MAIL ONLINE: Census figures show white Britons are leaving areas where they are minority / Think-tank says survey reveals 'spiral of white British demographic decline' / Ex-Human Rights Commission chair says findings should make us 'anxious' / Nearly half of ethnic minorities live where whites make up less than 50% / Just 800 of 8,850 council wards where population is 98 per cent white
White Britons are 'retreating' from areas dominated by ethnic minorities, a study has revealed.
Analysis of census figures shows that white Britons are leaving areas where they are in a minority and are being replaced by immigrants and other ethnic minorities.
As a result, nearly half of ethnic minorities – 4 million people – live in communities where whites make up less than half the population, the study by the Demos think-tank found.
Demos said the survey showed a 'spiral of white British demographic decline' as white Britons choose to leave minority-dominated areas.
Trevor Phillips, the former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said the findings should make us 'a little anxious', and were 'not good news for the cause of integration'.
He said: 'What ought to make us a little anxious is the “majority retreat” it has unearthed – white people leaving minority-led areas and not being replaced.'
In 2005, Mr Phillips warned Britain was 'sleepwalking into segregation' as the UK was dividing into 'ghettos' of particular races and religions. Read on and comment » | Jason Groves, Political Correspondent | Monday, May 06, 2013

MAIL ONLINE: Just 16% of ethnic minority voters supported Conservatives at last election / Cameron orders ministers to target non-whites with new policies
Companies would be encouraged to [to] publish details of how many ethnic minority workers they employ under Tory plans to increase their appeal to black and Asian voters.
David Cameron has also ordered ministers to come up with a shopping list of policies designed to appeal to minorities.
The move is part of efforts to improve the image of the Conservatives among non-white voters, amidst fears the party could be shut out of power by the increasing size of the ethnic minority population.
Despite the Tories' modernising drive over the past few years, many non-whites still appear to associate the party with racially charged speeches by figures such as Enoch Powell.
At the last election, just 16 per cent of ethnic minority voters supported the Conservatives, compared to 37 per cent of whites. Read on and comment » | Matt Chorley and Hugo Gye | Tuesday, January 29, 2013

THE TELEGRAPH: White Christian Britons are being unfairly targeted compared with minority groups for committing hate crimes, a new report says.
The study from think-tank Civitas argues that new hate crime legislation is restricting freedom of speech, and has effectively introduced a new blasphemy law into Britain by the back door.
A foreword attached to the main report, “A New Inquisition: religious persecution in Britain today”, argues that prosecutors and police are unfairly singling out alleged crimes by white Christians, while ignoring other similar offences by minority groups.
It says: “Some police forces and the CPS [Crown Prosecution Service] seem to be interpreting statutes in favour of ethnic and religious minorities and in a spirit hostile to members of the majority population, defined as ‘White’ or ‘Christian’.”
Report authors said it is “legitimate to ask” whether these agendas are being driven by “sectarian groups” within either police forces or inside the CPS.
It claims “there is evidence of biased application of the law”, citing the case of a Muslim man who sprayed the words “Islam will dominate the world – Osama is on his way” and “Kill Gordon Brown” on a war memorial in Burton-Upon-Trent.
He was prosecuted for criminal damage – “that is neither a racially nor a religiously aggravated offence”.
The CPS had argued that “the defacing the memorial did not attach to any particular racial or religious group” despite the fact that the monument was “a Christian and British memorial, carrying Christian and British symbols.
"People who read the story found themselves thinking that, if a non-Muslim had defaced a Muslim building the system would have thrown the book at him".
This compared with a Christian couple in Liverpool, Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang, who were prosecuted and then cleared last December of a religiously aggravated hate crime after a strongly worded discussion with a Muslim guest at their hotel about the relative merits of their respective religions. >>> Christopher Hope, Whitehall Editor | Monday, July 19, 2010

THE TELEGRAPH: Two men made it their life's work to spread racist messages and encourage others to help them achieve their goal of ''the eradication of ethnic minorities from Britain'', a court heard.
Michael Heaton, 42, and Trevor Hannington, 58, both ''proud'' neo-Nazis, are accused at Liverpool Crown Court of urging people to kill Jews.
Andrew Edis QC, prosecuting said: ''Each of these men is proud to call himself a National Socialist, or a neo-Nazi in other language.
'Each is a member of an organisation called the Aryan Strike Force, whose goal it is to clear the country of all ethnic minorities, as they say, whatever it takes.''
Both men deny that postings they made on a right-wing website solicited others to murder.
Heaton is standing trial over four comments he made on the Aryan Strike Force website (ASF) between January and April 2008.
The prosecution argue that his comments about Jews - "...they will always be scum, destroy 'em with whatever it takes", and "I would encourage any religion or race that wants to destroy the Jews, I hate them with a passion..." - encourage their murder, or at least stir up racial hatred.
In one post he wrote that black people are "less intelligent than other species", and in another that Jews are leeches and "treacherous ------- scum". >>> | Friday, June 11, 2010

MAIL ONLINE: David Cameron hopes to more than treble the number of female Tory MPs and boast up to 15 ethnic minority members if he wins the general election.
Inisiders say his candidate selection policy will have the 'Obama effect' and change the face of the white, male-dominated party.
Currently the Tories have 18 women and two ethnic minority MPs - Adam Afriyie, who represents Windsor, and shadow minister Shailesh Vara, MP for north-west Cambridgeshire.
But the number of black, Asian and other minorities could rise tenfold at the next election, as a direct result of Central Office's decision to impose a greater number of 'suitable' candidates on local associations.
Five sitting female MPs are stepping down but 33 female candidates have been selected in 117 target seats, along with six ethnic minority candidates.
So far 149 women have been selected to stand overall and the party hopes to see between ten to 15 minority MPs and 60 women after the election.
An Iraqi-born businessman who fled Saddam Hussain's regime has become the 44th ethnic minority candidate to be selected. YouGov co-founder Nadhim Zahawi was chosen to represent the safe seat of Stratford-upon-Avon following a five-hour meeting on Friday night. >>> Nick McDermott and Gerry Peev | Monday, February 22, 2010

DAILY EXPRESS: BRITAIN’S second largest police force has been accused of discriminating against white men by setting itself targets to recruit and promote more black and female officers.
West Midlands police chiefs have pledged to increase the proportion of new recruits from “black or minority ethnic” groups to 12 per cent and women to 42 per cent.
Under the new arrangements, agreed yesterday by the local police authority, the targets will grow by two per cent every year until 2012.
The force has been warned it is walking into a potentially illegal and costly minefield of political correctness.
Former West Midlands police superintendent and city councillor John Mellor described the move as a terrible mistake. >>> By Anil Dawar | Saturday, May 23, 2009

MAIL Online: Companies will be free to discriminate in favour of women and black job candidates under proposed ‘equality’ laws.
The move allows employers to give preferential treatment as long as applicants are equally qualified.
It is designed to boost the proportion of female and ethnic staff, as well as thrusting more of them into senior posts.
Ministers insist that businesses will not be compelled to favour the woman or the black candidate, but the law will be changed to ensure they cannot be sued for turning down a white man.
Equalities minister Harriet Harman says ‘positive action’ is vital so that the workforce more accurately represents the proportion of the population as a whole.
Positive discrimination, where a lesser qualified candidate is given the job just because he or she is from a minority, will remain illegal. >>> By Michael Lea | December 4, 2008
