Israel-Hamas War: Ex-Israeli Soldier Says 'This Government Can't Defeat Hamas'

Oct 26, 2023 | Sky's Mark Austin has spoken to Gaza War veteran Benzi Sanders who said "Hamas is stronger" even though they "had dealt them a decisive blow".

The ex-Israel Defence Forces soldier added: "The only way to defeat the idea of violent resistance is to create an alternative. One our government [Israel] opposes. So, this government can't defeat Hamas."

Foreign Secretary Says We Are in a 'Very Serious Situation' as Inflation Hits 40-year High

May 18, 2022 • The Foreign Secretary Liz Truss says there's no doubt the current situation is "very difficult for people across the UK" as inflation rises to highest level since 1982.

On the windfall tax she says it "makes it more difficult to secure future investment into the UK" with the cost of living continuing to rise.

Ukraine War: Putin in 'An impossible Position', Says Former UK Ambassador to Russia

May 5, 2022 • Former British Ambassador to Russia Sir Andrew Wood says Moscow has already lost more troops than died in Afghanistan, where 15,000 were killed.

He added that "the Russians do not care about the number of deaths, and they lie about it anyway."

May 9th marks Victory Day to commemorate the end of the Second World War, a day when Vladimir Putin would aim to have signs of a "victory" to show the Russian people.

Ukraine War: West 'Spooked' by Kremlin and a 'Robust' Response Is Needed

Apr 8, 2022 • Tobias Ellwood MP tells Sky News the West has been "spooked" by Kremlin rhetoric, and a "robust" response is needed to stand up against the Russian government.

The Chair of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee said Ukraine needed greater weapon systems, and "daft" arguments about whether weapons were defensive or offensive needed to stop.

He said Putin seemed very secure in his job and wasn't "scared" of any war crimes or breaching of the Geneva Conventions.

Beth Rigby Interviews... The Prime Minister on the War in Ukraine

Mar 10, 2022 • Sky News' Political Editor Beth Rigby speaks to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the war in Ukraine and the UK's response.

Asked if Russia's potential use of chemical weapons was a red line, which could push the UK to military involvement, Mr Johnson said it was an 'agonising' situation, but there was no Western country where that kind of involvement was on the agenda.

He described the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as "one of the most extraordinary leaders of recent times". But he defended the UK's response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, saying his government wanted to be 'generous but fair'.

Feb 27, 2022 • Foreign Secretary Liz Truss insists the UK 'does welcome refugees' and the government is looking 'urgently' at what more the country can do, despite reports that Ukrainians are finding it hard to come to Britain.

And describing the situation on the ground in Ukraine, Ms Truss said there had not been any "overnight significant changes", "but we are seeing very, very strong and brave Ukrainian resistance".

Ukraine Crisis: Chaos Descends on Ukrainian Capital

Feb 26, 2022 • On Sky News Breakfast live from Kyiv with Mark Austin on Saturday February 26:

- Ukraine says fighting has been ongoing on the streets of Kyiv overnight. It is understood Russian troops are approaching Kyiv from two sides in an attempt to surround the capital.

- No casualties were reported by Ukraine's Foreign Minister following a missile strike on a residential apartment building in Kyiv.

- Fighting is continuing across much of Ukraine, but Russian troops are largely concentrated in three main areas: to the south, near Crimea, to the north west near the border with Belarus, and close to Kharkiv.
