What to Know About the Dangerous Heat in Europe

THE NEW YORK TIMES: Health warnings were issued to tens of millions of Europeans as temperatures climbed well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or more than 40 degrees Celsius.

Extreme heat is stifling Europe, where tens of millions of people are bracing for more days of dangerous temperatures.

The most severe conditions are in France, Italy and Spain, and the heat is forecast to continue into midweek before it moves eastward, with temperatures expected to rise in eastern and southeastern Europe.

The sweltering heat has brought record temperatures and unbearable conditions for some people working outdoors. In several countries, firefighters have battled wild fires exacerbated by the heat.
