08/01/2026 - Wet and Windy in the South - Afternoon Weather Forecast UK – Met Office Weather

Jan 8, 2026 | Heavy rain with very strong winds in the southwest initially, strengthening through the rest of today and spreading across much of England and southern part of Northern Ireland. Rain turning to snow as the colder air cuts in from the north. Largely dry for north-east England and much of Scotland, with a few showers in places and some clearer skies.

UK Weather: Ice Warnings In Place across Country as Heavy Snow Expected

THE GUARDIAN: Storm Goretti forecast bring as much as 20cm of snowfall in some places amid freezing temperatures

Ice warnings are in place across the UK before a storm that is expected to bring heavy snow later in the week.

The Met Office has issued yellow ice warnings for Wednesday morning for most of the UK, including Northern Ireland, amid an Arctic air mass, which has brought wintry showers across the country.

A yellow warning for snow and ice is in place all day in northern Scotland, with residents there told to expect a further 5-10cm of snow.

Temperatures are forecast to drop as low as -6C in parts of rural Scotland and just below freezing more widely overnight, the Met Office said.

A yellow weather warning for snow, expected in a large part of England covering Sheffield, Peterborough, Bath and Worcester, and in much of Wales, will be in place from 6pm on Thursday until midday on Friday. » | PA Media | Wednesday, January 7, 2026

04/01/2026 - Another Cold Night for All - Evening Weather Forecast UK – Met Office Weather

Jan 4, 2026 | Temperatures fall widely below freezing overnight into Monday morning across the UK. Areas of sleet and snow move south across England and Wales, making icy stretches likely. Further sleet and snow showers affect Northern Ireland and heavy snow continues across northern Scotland. An amber snow warning is in force for northern Scotland, where a further 20–30 cm could fall on top of existing deep snow. Temperatures range from –2 to –5 °C, with some rural spots dipping near –10 °C. - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the evening of 03/01/2026.
