"There is a stealthy rise of Sharia courts in Britain"
THE TIMES: There is, in a world of uncertainties, at least one comforting and incontrovertible truth. There’s one law for all. isn’t there? Well, no there isn’t. In this country some minority and religious groups have their own courts dispensing justice in commercial cases, neighbour disputes and divorce.

This week there has been a furious debate about whether these courts complement the national law or threaten it. The debate has been stoked by the revelation that in southeast London there is an unofficial Somali court that deals with criminal matters. One UK legal system? Think again by Clive Coleman

I wonder if in the United States if a sharia court system is in place and the public is unaware of it.

Mark, i love your book A New Dark Age Is Dawning. I am still reading it and will be rereading it again.

Mark, i think that A. Yusuf Ali and his translation is a white wash of the qu'ran. Because in Darwish's book, in the chapter about families and divorce, she mentioned that the qu'ran is used to justify sever beatings of women she is aquainted with. Looking up Yusuf Ali's version, i found Ali mention spankings being used on women whom are disloyal to the husband as one of the options. The notes on this passage don't indicate sever punishments. Yet Darwish indicates that this is the passage used to justify severe mistreatment. My feminine intuition tells me that Darwish is correct and Ali is trying to whitewash the qu'ran to the unsuspecting. [also in a previous posting i mentioned here that there was 164 verses on jihad while Ali only lists about 6 in the index]

Mark: i mentioned A. Yusuf Ali's translation because i saw that you referenced him in A New Age Is Dawning.

Although we all know that the law isn't always applied equally to all in the West, the discrepency of application is not the hoped-for norm nor is it considered the appropriate outcome. Look to India for the model of what happens when law is applied according to your tribe, race, religion, culture, etc.

I'm delighted! Absolutely delighted!

The Qur'an by A Yusuf Ali is considered to be the gold standard among Qur'ans. What more can I say? But even in this version, you will find some pretty gruesome verses.

In any civilized society there has to be ONE set of laws for ALL. Nothing else is acceptable. I'm sure you would agree.

Mark - Of course I agree. Islam must not be civilized as there is one set of laws for Muslims and another for the rest of us! Hmmmmmmm

Eleanor, I'm astonished that the authorities are allowing this scenario to unfold before our very eyes. Weakness is as weakness does!

These bastards should be sent back to their "Motherland". They are nothing but fifth columnists hell bent on destroying our democratic way of life (which, while far from perfect, is preferable to a life of slavery). They want Sharia?? Go back to the loving embrace of a nation that understands they don't want freedom.

Fifth columnists is exactly what they are!
