Greece: Kerry's Visit Sees Violent Clashes in Athens' Anarchist Stronghold
The clashes followed a demonstration held by leftists and anarchists who mobilised in opposition against the US State Secretary John Kerry, who is in an official visit the Greek capital. Skirmishes started soon after the rally ended, with roughly 300 anarchists trying to enter the premises of the Athens Polytechnic University, where they were repelled by police officers, only to continue the battle on the streets nearby.

Op-Ed: Senators Who Took Money from Iran
Senator Markey has announced his support for the Iran deal that will let the terrorist regime inspect its own Parchin nuclear weapons research site, conduct uranium enrichment, build advanced centrifuges, buy ballistic missiles, fund terrorism and have a near zero breakout time to a nuclear bomb.
There was no surprise there.
Markey had topped the list of candidates supported by the Iran Lobby. And the Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC) had maxed out its contributions to his campaign.
After more fake suspense, Al Franken, another IAPAC backed politician who also benefited from Iran Lobby money, came out for the nuke sellout.
Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the Iran Lobby’s third Dem senator, didn’t bother playing coy like her colleagues. She came out for the deal a while back even though she only got half the IAPAC cash that Franken and Markey received.
As did Senator Gillibrand, who had benefited from IAPAC money back when she first ran for senator and whose position on the deal should have come as no surprise. » | Daniel Greenfield | Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Obama Secures Iran Victory as 34th Senator Endorses Nuclear Deal
The Obama administration has secured enough support in the Senate to ensure that the Iran nuclear deal will survive a congressional vote, but John Kerry warned remaining waverers that rejection of the agreement would be a “self-destructive blow” to US credibility.
Kerry was speaking in Philadelphia less than an hour after Democrat Barbara Mikulski became the 34th senator to support the deal, ensuring a landmark victory for the Obama administration’s efforts to prevent it being derailed.
Mikulski’s support for the agreement means that Obama has enough votes in the Senate to uphold his veto if Congress rejects the July deal as expected. But the adminstration is still hoping to amass 41 votes, which would spare Obama from having to use his veto and spend political capital. Netanyahu Continues Attack on Iran Nuclear Agreement: It's 'a Very Bad Deal'
THE GUARDIAN: Israel PM: deal did not do enough to dismantle nuclear infrastructure / Energy secretary Moniz: ‘We have a very, very different view of the facts’
Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday stepped up his attack on a nascent deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program, calling the framework agreement announced in Switzerland last week “a very bad deal”.
The framework did not do enough to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, Netanyahu said, and world powers were making a mistake by offering Iran a path to sanctions relief without demanding more in return.
“A better deal would roll back Iran’s vast nuclear infrastructure, and require Iran to stop its aggression in the region, its terror worldwide and its calls and actions to annihilate the state of Israel,” Netanyahu said on CNN. “That’s a better deal. It’s achievable.” » | Tom McCarthy in New York | Sunday, April 05, 2015

US Reportedly Backed Down on Initial Goals in Iran Talks
The emerging reports indicate the U.S. team, led by Secretary of State John Kerry, gradually backed down over the course of the talks as Iran's delegation dug in. The Wall Street Journal, citing current and former U.S. representatives at the discussions, claimed the White House had initially hoped to persuade Iran to dismantle much of the country's nuclear infrastructure when talks started in late 2013, only to be told categorically that Iran would not do so. Obama’s Folly in Iran Needs a Page from Reagan’s Playbook
The administration won’t portray it that way, of course. They will say they have succeeded in slowing down Iran’s program. They will offer the usual Obama straw man argument -- it’s a choice between this deal and war with Iran. And nobody wants another war in the Middle East. » | K. T. Iran Nuclear Talks: Deal Can Be Reached, Says Rouhani
BBC AMERICA: Iran's President Hassan Rouhani says that progress made in nuclear talks means a final deal can be reached.
"There is nothing that cannot be resolved," although some differences still remain, Iranian state media quoted him as saying.
US Secretary of State John Kerry also said that "substantial progress" had been made in the talks.
Six world powers are negotiating a deal with Iran aimed at limiting its nuclear activity, with a late March deadline.
Iran insists its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes but world powers fear it has military ambitions.
Mr Rouhani said that in the current round of talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, "shared points of view emerged in some of the areas where there had been a difference of opinion".
They could become "a foundation for a final agreement", he said, according to state news agency Irna. » | Saturday, March 21, 2015

Obama Celebrates Ramadan Month, Plans to Host Islamic Dinner at White House
To commemorate the beginning of Ramadan, the White House released a statement from President Obama on Friday. In the statement, the President pays tribute to Muslims across the world and describes Ramadan as a “blessed month” and a “sacred time.”
“Here in the United States,” Obama wrote, “we are grateful to the many Muslim American organizations, individuals, and businesses that are devoted to creating opportunity for all by working to reduce income inequality and poverty, not only through their charitable efforts, but also through their initiatives to empower students, workers and families with the education, skills and health care they deserve.”
“At a moment when too many people around the world continue to suffer from senseless conflict and violence,” Obama continued, “this sacred time reminds us of our common obligations to pursue justice and peace and to uphold the dignity of every human being.”
Likewise, Secretary of State John Kerry praised the Ramadan tradition in a statement released Friday, wishing Muslims “a peaceful Ramadan and joyful month.”
“Across the globe, Muslims will assemble and celebrate a rich tradition with fasting and prayer, as generations have done every year since the time of the Prophet Muhammad,” Kerry stated. “Here in America, Muslims will commemorate Ramadan in ways that reflect the great diversity of our country and the spirit of community that binds us together.” » | Garrett Haley | Tuesday, July 01, 2014
