JD Vance Holidays in the UK | US Politics | The New Statesman
Aug 16, 2025 | From the Cotswolds to Scotland, JD Vance has been busy.
The US vice-president began his trip by spending time with his "friend", foreign secretary David Lammy. Following that, he's met a who’s who of right-wing populists - from Robert Jenrick, to Nigel Farage, to, somewhat bizarrely, a BBQ with ex-Apprentice contestant and social media star Thomas Skinner.
What's he doing here? Anoosh Chakelian is joined by George Eaton and Will Lloyd to discuss.
THE OBSERVER: The Vance guard: the new right being cooked up in the Cotswolds: The vice-president shared BBQ and beers with allies whose thinktank has come to the attention of the Electoral Commission Monday night in the Cotswolds village of Dean was one of those perfect August evenings, when the long hot day blurs into a balmy night. At an 18th-century manor house owned by the millionaire couple Johnny and Pippa Hornby, a BBQ was set up and a group of friends – some longstanding, others meeting for the first time –were putting the world to rights over a few beers. »

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Are Selling Their Country Estate
THE NEW YORK TIMES: The asking price for the couple’s property is around $30 million, while other celebrities, like Adam Levine and Tony Parker, also have put their homes up for sale.
Ellen DeGeneres, the comedian and longtime TV host, and her wife, the actress Portia de Rossi, have listed their country estate in England’s Cotswolds region, just a year after buying it. Their asking price is 22.5 million British pounds, or around $30 million.
The couple had purchased the 43-acre property, located in Swinbrook, Oxfordshire, and known as Kitesbridge Farm, in the spring of 2024, then spent the next few months on renovations. The estate comprises several structures, including the 18th-century main house and a guesthouse. There is also a separate “party barn” with a pub for entertaining and a building that contains an indoor pool, gym and shower facilities. » | Vivian Marino | Vivian Marino writes about prominent residential sales and exclusive listings. | Friday, August 1, 2025
