The concept of homosexuality in Arab and Muslim cultures is common.
There are the accounts of Romanian intelligence that Arafat was Gay.This does not stop the PA from persecuting homosexuals.

More amazing is the plethora of far left Gay anti-semites that used to post on my blog from the UK. If you ever need a laugh my early archives contain plenty on this subject.

The official anti-semitic explanation was that gays who are excecuted in Iran and Saudi Arabia
were given fair Sharia trials, unlike Tookie Williams. All those who were executed were pedophiles.
Moreover, any accusation of torture is a product of the zionist media and racist.

This person brags about his 167 IQ
but the question remains divided by what.

Beakerkin, homosexuality is rampant in Middle Eastern countries. But, as you say this doesn't stop them persecuting gays. It's a double standard, rather like getting pregnant before marriage used to be in the West. Sex before marriage was okay, as long as you didn't get caught! The same goes for homosexuality there: Enjoy yourself, as long as you don't get caught in flagrante delicto!

What is it with this lot?
they are obsessed with all things phallic and everything connected to death and killing.

Guns, and more guns, (and they say America has too many, check these guys out.)
Playing with stuff that goes bang.
Kissing little boys, (no wonder they don't criticise the gay Bishop brigade.
Telling us all they can't wait to die and go to "Paradise"
Sheeeit! Is there anyone out there that does not think these grown men are short of a few marbles. You know, sheep loose in the top-paddock?
Bats in the belfry, (or should that be minaret?
Bent as nine-bob notes, the lot of 'em.

They seem to be, don't they?

Guns, and more guns, (and they say America has too many, check these guys out.)

Who has more?

Kissing little boys, (no wonder they don't criticise the gay Bishop brigade.

Interesting that!

Telling us all they can't wait to die and go to "Paradise"

In Paradise, they'll have more pretty boys!

Hmm, some of those scenes reminded me of rugby tackles and scrums, and the enthusiastic congratulary embracing that occurs when a try is scored. Does that make those he-men rugby players a little suspect in their sexual orientation as well?

The kissing, well, don't many Europeans (the French and Italian, for example) do something a bit like that too? Oh, and Maori press noses which puts their mouths just millimeters away from each other as well.

What I am wanting to rule out is the strictly cultural stuff that is neither here nor there when it comes to the way someone perceives his sexuality.

That is not denying that homosexuality is rife, but just that I wasn't greatly persuaded by what I saw in that video clip.

Those Muslim chaps are culturally thrown together an awful lot, separated from the womenfolk, and so they naturally relate more physically with each other.
However, I thought the jury was still out on the causes of homosexuality, and to what extent socio-cultural factors are a part of it all.

In other words, is what we were seeing there a veiled expression of homosexuality, a sanctioning and fostering of it, or just a few cultural mores that say no more about sexual orientation than does a toffee apple?

I think the degree of anticipation concerning certain carnal pleasures that await in Paradise is more indicative of a homosexual inclination than some perfunctory greeting. It is definitely noteworthy that the Qur'an provides amply for such inclinations. Now that I find far more convincing.

I don't know about that. Maybe so; maybe not.

I think you are reading too much into this post. It was actually an attempt to be a little light-hearted amid writing about this heavy subject. But I also wanted to show that while Muslims are critical of Western homosexuality, the very same phenomenon is rife in Muslim countries, too. Only it is, as many other things are, veiled.

What I am wanting to rule out is the strictly cultural stuff that is neither here nor there when it comes to the way someone perceives his sexuality.

There is a cultural element, of course. But in my experience, Middle Eastern Muslim men are very much more affectionate with each other than are Western men. This stems, in my view, from the prohibition in place: the one in which men are not allowed to mix with women. This prohibition makes it very difficult for men to show, or receive, any form of affection. It also makes Muslim men very sexual when finally in the company of women (or men, for that matter). They often make very little distinction!

That is not denying that homosexuality is rife, but just that I wasn't greatly persuaded by what I saw in that video clip.

As I said: You are not meant to be. Enjoy the clip for what it is - a light-hearted look at how Muslim men behave with one another.

Those Muslim chaps are culturally thrown together an awful lot, separated from the womenfolk, and so they naturally relate more physically with each other.

Right!

However, I thought the jury was still out on the causes of homosexuality, and to what extent socio-cultural factors are a part of it all.

The jury might well still be out on this subject; but one thing is for sure: Deny men the possibility of mixing with the opposite sex, and you'll find the incidence of homosexuality actually increases exponentially. Of that I am convinced.

In other words, is what we were seeing there a veiled expression of homosexuality, a sanctioning and fostering of it, or just a few cultural mores that say no more about sexual orientation than does a toffee apple?

I don't know about the sexual proclivities of toffee apples, but I do know that men who are disallowed from mixing with the opposite sex can get very affectionate with one another.

I think the degree of anticipation concerning certain carnal pleasures that await in Paradise is more indicative of a homosexual inclination than some perfunctory greeting. It is definitely noteworthy that the Qur'an provides amply for such inclinations. Now that I find far more convincing.

Yes, it probably is.
