France to Ban Smoking in Public Spaces, New Restrictions Take Effect

Jun 28, 2025 | Starting Sunday, France enforces a sweeping ban on smoking in many public spaces. The new measures prohibit lighting up on beaches, in public parks, at bus stops, on outdoor train platforms, and in streets surrounding schools and sports venues. The policy aims to curb smoking rates and protect public health, but it has also sparked debate among smokers and civil liberty advocates.
