the grooming gangs scandal “started with the onset of mass migration”. (+ video) » | Jack Maidment Politics Live Blog Editor. Dominic Penna Political Correspondent | Tuesday, January 7, 2025

Sunak Accused of Toxic Rhetoric after Warning of ‘Overwhelming’ Migration to Europe

THE OBSERVER: Prime minister makes controversial remarks at Rome conference organised by Giorgia Meloni’s party

Rishi Sunak has been accused of adopting the “toxic” rhetoric of his former home secretary Suella Braverman, after he warned that migration would “overwhelm” European countries without firm action.

In remarks that will further inflame the Tory row over migration that has been raging for weeks, the prime minister said that “enemies” were “deliberately driving people to our shores to try to destabilise our society”.

Sunak made the comments at a festival in Rome organised by the far-right Brothers of Italy party, led by the Italian premier Giorgia Meloni. He said that both he and Meloni, with whom he has been forging a close relationship over hardline migration policies, were taking inspiration from Margaret Thatcher’s steadfast radicalism in their quest to do “whatever it takes” to “stop the boats”. » | Angela Giuffrida in Rome and Michael Savage | Saturday, December 16, 2023

Und was tut Sunak dagegen? Was sind seine Lösungen? – © Mark Alexander

Michael Lambert: Net Immigration Reaches 754,000 as Taxes Are Highest since the 1950's

Nov 25, 2023 | In 2022 immigration into the UK reached 1.2 million whilst 508,000 people left giving a net immigration total of 754,000. This compares with a total 0f 226,000 in 2019 which Boris Johnson promised to reduce in the Conservative Party manifesto. 91% of these immigrants are from non-EU countries headed by India, Nigeria and China.

Jeremy Hunt , the chancellor of the exchequer, in his autumn statement, announced a cut in the rate of National Insurance of 2p which will cost approximately £19 billion. He also confirmed that government departments with the exception of Defence and Health will have their budgets frozen thereby saving around £19 bilion.

Income tax thresholds are also being frozen which will result in most people paying more tax and the Treasury benefitting to the tune of around £10 billion per annum.

This was all hailed as the biggest tax cut since the 1980's and Hunt claimed that the UK economy had turned a corner.

Rishi Sunak has told the Covid19 enquiry that scientist were consulted including Chris Witty and Patrick Vallance before he announced his Eat Out To Help Out scheme which is believed to have been responsible for thousands on unnecessary deaths.

Willy, Vallance and Jonathan Van Tam have all given evidence under oath that they were not advised in advance and would have opposed the scheme had they been asked.

John Anderson Interview : Douglas Murray –Israel, Immigration & Islam

Nov 8, 2023 | In this conversation, John sits down with journalist and author Douglas Murray to discuss the war on Western culture in light of the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Murray argues that Western Civilisation is being eroded by the collapse of history, faith and moral clarity. This cultural decay, Murray suggests, has been caused by a variety of factors including illegal immigration, secularisation, identity politics and the rise of radical Islam. Nonetheless, Murray is encouraged by the growing support for initiatives like the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) and a common sense middle class who reject elitist identity politics. …

'Outrageous’: Listen to Vivek Ramaswamy’s Controversial Position on Immigration

Sep 21, 2023 | ivek Ramaswamy promotes two controversial policy ideas: stripping citizenship from and deporting people born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrant parents, and taking away voting rights from 18- to 24-year-olds unless they pass a civics test. "Decency seems to be in short supply these days, cruelty in abundance," Eddie Glaude responds to Vivek Ramaswamy and Donald Trump's 2024 immigration strategies. "What we're experiencing right now is fear over demographic shifts. This is 'the Great Replacement' ... this is a part of that debate."
