Sharia Man In Court for Mardi Gras TNT Threat

THE AUSTRALIAN: IBRAHIM Siddiq-Conlon, a Muslim convert who has argued for the imposition of sharia law in Australia, has been charged with making a hoax terrorist threat after he allegedly threatened to "wear some TNT" to Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Mr Siddiq-Conlon, who is behind the controversial organisation Sharia4Australia, has also been charged with child pornography offences after police allegedly found a number of illegal images on his home computer.

The western Sydney man yesterday declined to say if he was guilty of the pornography charges, which he admitted would attract "some minor punishment" under sharia law if he were found guilty.
"It might be a lashing, it might be jail, it might be a fine," Mr Siddiq-Conlon said.

Salim Farrar, an expert in sharia law at Sydney University, said pornography was forbidden under Islamic law, although most jurisdictions made no distinction between adult and child material. » | Paul Maley and Natasha Robinson | The Australian | Thursday, March 15, 2012

Food Chain At Risk of Being Poisoned by Terrorist Groups

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Food and drink sold in Britain is under a growing threat from terrorist groups which might try to poison supplies, the Government’s security advisers have warned.

Manufacturers and retailers have been told that their sector is vulnerable to attacks by ideologically and politically motivated groups that may seek to cause widespread casualties and disruption by poisoning food supplies.

The warning from the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure [CPNI], which operates as part of the Security Service, comes as experts warned the deadly E.coli outbreak in Germany has highlighted the vulnerability of the food chain and how quickly bacteria can spread.

The highly virulent strain has claimed 18 lives and left more than 1,800 seriously ill, with the true number of cases expected to be far higher.

A senior German doctor last night called for an investigation into the possibility that the bacteria had been spread deliberately.

Klaus-Dieter Zastrow, chief doctor for hygiene at Berlin’s Vivantes hospital, said: “It’s quite possible that there’s a crazy person out there who thinks 'I’ll kill a few people or give 10,000 people diarrhoea’. It’s a negligent mistake not to investigate in that direction.” » | Richard Gray, Science Correspondent | Saturday, June 04, 2011

France Raises Paris Terror Alert Over Al-Qaeda Warning

THE TELEGRAPH: France raised its terrorist alert warning today amid fears of suicide bomb plots against the Paris transport network.

French intelligence services are hunting a female would-be suicide bomber who they believe could be planning to target the Paris metro.

The alert followed a tip-off from a friendly intelligence agency – thought to be Algeria’s — warning of an imminent al-Qaeda threat.

Five French nationals have been kidnapped close to a French uranium mine in Niger in the last week, while a bomb scare caused alarm at the Eiffel Tower.

In a separate development armed guards were deployed to protect prominent Islamic moderate Dalil Boubakeur, rector of the Paris mosque. >>> Henry Samuel in Paris | Monday, Septemebr 20, 2010

Terrorist Threat Level Raised to 'Severe'

Why do we have to put up with this crap from these scum? Have Westerners lost all their will to fight for their civilization? Are we going to spend the rest of our lives in this reactive, defensive, apologetic mode? We will never get a grip on this problem like this. Attack is the best form of defence; always has been, and always will be. The way things are, Muslims rattle the cage, and we shiver in fear. Welcome to the spineless world of Westerners! – © Mark

TIMES ONLINE: Britain's terrorist threat level was raised tonight from “substantial” to “severe” - meaning that counter-terrorism agencies believe an attack is “highly likely”.

The measure was approved at a meeting of the Government’s Cobra emergency committee and announced by Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary.

The Times understands that the decision to raise the threat level is connected to the conference on Afghanistan taking place at Lancaster Gate, London, next Thursday.

Sources said there had been intensive discussions throughout the day relating to intelligence suggesting a possible attempted “spectacular” by an al-Qaeda affiliated group. >>> Sean O’Neill, Crime and Security Editor | Friday, January 22, 2010

Foreign Office Raises United Arab Emirates Threat Level

THE TELEGRAPH: British expatriates and tourists in the United Arab Emirates have been warned to exercise caution after the Foreign Office raised the risk of terrorism to its highest level.

It said attacks on the UAE - which encompasses the popular shopping destination of Dubai and the wealthy capital of Abu Dhabi - could happen at any time and would be "indiscriminate" in their target.

The terror threat - of which there are four levels - has been increased to high, which means a "high level of known terrorist activity". The other categories are general, underlying and low.

A statement on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) website said: "There is a high threat from terrorism. We believe terrorists may be planning to carry out attacks in the UAE.

"Attacks could be indiscriminate and could happen at any time, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers such as residential compounds, military, oil, transport and aviation interests.

"You should maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places." Foreign Office Raises United Arab Emirates Threat Level >>> By Caroline Gammell | June 16, 2008
