Washington Frets Over 'Distracted' Little Britain
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Relief at a clear election victory for David Cameron is undermined by the prospect of a Britain distracted by EU membership referendum and another Scottish vote
David Cameron’s surprise election victory was greeted with mixed feelings in Washington yesterday as relief over a clear-cut outcome was tempered by worries about the stability of the UK and the prospect of a divisive EU referendum.
Officially, Barack Obama congratulated the prime minister on his “impressive victory”, issuing a statement promising to continue to “strengthen the bonds between our countries, as we work together on behalf of global peace, security and prosperity”.
Behind the scenes however, officials conceded that the prospect of the EU membership vote in 2017 and a resurgence of Scottish demands for independence risked weakening Britain’s ability to deliver on its side of the so-called special relationship. » | Peter Foster, Washington | Friday, May 08, 2015

Ed Miliband Resigns as Labour Leader
A devastated Ed Miliband has resigned as leader of the Labour party, saying he is truly sorry for the scale of the party’s crushing defeat.
In an emotional speech, Miliband said it was time for someone else to take over as leader, but called on the party to keep fighting, rather than give in to despair.
“I take absolute and total responsibility for our defeat. I am so sorry for all of those colleagues who lost their seats,” he said on Friday.
He said the party now needed an “open and honest debate” about the best way of rebuilding after the heavy losses, particularly to the Scottish National party. » | Patrick Wintour and Rowena Mason | Friday, May 08, 2015
UK Election Results: David Cameron Pledges a 'Greater Britain'
BBC AMERICA: David Cameron has promised to lead a government for "one nation" and make "Great Britain greater" as he returned to Downing Street as prime minister.
Speaking outside No 10 after visiting Buckingham Palace, he said the UK was "on the brink of something special".
The Conservatives have 331 seats - five more than needed for a Commons majority - their first such victory since 1992.
Mr Cameron's rivals Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage have all resigned after election disappointment.
The Conservative leader is now beginning the process of putting together the new government, which will have a parliamentary majority of 12. Senior Cabinet appointments are expected to be announced later on Friday. » | Friday, May 08, 2015

David Cameron on Track to Remain PM after Electoral Triumph
David Cameron is on course to secure an astonishing electoral triumph as the Conservative party headed towards an overall majority and unseated a raft of senior political opponents including the Labour shadow chancellor, Ed Balls, and the Lib Dem business secretary, Vince Cable.
The result – devastating Labour and the Liberal Democrats, and leaving Scotland a near one-party state under the control of the Scottish National party – probably represents the biggest surprise in a general election since 1945.
Cameron is to head to Buckingham Palace at 12.30pm to meet the Queen and is expected to make a statement on his return to Downing Street. » | Patrick Wintour and Rowena Mason | Friday, May 08, 2015

British Muslims and UK Elections
Historically it's been said Muslims have identified themselves mostly with the Labour Party.
However, in 2010 less and less Muslims voted for them. Experts say British Muslims have become increasingly disenfranchised with mainstream parties. (+ video) » | Saturday, May 02, 2015

Anjem Choudary Claims All Muslim MPs and Voters Are 'Apostates' Sinning against Islam
THE INDEPENDENT: The radical preacher told followers that Allah is the 'only legislator'
Radical preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed that all Muslim MPs and voters are “apostates” as the general election approaches.
Writing on Twitter that voting is a “sin” against Islam, he argued that Parliament violated religious law because Allah is “the only legislator”.
Mr Choudary wrote: “The only excuse is for a new Muslim or someone totally ignorant about voting and also what's known from Islam by necessity.”
In a stream of messages using the #StayMuslimDontVote hashtag, the cleric called Muslims who vote or run as an MP are “apostates”, meaning they have abandoned their beliefs.
Anyone doing so does not believe that Allah is the “only, exclusive legislator and commander” and is therefore a “kaafir” (disbeliever), he claimed. » | Lizzie Dearden | Wednesday, April 22, 2015
My comment:
Our politicians have ruined England, Great Britain! By allowing into the UK successive waves of immigrants who have absolutely no intention of integrating, no intention of taking part in our democracy, and having every intention of spreading an alien faith and political ideology in our country. By doing so, they have sown the seeds of our own destruction. Fie on the LibLabCon traitors! These immigrants do not belong in the UK any more than I belong in Pakistan. Shame on our legislators! Shame on them! – ©Mark
