Most US Voters Believe Trump Has Inappropriately Profited in Office, Poll Finds

August 19, 2026 | A majority of Americans believe Trump and his family have inappropriately profited from cryptocurrency since his return to power and that his policy decisions are influenced by his private business dealings, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

Americans are inclined to be so harsh, cruel, merciless, and lacking in understanding for people who break the law, yet when it comes to Trump’s corruption, they can be so gentle and reticent to criticize. Let us be absolutely clear: Trump is the most corrupt president in my long lifetime. He is also probably the richest. But that fortune is ill-gotten. Trump is the wrong man in the wrong office. And Americans are having to pay a very high price for their poor judgment. We in the rest of the world are also having to pay a high price: a high price for Americans’ political ignorance, naïveté, and extremely poor judgment. — © Mark Alexander
