To all:
Whilst it has been reported by CNN, and apparently by other stations, that Abdul Rahman is to be freed, according to the BBC, he is "set to be freed while his case is being reviewed". I hope this is not an ominous turn of phrase!
I found this via a post on Dr. Sanity's blog today, I think you'll agree wholeheartedly with what he says:
Under the Scimitar of Damocles
This makes prayer even more imperative for his release and safety.
Heather:
This is an excellent link. Thank you!
You keep talking of the importance of prayer. Prayer is all very well, but prayer alone will really not be enough to deal with the peril of Islam.
Was prayer alone enough to aid the poor Jews before the Holocaust?
I agree with you completely Mark. The Bible says faith without works is dead, or useless.
It's so important to make our views known, such as to PM Blair.
BTW--I was reading an article about your Prince and Camilla who are in Saudi Arabia this weekend. My question, do you have any photos?
Camilla, known officially as the Duchess of Cornwall, stepped off the plane that brought the royal couple from Egypt Friday sporting a beige pant-suit with a long pink scarf wrapped around her head. However, she still showed some locks of blonde hair.
They better get him out of country fast. Even my resident jihadi is out for blood and she is in the states.
Great news.
I wish we could say that everyday.
Heather:
These are the only pics I have been able to find of Camilla in Saudi. I can't post them because they are pay-only. But you can click here to get a taste of them Camilla in Saudi
I agree with you, Beakerkin. There's no time to spare.
From Heather's excellent link:
...the conscience and the faith of the most sincere and upright Moslems are bound up with the Koran and the Traditions. Civilization cannot eradicate deep-seated convictions. Rifles and ironclads, the cafe, the theatre, written constitutions, representative parliaments; none of these reach far below the surface. A truer freedom…than the one supplied by their own faith, must come before Moslems can enter into the larger liberty which we enjoy.
The author, Andrew Bostom, is scheduled to be at next month's symposium, which I am attending (as you know, Mark).
AOW:
Yes, enjoy it! Perhaps, as I'm the veteran, they should have invited me to speak! But then, perhaps they couldn't have afforded the air fare.
Mark,
Yes, they should have invited you to speak. Maybe you should contact them?
Always:
Yes, they should have invited you to speak. Maybe you should contact them?
Well, I think I could have made a valuable contribution. But that's my personal opinion. I have been saying the same thing for twenty or so years. How long have these others been saying these things?
But I fear that one has to be in the 'inner sanctum' to be invited to such symposia as a speaker.
I certainly wouldn't contact them. As Mrs Thatcher once said about Oxford University, her Alma mater, which refused to give her an honorary degree for her achievements (because she was too right-wing for them). If they don't wish to confer one on me, then I should be the last person to wish to receive it, or words to that effect.
In fact, I never expected to be invited anyway, as the people involved in this symposium have yet to give me any recognition for my contributions to this ongoing debate.
The converse is not true!
