Hate-preacher Anjem Choudary’s Oslo Ally Calls Homosexuality ‘A Nasty, Cruel Disease’
BREITBART.COM: A Norwegian Islamist extremist with links to Anjem Choudary, the London-based hate preacher who wants to establish an Islamic state in Britain, has launched a Facebook campaign against the Europride festival in Oslo this week.
The Local reports that Ubaydullah Hussain was linked earlier this year with Egzon Avdyli, a 25-year-old from Oslo who was reported killed fighting in Syria with jihadist forces.
Following reports of Avdyli’s death, Hussain declared him a martyr in a Facebook post. Included in the post was a picture of Avdyli and Hussain standing on each side of Choudary. » | M. E. Synon | Tuesday, June 27, 2014

Britain 'Giving in to Sharia Councils' Says Norway's Anti-immigration Leader
THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Britain is "giving into the claims of Sharia councils", according to the leader of Norway's anti-immigration party which is poised to enter government later this month.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Siv Jensen, the 44-year-old leader of the Progress party who cites Baroness Thatcher as her inspiration, said: "What I have seen that the UK has done is to give in to the claims of sharia councils, and I don't think we should give into that. In Norway we have one law, and that is the Norwegian law."
Miss Jensen, who is unmarried, said Britain was suffering the results of earlier mistakes in its immigration policy.
"I see some problems arising – You've had problems with riots, you've had problems with radical groups who aren't very fond of democratic systems and freedom of speech, and I think those are criteria that you really have to stick to in the modern world."
Miss Jensen's party has grown to become Norway's third largest since it was launched in the 1970s, pushing a libertarian economic and social policy, combined with a vehemently anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic stand. » | Richard Orange, Oslo | Sunday, September 01, 2013

BBC: Defence witnesses from the far right in Norway have backed Anders Behring Breivik's views on Islam in court on Day 31 of his murder trial.
They said Norway was threatened by Muslim immigration, an argument used by Breivik in an attempt to justify massacring 77 people and injuring 242.
Breivik's defence said the extremists' testimony proved he was not insane because others shared his views.
However, the speakers did not condone Breivik's attacks.
Breivik admits bombing government buildings in the capital Oslo before shooting young Labour Party supporters at a camp on the lake island of Utoeya on 22 July.
Norway, a small nation famous for its traditions of political tolerance, was traumatised by the attacks.
The trial is seeking to establish whether the 33-year-old is sane, in which case he will be sent to prison. If not, he will be held in a psychiatric institution.
The court warned on Tuesday it might not be able to deliver its verdict until 20 July or even 24 August, for logistical reasons.
'We're at war'
Arne Tumyr, who heads an organisation called Stop the Islamisation of Norway, described Islam as "a religion of violence, a religion of wars".
His organisation, he said, considered Islam "a threat to Norwegian society and values". » | Tuesday, June 05, 2012

THE WASHINGTON POST: OSLO, Norway — Muslim leaders in Norway say they are concerned that the anti-Islamic ideology of Anders Behring Breivik, the far-right fanatic now on trial for killing 77 people, is being overshadowed by questions about his mental state.
The self-described anti-Muslim militant shocked Norway on July 22 with a bombing and shooting rampage targeting the government headquarters and the Labor Party’s annual youth camp. Since he has admitted to the attacks, the key issue for the trial is to determine whether Breivik is sane enough to be held criminally responsible.
“I’m not a psychiatrist, but what is important is what he has done. That should be the focus, not how crazy he is,” said Mehtab Afsar, head of the Islamic Council in Norway, an umbrella organization of Muslim groups in the country.
“He wants to get rid of Muslims and Islam from Europe. That is his main message. So I don’t see the point of using so much energy on is he normal, is he insane?” Afsar told The Associated Press.
Breivik has told the court his victims had betrayed Norway by opening the country to immigration. He called for a “patriotic” revolution aimed at deporting Muslims from Europe. » | Associated Press | Saturday, April 28, 2012

RTT NEWS: A court in Norway on Monday jailed Iraq-born Islamic cleric Mullah Krekar for five years for making death threats against Norwegian officials and others.
Krekar, who arrived in Norway as a refugee in 1991, was found guilty of making death threats against former Norwegian Minister Erna Solberg as well as three Kurds [sic] immigrants living in Norway.
The Kurdish Islamic cleric has consistently denied any wrongdoings in both cases, and indicated in court on Monday that he planned to appeal.
The 55-year-old cleric, whose real name is Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad, was accused of threatening the three Norwegian Kurds after they burned pages of the Holy Koran or insulted it in another way. » | RTT News Staff Writer | RTTNews | Tuesday, March 27, 2012

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Two men were found guilty on Monday of involvement in an al-Qaeda plot to attack a Danish newspaper that caricatured the Prophet Muhammad, the first convictions under Norway's anti-terror laws.
A third defendant was acquitted of terror charges but convicted of helping the others acquire explosives.
Investigators say the plot was linked to the same al-Qaeda planners behind thwarted attacks against the New York subway system and a shopping mall Manchester in 2009.
The Oslo district court sentenced alleged ringleader Mikael Davud, to seven years in prison and co-defendant Shawan Sadek Saeed Bujak to three and a half years.
Judge Oddmund Svarteberg said the court found that Davud, a Chinese Muslim, "planned the attack together with al-Qaeda". Bujak was deeply involved in the preparations, but it couldn't be proved that he was aware of Davud's contacts with al-Qaeda, the judge said.
The third defendant, David Jakobsen, who assisted police in the investigation, was convicted on an explosives charge and sentenced to four months in prison – time he's already served in pretrial detention.
It wasn't immediately clear if any of the defendants would appeal. » | Source: AP | Monday, January 30, 2012

THE GUARDIAN: Anders Brehing Breivik took part in online discussions with members of the EDL and other anti-Islamic groups
Anders Behring Breivik, the man accused of the murder of at least 92 Norwegians in a bomb and gun massacre, boasted online about his discussions with the far-right English Defence League and other anti-Islamic European organisations.
The Norwegian prime minister, Jens Stoltenberg, said Norwegian officials were working with foreign intelligence agencies to see if there was any international involvement in the slaughter. "We have running contact with other countries' intelligence services," he said.
Breivik was arrested on Utøya island where he shot and killed at least 85 people, mostly teenagers, at a youth summer camp for supporters ofNorway's Labour party after bombing Oslo's government district just hours before. Dressed as a police officer, he ordered the teenagers to gather round him before opening fire. Survivors described how dozens of people were mown down. The massacre led to the largest death toll ever recorded by a single gunman on the rampage. » | Mark Townsend in Sundvollen, Peter Beaumont and Tracy McVeigh | Saturday, July 23, 2011

THE NORWAY POST: President of the Norwegian Storting (Parliament) and former Labour party leader, Thorbjoern Jagland, has strongly attacked his own party for its role in the ongoing debate on Islam, saying it is creating fear.
Jagland says the party's leadership is trying to create a fear that is not real, in order to capture votes.
Last week outgoing Labour party secretary, Martin Kolberg said in a speech that Labour would enter into a fight with what he called "radical Islam", but Jagland claims that Koberg does not even know what radical Islam actually is.
There is absolutely no threat from Islam in Norway, but it is quite possible to create a threat, Jagland said, about the latest leads from the party leadership.
Jagland also reacts to his own party trying copy the Progress Party in order to gain politically by "mixing concepts and ideas" and thereby creating fear. [Source: The Norway Post] NRK/ Rolleiv Solholm | Tuesday, March 17, 2009

DAILY TIMES: OSLO: Norway’s leading opposition Progress Party slammed on Thursday what it termed the ‘gradual Islamisation’ of the country after an order allowing policewomen to wear the Islamic headscarf if they wished.
“We’ve hit bottom. Once again, we see an example of Norway and Norwegian society caving to the special demands of Muslims,” the populist party’s spokesman on immigration issues, Per Willy Amundsen, told news channel TV2 Nyhetskanalen.
“Sector by sector, Norway is adapting to Muslims instead of Muslims adapting to a country in which they, after all, have chosen to live of their own free will. I call that a gradual Islamisation of Norway,” he said. On Wednesday, Norway’s centre-left government announced that it would allow female police officers to wear the hijab if they wish. Several other European countries, including Sweden and Britain, have already allowed the wearing of religious headgear by their police officers.
